Spammers advertising

I enjoy the forum, but have noticed an increase in the number or spammers advertising other sites recently, and I waste quite a bit of time and energy filtering through these and reporting them (they often post in a thread that I am already using). Is it possible to have some stronger filter or security to prevent these people getting on? (I've noticed that other forums I use don't seem to have much a problem with this.)

Re: Spammers advertising OK - so no reply yet - but I see these annoying posts at least every few days - and always report them if I see them. It would be nice to hear from one of the moderators about this and what you can do to help prevent it ;)
