  1. Cagnes sur mer 2.35 Piton Des Nieges. Could be a cliff horse however the fact that The Czech trainer J Vana has entered this very weak chase - with most of the big yards and jocks avoiding- after an impeded third last week in a small field (after a long lay off) makes me hopeful. If it can run to its back form 6/1 is surely too big. He also has another horse at foot of weights that will have a saver on just in case.
  2. Sad to hear that. For some strange reason, no doubt, I've always enjoyed watching the racing there- quite different to elsewhere and interesting seeing how some jocks are poor on it regarding pace in different distances. Although there are still some still in Europe. A couple in Germany- I think Neuss and Dortmund - and Pau in France.
  3. Pau 11.10 Saint Pourain.16/1.ew corals An interesting mixed card in Southern France today with a very competitive looking cross country chase just after noon. However this course winner seems to be too big reverting to hurdles after competing in much higher grade chases. With the excellent claimer Natalie Desouttier on board a big run expected.
  4. Agree about the Hobson/Felix De Giles horse in the Cross Country. Completely unexposed over trip and a lovely low weight. Felix is an excellent rider in this type of event and vastly more exp now than the other riders in this discipline.
  5. All poor- obviously a little holiday by the sea disguised as a business trip!!
  6. Cagnes 1.07.Ole Caballero 1 42 Kazoo No time for write ups but very interesting that Josef Vana Jr Son of the legendary Velka Pardubice winner as trainer and jockey brings 3 from Czech Republic to South of France today on a weak looking card with few of the top yards or jockeys present. His first mount was impeded twiceby falling horses in the later stages. Difficult to tell if it was fit enough.
  7. Slightly off topic but some of the lesser events in lesser sports are well worth looking at esp as there tends not to be heaps traded on the exchanges which makes it harder for the odds compilers who often are not specialists in that area as its gen not a partic big market for them. Having said that it's prob only worth doing if you either are a keen follower of the sport/competition or have friends who maybe don't even punt but follow a sport closely and have a lot of specialist knowledge. An example in rugby was Saracens beating Leinster in Dublin earlier this year. All the pundits were
  8. PS. Some very interesting points above indeed. I guess one of the problems with horse racing is the astonishing amount of statistics easily available today. Almost an information overload. Although obviously some things have more significance depending on the event maybe?
  9. Just a very brief thought, although I guess it depends on personal situation, but for me for example who has been self employed for most of my life, I have to factor in the amount of time spent on research time wise and profit thereby.
  10. 11.55 Auteuill Galahad Quest. 14/1.e/w Outsider of the field in this listed hurdle in Paris today was a disappointing 7/9 in its last run at Compeigne in October. However that was its first run since March and the two prior runs included a v close 2nd to the fast improving Henderson Buzz, followed by a Grade2 hurdle win in the, Jan chelt meeting. Assuming it can come on for its reappearance run its current OR of 130 (which considering the current rating of Buzz could well be under rating it) the Nick Williams trained amd excellent Felix de Giles on board, c
  11. I very rarely lay on the win market, however I have certain criteria for laying at the head of the market for a place(Especially maiden races )where your liability is small and horses are priced purely on reputation, hype etc. It's not a system however as everything depends on the makeup of the field. And there are certain jockeys and trainers that invariably will just fail to get their horse placed if it can't win. (no names on a public forum!) which are in my little black book. However it does req patience as waiting is often needed for an appropriate opportunity. It is most def
  12. Toulouse 11.25 Paquos 13/2 ew bet365 ridden by the excellent Natalie Desoutter claiming 4, is the value against the Macaire trained favourite in this small field modest 2m+ hurdle.
  13. Bourdeaux 12.25 Ascension Directe 20/1 ew Bet 365 Very short price fav in this 12k stakes race.Intellogent, a GP1 winner back in 2018.Only try on heavy was its last race at St Cloud 2 weeks ago. Started as Fav with PCB on his back and even his super jockeyship couldn't manage to get him to pick up on the heavy going. Don't feel he is anywhere close to his Or at present to be honest and the fact Pasquier comes all the way from Paris to ride him makes it feel like a banker- however his 1/2 on makes the market nicely for the others. There, are a few interesting lurkers capable
  14. Bourdeaux 10.55 Cafe Saigon 7/1 ew Bet365 A relatively low grade 6f+ stakes race with the market made by the Godolphin underachiever Stormy Mountain. However with its dam sire being Exceed and Excel, which tend to perform much better on Tapeta or GF turf I'm happy to take it on with regards to the heavy going reported today. Likewise the 2Fav Queen Kalhua whose current ability level seems to be on a downward slope since a 4th place to Earthlight in a listed sprint at Deauville in the summer, with its recent run being a disappointing 10/14 place in a relatively weak 13k r
