20.05 - Wolverhampton - Catflap @ 12/1 Bet365 Agree with Chris on this one. I think more was certainly expected of this horse lto. He came last of 12 on handicap debut last month after going off 2nd fav with Ryan Moore booked for a small yard. He certainly showed more promise than that in the 3 AW maidens he ran in anyway, including 1 over C&D. It is hard to tell exactly what went wrong on that handicap debut but it looks as if he is much more at home on the AW than turf. He goes back to Wolverhampton today for his 2nd run in a handicap, usual jockey Nicky Mackay back onboard and he has a super record around this track with nearly a 25% strike rate in the last 12 months. Runs off a mark of 62, 2lb lower than lto and on the face of his maiden efforts that looks reasonably lenient considering he was mixing it with a couple of horses who have won off marks in the mid 70's since. Carries bottom weight, also gets 3yo weights allowance and has a nice draw too so no reason why he shouldn't get back on track with a decent run here.
This is what i wrote about Catflap last week. He drifted massively going off a 33/1 shot but ran a very good race just coming up 1/2L short in a blanket finish. Runs again tomorrow at Wolverhampton but drops down to 5f for the first time which shouldn't be too much of a hinderance. Seems to be better when going from the front and has a nice draw to do just that. Nicky Mackay onboard once again and his strike rate is terrific at this course, missed the 7/1 about him but still worth a bet here imo

Re: Flat Racing Monday 6th August 8:50 Wolv Light From Mars 1pt win - 14/1 (Bet365) Light From Mars was formerly a high-class handicapper but has rapidly slipped down the handicaps after proving disappointing this term. His run last time out in a claimer can be discounted, he doesn't like soft ground. His best run this season came at Wolverhampton when 7th in a decent handicap. He carries top weight here but the gap from top to bottom weight isn't big and he's got the class to overcome it. Fallon is a positive booking at 14/1 looks overpriced.
