DeanK
We may be in the off-season of Victorian racing, but by no means does the action drop off with the TROA/Luxbet Winter Championship series having its first heat last Sunday. The heat ran at Cranbourne over 1300m attracted a handy field led by Group 3 winning 6 year old Lord Pyrus. But to the surprise of everyone including his trainer, 160/1 shot Viva La Vida took out the race which was a total blowout for punters. The Pat Conroy trained 8 year old, who was the winner of just 1 of 19 prior to Sunday, sat wide for the majority of the journey before proving too strong for his more fancied rivals in Lord Pyrus and Sophrosyne. http://www.betzone.com.au/victorian-winter-heats-up
