I expect AFRICAN PULSE to cross from the extreme outside and lead. ATOMIC FORCE, UNANIMOUSLY and UMGETON (if he gets a start) will be right up there also. HIGHLY TOXIC, ONE LAST DANCE, BROKEN and ALL FRIARED UP next in line whilst the majority of the other runners will settle midfield or beyond. The Moonee Valley 1000m circuit with the rails out 4 metres usually favours those on the pace. RACE ANALYSIS: ATOMIC FORCE is by far the class runner of the field and looks extremely hard to beat here even with the 60kgs he must carry. His form last preparation was outstanding, winning multiple black type events and managing to snare a Group 1 by winning the Railway Stakes in New Zealand. He is first up today but comes off a nice trial win and has some handy fresh form. Craig Williams takes the reigns today and on-paper he looks likely to get a nice on-pace run from barrier 7. http://www.betzone.com.au/moonee-valley-betting-may-the-force-be-with-the-class-horse

Either PHILDA, VALEDICTORIAN or GURU BOB leads from SPACECRAFT who I expect to go forward with the blinkers on. Might be a bit of a gap to the next horses in running who could even be the favourite in EXCLUDED or SASSY BAY who may come across from a wide gate. The rest of the field will be midfield or worse in a race where on pacers should be favoured. RACE ANALYSIS: Perfect race for the 8 year old PHILDA here. He has had a largely unsuccessful preparation due to some poor placement and Moonee Valley being out of action. After a string of poor runs he got back to his pet track in Moonee Valley to run a close 2nd behind Streets Away who has since gone on to win again. Today he gets back to Moonee Valley, gets to his pet trip of 1500m, gets down to 54kgs after Adam McCabe’s claim (a weight he hasn’t raced at since 2009) and looks likely to have a soft time of it in front. He won this race last year with 56kg beating eventual Group 1 winner December Draw with today’s jockey Adam McCabe on board to make it 3 wins on the horse for the apprentice jockey. http://www.betzone.com.au/moonee-valley-betting-big-day-on-the-cards-for-valley-specialist
