Manly to win by 1-12 $3.65 Sportingbet confidence 6/10 Bluetongue Stadium, Friday 7.35pm Last time they met- Manly 36 Souths 22 Head to head betting- Souths $1.85 Manly $2.00 A great match up for Friday night footy between the flying Souths and Manly. Souths are sitting in second spot with a record of 14-6 and had a good win last week away from home against the Gold Coast Titans. Manly are sitting in fourth spot with a record of 12-8 and were good in grinding out a win against the Cowboys up in Townsville. Re: NRL round 23 Souths -1.5 @ 1.95 sportsbet Souths have won six straight games and their confidence is high. They have managed to do so with a very good forward pack that gives their backs room to spread the ball out wide. Manly have been hanging in, in their games and have grinded them out, but have several notable absentees like King and Matai which weakens their side. They have also had to travel to in their last two games, so some of this travelling may eventually catch up with them. Melbourne -9.5 @ 1.95 sportsbet Melbourne have their players back and it showed as they were ruthless in beating Penrith as their combinations worked really well. Gold Coast scored two late tries in the last 8 minutes to make the score more respectable and only lose 22-18 to Souths, but they were second best for much of the game. Melbourne have scored 110 points in their past three games against the Gold Coast and they did beat them 40-12 last year at home. Though the Titans have a decent forward pack to match it with the Storm, they did not have the backs to go with them, and like the Storm to win this one well Record: 56-87 (-4.84)

Souths -1.5 @ 1.95 :eyes Melbourne -9.5 @ 1.95 :eyes
Sydney Roosters -3.5 @ 2.10 sportsbet Parramatta had two good wins over Melbourne and Brisbane before they were well beaten by Wests on Monday night even though they did lead comfortably at one stage. They have looked much more freer in moving the ball and expect them to continue that style of play. However, the Roosters were at their best in beating St George last week, and they have some hard running forwards to get the best of some of these Eels defenders who slip in the tackles. They benefit from having 3 days extra rest for this game, and have won their last 3 games against the Eels. The Eels will play with a nothing-to-lose approach but doubt that they can withstand the better backs that the Roosters have, as the Tigers sliced them up, and expect the Roosters to do the same Wests -5.5 @ 2.00 sportsbet Wests were back to their attaacking best as they sliced up the Parramatta defence as they look to make a late surge for the top 8. Though their defence still needs some work, they may not have to worry too much as the Dragons don't exactly score too mant points. Like the Tigers to continue to probe for gaps and tire out this defence, and like them to be too good here. The Dragons are better defensively, but as their attack has spluttered, they have not managed to get it going this year. With just one away win in 8 games this year, they also do tend to struggle playing away from home. North Qld -9.5 @ 1.95 sportsbet The Cowboys look to make up for their narrow loss to Manly last week, as the Warriors look all over the place. They were thrashed by Cronulla last week, and though they get a couple of players back, they have lost their five-eighth Maloney as well as their prop Matulino, and doubt that they have the depth to cover them. They have struggled in Townsville with 9 losses in 13 visits there, but expect Thurston and Bowen to slice up these big Warriors forwards in the second half, as they do tend to tire quickly then. Record: 56-89 (-6.84)

Sydney Roosters -3.5 @ 2.10 :eyes Wests -5.5 @ 2.00 :D North Qld -9.5 @ 1.95 :D
Canberra -13.5 @ 4.10 sportsbet Penrith were thumped by the Storm last week and doubt that they can bounce back here, as the players look like they have given up for the year. The raiders are a team that can play when they want to, and have had some good wins in the last few weeks, and seem to be playing better on the road than at home. Like Canberra to win here as they are still a chance for the top 8, while the Panthers are looking to plan their end of season trip Brisbane +8.5 @ 2.10 sportsbet The Bulldogs are on fire and would be expected to win this one, but even though the Broncos have spluttered in recent weekss, they are loaded with talent and like them to rise to the occasion. Their defence, which was a highlight this season, has dropped off, but would expect that much of training to be on stopping the Bulldogs offloads and breaks. The Broncos have the forwards to match it with the Bulldogs if they are up for this game, while the backs are pretty handy as well. Believe this will be a much closer game than expected and like the Broncos to show some big improvemnt in their play compared to that of recent weeks. Record: 58-90 (-5.89)

Re: NRL round 23

Canberra -13.5 @ 4.10 :( Could not hold onto that 14 point lead with 10 minutes to go Brisbane +8.5 @ 2.10 :D
Cronulla @ 2.00 sportsbet Cronulla are so much better with Gallen and Carney back and like them to continue their top form from last week where they thumped the Warriors. Newcastle were well beaten by Canterbury last week and it does not get much easier given that the Sharks have the players to cause the Bulldogs some problems, let alone the Knights who have been up and down this year. Though the Sharks do not have a good record in Newcastle, is has been awhile since they have had a good side, and this one is more than capable of of winning there. Record: 59-91 (-5.79)
