The ultra consistent Darley horse was having his second run this preparation after a dominant win in the Missile Stakes a fortnight earlier. Aided by an aggressive yet superb ride from stable jockey Kerrin McEvoy, Pinwheel sat handy to the pace and hit the lead 250m from home and was good enough to hold off late challenges from star mare Secret Admirer and veteran Danleigh who both ran terrific races.
