[h=1]Caulfield Betting: Peter Snowden's gun 3 year old looks way too good for rivals in the Manfred Stakes[/h] t478_b88_Albrecht-Up_&_Coming_WF_250812.jpg CAULFIELD RACE 3 @ 2.05pm AEDT: The TROA Supports National Jockeys' Trust Manfred Stakes is a 3 year old race over 1200m where the 1.90 favourite with Bet365 is ALBRECHT. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: Small field and the speed doesn’t look overly strong. ROYAL HAUNT will lead and I am expecting ALBRECHT to be ridden confidently and sit just off ROYAL HAUNT. The remainder of the field is a bit of guesswork, maybe HOSTING can push forward from the wide gate with Craig Williams on board. The race looks to favour those on the pace. RACE ANALYSIS: ALBRECHT looks a good thing on this weight scale. He is carrying just 2.5kgs more than the entire field yet is a whopping 29 handicapper ratings points from his nearest rival. He boosts a Group 3 win a placings at Group 1 and 2 level. The best win any of his rivals can write home about is a 2 year old handicap won by SHOREHAM last year with the majority of the field having only just graduated from maiden class. ALBRECHT comes into this race first up after a successful preparation last spring in Sydney. He won the Group 3 Up and Coming well before heading to the Group 1 Golden Rose where he charged down the outside with stablemate Epaulette to be just nosed out in a race that he probably should have won. He then ran 2nd to Kaybayan in the Group 2 Stan Fox and was spelled. Today is a perfect starting point for his preparation where I think McEvoy will ride him confidently and sit just outside the leader and be too classy in the straight. The 1.90 available currently is more than reasonable. http://www.betzone.com.au/caulfield-betting-peter-snowden-s-gun-3-year-old-looks-way-too-good-for-rivals-in-the-manfred-stakes-

Re: Caulfield Betting 2nd Feb 2013 [h=1]Caulfield Betting: After a string of placings today is the day for Elusive King in the Mornington Cup Prelude[/h] t479_2da_166006-elusive-king.jpg CAULFIELD RACE 5 @ 3.25pm AEDT: The National Jockeys' Trust Mornington Cup Prelude is a Listed Handicap race for 3 year olds and upwards where the 4.0 favourite with Bet365 is ELUSIVE KING. HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: Speed looks ok. TUSCAN FIRE probably leads, WHITE UNIVERSE, WESTSOUTHWEST and SCOTTISH BORDER handy. ELUSIVE KING led last start but I think he’ll look to settle just off them today with LUCKY EIGHTY EIGHT. The rest of the field settle midfield or beyond in a race where all runners will get their chance barring bad luck or track bias. RACE ANALYSIS: ELUSIVE KING is so close to a win he can taste it and I think today he gets his best chance. He is having his 6th run of this preparation, after two pipe openers in his first two runs, he has run a string of placings firstly over the 1600m at Caulfield where he hit the line strongly to finish 3rd after settling well back in the field. He was then made carry 60kg over the 2000m at Flemington and he ran a close up 3rd in what is now proving a hot form race. They broke 2:00 minutes in this race with the winner Keep Cool comprehensively winning his next start and the 2nd horse in TUSCAN FIRE winning his next two. ELUSIVE KING gave those two in form horses 4kgs and 5.5kgs respectively. He stayed at the Flemington 2000m and was 5 weeks between runs where out of his normal race pattern he led and boxed on well to be defeated by Kutchinsky by under a length with the aforementioned carrying 2.5kgs less. Today he drops to 56.5kgs giving him a whopping 8kg weight turn around on his last meeting with TUSCAN FIRE who rises to 59kgs today. He gets back to his home track of Caulfield where he races his best, comes into the race having his 6th start of the prep where last summer preparation he produced his best run and has Brad Rawiller sticking with him. http://www.betzone.com.au/caulfield-betting-after-a-string-of-placings-today-is-the-day-for-elusive-king-in-the-mornington-cup-prelude
