Flat Racing Tues 5th Feb

2.10 Southwell Plenty of course form on offer here. Hellbender has been given a huge chance by the handicapper and does have course form but has been badly out of sorts when last seen including around here over a mile. Starts out with new yard with something to prove. Bartley has had 2 tries on this surface and has shown very little and badly out of sorts at present. Boy The Bell won at Wolverhampton on penultimate start and much better than the result last time out off a 3lb higher mark, he remains on a good mark on his very best form although he runs well here this mark is perhaps as good as he is on this surface and that might be the stumbling block. Pipers Piping returns to this surface on a very short looking price on his form figures but that doesnt tell the full story, it has been claimed that trainer and jockey kept the handbrake on him and he has looked better than the result. The hood is tried for the first time today and he is now 10lb lower than when winning around here this time last year. It is all dependant if they want to win today or not. Ace Of Spies is a course specialist but has been well beat on polytracks start recently but has now dropped back to his last winning mark when last seen here but yard very quiet at present and can only be watched. Upper Lambourn is the one that atracts me at the prices, he completely lost his way with Ellison having won a handicap off a mark of 69 and a CD claimer. He has plummetted in the weights since and now finds himself on a mark of 55. Yard form hard to judge but money has come for him to suggest he is more than capable of taking advantage of this low mark. Well drawn in stall 6. 2pt win Upper Lambourn 15/2 hills 3.40 Southwell Another decent handicap with plenty of course form. Waking Warrior has never won off a mark this high but is 2 from 4 around here and is hard to rule out completely. Sans Loi has attracted plenty of money having joined Ellison yard, he was a reasonable sort as a 2yr old but has paid for that with a harsh looking mark and despite coming down the weights a bit. He hardly beat a rival last year and has a lot to prove on fibresand debut (although undoubtley galloped around here before) Aubretia comes from the Mccabe yard who will know whether this horse acts on the surface or not as they often gallop around here. He didnt have a huge amount in the tank when scoring at Wolves last time out and it has to be seen if a 3lb rise is defiable on this surface. Bandstand has a good record on the surface with 2 from 4 but it is a major concern he has shown nothing on polytrack last 2 starts having previously shown form on that surface too. Scott Dixons runners have comeback in great form and his Burnhope defied a 3 month lay off last time out Kempton, race rather fell into his lap and that form has already got plenty of holes in it so a 5lb rise looks a tough ask on an unknown surface. Mazovian goes well here but often in needs a race to fall apart to make him look quite impressive at times around here. He is atleast on his last winning mark but this is a much better race than he usually contests. Similar can be said for Dickie Le Davior often found in weaker races these days, the faster they go up front the better. Sound Amigo is an interesting runner. Hasnt been seen since September but has always gone well fresh and he ran well here on course debut, disappointing next time on surface but wasnt beat far when last seen on turf and if returning in similar form should go well from a good draw. Graham Lee interesting booking only ride of day having not ridden for sometime now aswell, yard also going through a good spell at present. 2pt win Sound Amigo 13/2 hills

Re: Flat Racing Tues 5th Feb Bits of cash going around for the Mark Johnston horse that being Birdy Boy but a certain Mr Pat Eddery sends out just the one horse and is showing a very tempting price. 4 runs no wins and zero to shout about yet Mr Eddery sends him a lonely journey to Southwell for the 2nd last race of the day, its the first visit here for the 3yr old filly and she's not been seen for just over 50 days, the new course might do her the world of good, Jockey L.Morris gets the leg up for the second time, i have them down as having a shrewd sporting chance at nice odds, the horse is also Owned by Mr Eddery 4:10 Southwell- Aphrodite Spirit. E/W Bet.
