5 pts a day to keep the boredom away

Recommended Posts

Imagine you are sat at home and decide not to have any 'proper' bets for the day. You are down to your last 5 pts and decide you want an interest in the afternoon's racing. You decide on a little 1.25 pt trixie (5 pts outlaid in total) and try to win something worthwhile off small stakes. Who would you pick? Suggested themes for the three picks (feel free to add your own as you feel appropriate): 1) The 'banker shortie' - not a great price but probably the most likely winner in the race and the bread and butter selection in the bet you hope will roll your stake for the first three bets up into something a little bigger. If it loses its effectively game over until the next day! 2) The 'taking on a weak jolly pick' - you find a favourite you think is a false favourite and pick one second or third in the betting that you think should be favourite or at least priced closer to the favourite. It is probably 50:50 whether this one wins but if it does you're hoping with this and the banker shortie you've paid for the next few trixie's and you now have something big going on the third pick to get you all excited. 3) The 'day maker' - the long shot of the three picks and the least likely winner of the three, but the one that will make a real difference to your bet and see you swapping the Morrisons value lager for the Champers. Who are your three picks? (with reasoning, as is always expected across the forum etc)

Re: 5 pts a day to keep the boredom away My three for today: 2.35 Wolves - Faraway - the 'taking on a weak jolly pick'. Think the fav, Redair, is better over 5f, so over this 6f trip, and with top AW jockey Luke Morris in the saddle, taking this one against him. Has winning CD form and think he should just shade favouritism (as I type he's actually now fav). 5/4 b365 4.10 Wolves - Roedean - the 'shortie banker' of the gang. Won a plating race last time, making all, and could dominate this small field today under Franny Norton. Best in at the weights and represents the in-form Jamie Osborne yard. 8/13 b365 4.40 Wolves - McCool Bannanas - the 'day maker' didn't stay 12f on his last run but has placed over CD and has been eased 1lb in the weights. Price probably reflects a wide draw and the support for Marksbury but he's in with outside claims. 7/1 b365
