Flat Racing 29th Dec

12.50 Southwell I was well up for opposing Spahi at a very short price today he hasnt always looked the most straightforward sort. Kipchak is 3lb below last winning mark but hasnt looked as though his turn is coming having faded out of it recently and the only reason he is such a short price is the weakness of the rest of the field and atleast he does know how to win. Flying Applause has never convinced this surface suits and has never won over this far and has a lot to prove at this trip. Kingaroo is a 4 time course winner but has run as if amiss for the past year but handicapper has been slow to release the pressure but has now dropped him to 2lb below last winning mark and claimer takes off 5lb and wont find many weaker opportunities than this one and first time tongue tie fitted today. 1pt win Kingaroo 13/2 coral 3.50 Kempton Just the 8 runners so going to use the Betfair place market to make sure we get the 3rd place betting. For the grade this isnt a bad race with quite a bit of recent form on the board. Edgeware Road has been in good heart recently but probably did too much in first time blinkers last time out and shaped as if the tank had emptied and now has to find a lot more with a 5lb rise in the weights (although jockeys claim offsets that) and also needs to prove stamina over a furlong further. Princess Lexi has always proved a better horse on the turf and is rated a few lbs higher on it too but was well supported last time at Lingfield over a trip far too sharp probably but stayed on well and now could improve for the step up in trip and is 7lb below winning turf mark at Ponte. Trip Switch has come back from a long break in really good heart winning 2 from 3 and gets in today unpenalised for the latest in an apprentice handicap but 4th quick race after such a long break is a worry and so many times these sorts come out of apprentice events unpenalised and struggle to capitilise so is probably worth opposing. Daniel Thomas for me is interesting he isnt straightforward by any means but he is more than capable off this sort of mark, last win came in a seller but was rated 70 that day and last handicap win was off a mark of 68 and although not won for 2 years has been knocking on door recently despite tardy starts and should get a race run to suit he is also 6lb better off with better off with Trip Switch for 2 lengths back in November and should be in the thick of it at the finish. 1pt win Daniel Thomas 10/1 bet365 2pt place Daniel Thomas matched @ 2.92 betfair (13/8 available with bet365)

Re: Flat Racing 29th Dec

2.35 Southwell -
Karma Chameleon
- He has taken to the artificial surfaces quite well and is now trying fibresand here at Southwell for the first time. With conditions to suit, Karma Chameleon could notch up another win today if he handles this surface, he is effective at this distance and class of race having won his last two with similar conditions at Kempton and Wolverhampton. Ridden by Seb Sanders today who has had 7 winners and 4 places from his last 20 rides here at Southwell. (W-0.54, P-0.93)

2.35 Southwell: Karma Chameleon - 5pts win @ 2/1 Boylesprts (BOG)
