Flat Racing Thurs 21st March

7.00 Kempton This looks a trip too far these days for Lujeanie and easy to look elsewhere off top weight. Scottish Lake has slipped below his last winning mark but currently doesn’t look in the same form since coming back from a short break. Al Khan is an obvious favourite and rightly so, he appeared to win with something up his sleave on 3rd run for this yard, ran a good race under penalty last time out in a race not run to suit really and this should be better for him actually a 1lb lower as only 5lb higher off new mark rather than 6lb penalty and only 3lb higher for that win (went down in handicap a few days after win) so has a solid chance but not easy to win with. The Guru Of Gloom won 3 starts back but in 2 recent starts has failed to build on that and no obvious excuses. Perfect Mission looks a little high in the handicap and struggling to beat rivals since coming back from a break. The one that interests me the most is Ocean Legend not shown much in 2 runs since a break but looked badly in need of run first time up so should strip fitter again. Handicapper being very generous dropping him quickly and now off a mark of 70 7lb below last winning mark. Fallon eye catching booking, he knows how to win here with 6 wins and yard in great form! 2pt win Ocean Legend 15/2 pp 7.30 Kempton Mcbirney is consistently frustrating he is well treated on his very best form but can often flatter to deceive and run a good race followed by a good one, latest effort a poor one but excusable on the fibresand. Pahente was hit with a 10lb rise for winning extremely easy on penultimate start struggled off revised mark last time out though so easy to swerve despite a 2lb ease in the weights. King Olav is dangerously well handicapped for an inform yard, but has basically been tailed off on 3 starts since lengthy period on sidelies most notably last time out which is a huge concern but is being backed in a weak market tonight and is now 24lb below his last handicap winning mark. Mister Bob was a comfortable winner of a weak maiden on fibresand at Southwell last time out still running green though so will need to improve again against hardened performers, mark of 63 perhaps not harsh but also needs to prove that fibresand isn’t his only strong point. Amana was desperately unlucky on penultimate start meeting huge trouble in running having travelled extremely well into the race, that was a 2nd good effort of note recently and is clearly in good heart handicapper put him up 3lb, easy to excuse latest effort at Southwell and if in same form he has a chance having been dropped back 1lb. 2pt win Amana 6/1 vc

Re: Flat Racing Thurs 21st March The 7.00 Kempton is a very interesting little race, not gunna back anything tonight as reckon there will be bigger value on certain runners tomorrow. Such a pace dependent race where I wouldnt be surprised if they went off quickly, nor would I be surprised if they went steady. Can see Ocean Legend being well backed tomorrow but tough race to land a gamble for a horse that's getting on now. Interested to see the prices on Scottish Lake and The Guru Of Gloom tomorrow as they could both be much bigger and both very backable.
