Has been running over hurdles a short time, has had 4 runs over hurdles and has been placed in 3 of them but it has been in very big fields. Was 3rd of 19 at Tipperary, 4th of 16 at Down Royal, 4th of 18 at Limerick and was 8th of 17 at Galway last time out. Unseated the jockey last time out and was very well backed to win that day and will be looking to gain compensation tomorrow. Finished twice 2nd in bumpers early in his career and almost won on debut for trainer when just failing to go past Casper's Shadow. Not sure Dickie Johnson gave him the perfect ride lto. Didn't have him clear at the hurdles and he made a mistake 3 out then again between horses at the 2nd last he jumped slowly. Traveled well and then stayed on to finish 2nd. Diamond MM ran really well yesterday to give the form some weight. Benmadigan also ran well the other day. Sagredo is a decent horse too, so all in all Ironical comes here in decent heart and should run well. Could get outbattled in a finish and I wouldn't be surprised if headgear is tried sometimes soon, but even without it he looks the form pick and the value bet in the race. Jockey A P McCoy is booked and he's always good to follow in Selling Hurdle races. The last 5 seasons have himself a strike rate of 35% in such races, 47 wins from 133 runs. He rides well here having a season strike rate of 36% over hurdles, 4 wins from 11. The selection raced well enough in two outings this year but his rivals were just too good.
