2.30 Southwell Quite a lot of recent form on offer in this handicap. St Otswald has been reasonably consistent on this surface and appeared to improve again last time out when running clear by 5 lengths upped in trip, a 9lb rise looks a little harsh on the face of it but clearly in rude health and cant be totally ruled out although stall 1 makes this tougher aswell (drawn in stall 1 in January and beaten 21 lengths last of 5!) Fluctuation is another that has had a good winter finally getting off the mark in a CD handicap and followed up back at 7f on penultimate start only found Mazovian too good last time out but that form has since been knocked and a further 1lb rise looks harsh and could just be vunerable off this sort of mark. Beachwood Bay was given a good ride last time out and was in a good position turning in before winning comfortably that was his first try at 7f and a 5lb rise is fair but this race looks a little stronger and could find this tougher. Imprimis Tagula is a Southwell specialist that has returned to form, winning a seller and following up in a decent looking handicap for the grade last time out, 6lb penalty is obviously tougher but Fallon takes the ride and still very well treated on his very best form on this surface and could well taking some stopping. 2pt win Imprimis Tagula 5/2 bet365 5.40 Southwell Another Southwell handicap full of the usual suspects. This can be fought out between last weeks 1-2 over CD Elhamri and Itsthursdayalready. Elhamri got the better of that rival last week under a good ride from Hayler from the awful draw of stall 1. A 6lb penalty doesnt leave him impossibly treated but his lack of consistency is the worry. Elhamri is 6lb better off for a 1.5length defeat and is probably weighted to turn that form around having proved consistent this winter on this surface and useful apprentice takes the ride today and takes off a handy 7lb and remains on last winning mark. 4pt win Itsthursdayalready 5/2 bet365 5.50 Kempton This race looks setup for a finisher with Liberal Lady,Lucky Art and Island Legend all front runners so in a small field the ones from behind could benefit. Shawkantango looks plenty high enough in the weights especially on the polytrack and Black Baccara hasnt been in great form recently. Picansort has been running into form this winter in the Blue Square series, he has been well backed on recent starts and although up a further 2lb he could still be well treated given he has won off this mark in the past and is 1 from 3 around here. Although small field doesnt always suit him given he needs a strong gallop this one looks teed up for him and should find the openings he needs. 2pt win Picansort 7/2 bet365 6.20 Kempton Cane Cat entered several peoples notebooks last week and isnt probably the most original selection but looks sure to go well and the price may just be pushed out slightly given his draw in stall 13. He finished with some real effect for a low grade handicapper to suggest he was well ahead off his mark to finish 1/2length behind Nolecce and a 6lb turnaround in the weights could turn that around, stall 13 isnt as bad as it looks given how he is ridden to best effect being held up reasonable claimer takes off a handy 3lb and perhaps wouldnt be one to go in too heavy on given he has finished placed quite a bit but he shouldnt be far away in this field. 1pt win Cane Cat 4/1 bet365

RE K Fallon I would always generally lay him on fibresand. he has a terrible level stakes loss and in fact I would rarely back him on heavy ground either.for some reason it doesn't seem to suit his style. I actually wasn't on either wayfor his ride yesterday (didn't look at the other cards yesterday at all-silly me a perfect day I would have thought for the odd trick to be pulled!- although I did see the race when I popped into the bookies for a mo-what a surprise Fallons mount ridden along straight away! no doubt the plan for a nice lay in a convenient 4 runner race or I am being too cynical here!!?). A strange jockey booking one would think anyway as he very rarely goes there
