CHATEAU MARGAUX probably leads as she sat on the pace last start, then it is a genuine mystery as to who settles next in line. It could be the rank outsider of the field in the Kiwi BACK IN BLACK. MALUCKYDAY and EXCEPTIONALLY probably settle next with the 3 internationals bringing up the rear. This year’s Geelong Cup looks a tactical battle as there is no clear speed on paper. RACE ANALYSIS: Small field for the 2012 Geelong Cup but it doesn’t lack any class or international interest. In the last 2 years we’ve seen 2 French horses win the race in Americain and Duneden and both of them went on to win the Melbourne Cup, so it is a hot form race of recent times. This year there are 2 Frenchy’s trying to make it a hatrick as well as UK visitor GATEWOOD who is having his 2nd start in Australia. The two French visitors in BRIGANTIN and TAC DE BOISTRON met last start in France with the latter victorious from BRIGANTIN with SHAWARDI in 3rd place. http://www.betzone.com.au/geelong-betting-the-french-love-affair-with-the-geelong-cup-to-continue-in-2012

GOSSIP GIRL looks like she’ll be able to cross from the outside gate and lead this on her own terms. HONEY FLOWER and FLORETS settle behind her giving the race favourite KOONOOMOO the box seat. The rest of the field settle midfield or beyond in a race where being on the speed looks the place to be. RACE ANALYSIS: KOONOOMOO looks to have come back this preparation in fine form. She resumed at Moonee Valley with an absolutely luckless 7th where she was blocked for a run in the straight when she seemingly had a lot to give. Her 2nd up run was a career best effort in the Listed Northern Plume where she ran 2nd to the flying Serene Star after looking the winner with 200m to go. Today she comes back in grade, drops in weight and gains the services of gun jockey Craig Williams. She’s drawn perfectly for the box seat run in transit and looks very hard to beat. http://www.betzone.com.au/geelong-betting-super-star-jockey-craig-williams-to-continue-his-golden-run-on-koonoomoo
