It’s a mystery who will lead this field. Possible last start winner SECOND EFFORT can drift across from barrier 10 to lead from a stack who can go forward without leading. They include GREEN MOON, HEART OF DREAMS, SINCERO, WALL STREET, LUCKYGRAY and even MIDAS TOUCH. The rest probably get back or race midfield in a race where the speed map is more inconclusive than ever. RACE ANALYSIS: Very interesting race. LUCKYGRAY had his first ever Melbourne start a fortnight ago at Caulfield on a Heavy 10 surface which was his first time on a track worse than Dead 5. He over raced early in the piece but then looked to be traveling well just before the turn but when asked to quicken he found the sloppy conditions a bit much. His Perth form prior to that race was outstanding with 3 dominant displays between 1200m-1600m. Today the prospect of a dry track is heavily in his favour although the wide gate may not be. http://www.betzone.com.au/caulfield-betting-lucky-to-improve-on-the-dry

Speed should still be ok with GLOWS, DEE “N” GEE, and MR MAKE BELIEVE all vying for the lead with GOLDEN ARCHER, TESTARYTHM, PLATELET and RUE MAPLE all capable of being handy. That just leaves the in form FREERETURN and first upper BERRINGAMA back in the field. Every horse will get their chance in this barring bad luck or track bias. RACE ANALYSIS: GOLDEN ARCHER is 3rd up today from a 43-week spell. His first up win over 1000m was dominant, it was his first run in open age company, he gave weight to the older horses, settled midfield off a hot tempo and simply destroyed his rivals over the concluding stages. He stepped up to 1200m 2nd up and in a race that was lacking speed jockey Luke Nolen elected to take up the running. http://www.betzone.com.au/caulfield-betting-archer-hard-to-beat-on-home-track
