Kingspur's Hopeless Hosts Laying system 150 bets -0.7% ROI

The idea for this system came after watching my local side fail to win at home yet again despite being the bookies favourite. This got be wondering just how common it is for a side to be pretty useless at home. And more interestingly, if certain teams were poor at home over a long period of time. I checked out the top 5 tiers of English football, and collated the previous 4 seasons results together. Then by finding out their average home win odds, and comparing this against their actual win percentage, I came up with a rating of just how well teams did at home compared to bookies expectations. My plan was to use this information to lay the most hopeless hosts. I tried this using the first half of this season and was surprised to turn in a profit. So I rolled it back a year and tested it again on the previous season. Again it produced a profit. It was the same for the major European leagues. I then looked into the sides that did better than expected away from home, and decided to lay the home opposition for these teams as well. Again a positive result. So I am going to start documenting my selections here to see how it goes till the end of the season.

So I will splitting the picks into three Hopeless Hosts: Laying the home team when ratings show side is weak at home Top Travellers: Laying the home team when playing against a good value away side. Double Trouble: Double the stake when hopeless hosts meet top travellers

Re: Kingspur's Hopeless Hosts Laying system Just out of curiosity, what points make you treat Bayer Leverkusen as a "hopeless host"? They were 6-2-0 at home this season, winning their last three home matches against Hamburg, Nürnberg and Schalke with 6-0 goals in total. And regarding the upcoming matchday they face a newly promoted Frankfurt side, which are 1-1-4 in their last 6 away games in Bundesliga. Anyway good luck to your system! :hope :D

My 'system' only takes into account the previous 4 seasons results, so does not factor in what they are actually doing this season. Over the past 4 years, their average odds at home have been 1.78 or 56% but they have only actually won 50% of the time and only 47% last year. They are clearly having a much better time of it this year so far. Lets hope it all evens out and their second half of the year is a stinker :-)

I also want to take account of a comment by Don Bratwurst who was surprised about the system showing Leverkusen against E Frankfurt as Leverkusen have been in great form at home this year. At the moment the system only takes into account previous seasons results. If I look at the backtesting on a rolling monthly basis, it would then take current form into account as well and maybe rule out certain teams who are in good current form. Re: Kingspur's Hopeless Hosts Laying system I went to the suggested site. Its hard to get use to different type of formats when a person is use to something else. Also trying to get the concept of the decimal type lines will take some adjustment. The type of site I was looking for would have standings and each of the teams past games for the whole season, unless I missed something on how to navigate at the site I went to. It gives you an Excel spreadsheet of all matches played since about 1990 for all the major European leagues. It gives all the odds for a variety of bookmakers and for the bigger leagues also gives you stats such as shots, corners, bookings, red cards etc. I find it really useful as raw data to try to find patterns
