TORRENT value against fav?

Recommended Posts

In the 3.45 at Beverley today, the high drawn runners will as usual enjoy a huge advantage over the rest of the field. FLYING TACKLE will go off a short priced fav from stall 15 as he can race off the same mark as when winning last week (as it was an apprentice hcap so he escapes a penalty) - punters will class him as a handicap snip. However, I'm not sure this is the right track for him, he's ran here 6 times now and lost each time. His hold-up running style means he'll need the gaps to appear and I can see him having trouble finding room in such a big field and could end up trapped on the rail. A clear run and he'll go close, but he ideally needs further too and a place is more likely than a win. I'm taking him on with the 9yo TORRENT - he showed he is in top form with a win 2 runs back and last time ran a cracker when 2nd from a terrible draw at Leicester. Drawn 18 of 20, he can make all under the superb Lisa Jones. He can be backed at 5/1 on Betfair, as opposed to 3/1 for the fav, so looks decent value. The EVENS for a place looks worth betting too as a saver. Seen
