DeanK Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 May 19th – Doomben - Race 7 - 3:50PM KIRKS DOOMBEN CUP (2000M) HOW THE RACE WILL BE RUN – Not much speed on paper. TRIPLE HONOUR led up the Holindale field last start; they may have no other option but to do the same here from the wide draw. If they choose the more conservative approach on TRIPLE HONOUR, MANIGAR could lead this field from the inside alley, if not he’ll definitely be handy to the speed and looks to get a nice run on paper. LIGHTS OF HEAVEN is also drawn for a nice run and the versatile SHEZ SINSATIONAL will more than likely cross from a wide gate to settle in the first few. WALL STREET, MAWINGO, FIBRILATION next in line, in a race that looks to advantage those on-pace. RACE ANALYSIS - Almost impossible to look past the rejuvenated European MANIGHAR. His form since entering superstar trainer Peter Moody’s stables has been outstanding and this is arguably the weakest field he has faced since his first up romp in the Group 3 Carlyon in February. Last start, he was shooting for his 4th Group 1 in the Queen Elizabeth, where he ran into red-hot mare More Joyous and didn’t get the best ride from champion jockey Damian Oliver. He still ran a gallant 2nd and regains the services of jockey Luke Nolen who is 4 from 5 on the grey stayer. Add to that a probable soft run in transit and the far superior WFA form and he looks close to a moral in this. Stable mate LIGHTS OF HEAVEN might be the danger, her 2 runs this preparation have been full of merit, she looks to get the perfect run on paper and could be peaking 3rd up for this race. SHEZ SINSATIONAL narrowly defeated LIGHTS OF HEAVEN last start in the Group 2 Holindale; amazingly she went from winning the Auckland Cup over 3200m to win to a month later, winning a 1400m handicap her two starts prior, which showcases her versatility. She’ll go forward from barrier 11 and run her usual honest race. And possibly the best value in the race is SCENIC SHOT, he’s won this race two years prior and his lead up form this year is almost identical. http://www.betzone.com.au/doomben-betting--another-group-1-on-the-cards-for-manighar Quote
