The rest of the field will settle midfield or beyond in a race where on-pacers look advantaged. RACE ANALYSIS: BRITISH GENERAL looks the one to beat here. He has had 4 runs this campaign adding two wins to his already impressive resume. After winning first up in a lowly Bench Mark 78 race, he ventured to Adelaide where he was in a blanket finish with two in-form horses Hidden Value and Conservatorium, where he finished just behind them. They went on to quinella a listed race 2 runs later. He was then given no chance at Caulfield when on pace and on the wrong part of the track on a day that suited the back markers, before stepping up to the 1400m for the first time and getting the perfect run in transit from champion jockey Glen Boss to win the race.

Re: Flemington New Years Day Betting [h=1]Flemington New Years Day Betting: Catapulted to burn down the straight in the Standish Handicap[/h] FLEMINGTON RACE 6 @ 4:10pm AEDT: The Standish Handicap is a 1200m Group 3 event for 3 year olds and upwards where CATAPULTED is the 2.50 favourite with Bet365 HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN: For a 1200m race there isn’t a huge amount of speed. ADAMANTIUM might take up the running from ELUSIVE TOUCH, BIG BUDDIE, CATAPULTED, DEVILS FORCE and OUTLANDISH LAD. The rest of the field will look to settle midfield with some cover in a race where the speed map is a fraction unclear but it shouldn’t have too much of an effect on the race. RACE ANALYSIS: CATAPULTED could not have been more impressive first up. He sat back off the pace with 60.5kg and swamped his rivals in the straight to win by 3 lengths with something in hand. Admittedly it was on a day where those coming off the pace where advantaged, but the authority of the win was outstanding. His stable mate Undeniably has since won a the Listed Christmas Handicap and HOTHAM HEIGHTS who run 3rd, ran a close up 3^rd in his next start.
