3.00 NEWTON ABBOT~Really decent race this. The fav Mamlook must have a chance on his 4th at Aintree in April on only his 4th try over the bigger obsticles and his mark of 135 is very fair.Jumping could have been better that day but i'm sure the pipe yard will have sorted that out over the summer. Classic Swain ran a very sour race lto which was out of character and i'll dismiss that he was 2nd in this last year and should go well with a lb less to carry and a 3lb claimer on top and is my pick off the three Nicholls runners. Bottom weight Lord Ryeford had a year out but seems to be on his way back after easy win lto . The 11yo ran 4th in this in 09 off 132 with 10lb less to carry and must be considered here. CONCLUSION~ I think Malmook will be hard to beat and Ryeford is set for a big run off bottom weight but at the prices it's an e/w bet @ 20/1 SJ on CLASSIC SWAIN for me as well as combi FC & TC on all three

Backed him fair few times this summer and I think he still has a win or two in him. This is a difficult race however. Not sure AP gave him the best ride over hurdles lto. I expect Tom O'Brien to take cover today and 123 should still be a winnable mark, because he is very genuine and keeps finding under pressure.
