Jump Racing - 12/03/11

3:00 Sandown Ronaldo Des Mottes 1pt EW - 16/1 (William Hill) I've just taken some of the 20/1 available on Betfair for this horse as I think he has a fair chance despite shouldering top weight. I don't think a mark of 149 is that bad and he is definitely not a 20/1 shot in this field. He travelled nicely on his return for a long way behind Mille Chief and Celestial Halo before tiring in the closing stages. There's no reason to believe he can't run to similar form of his Tote Trophy second, when conceding weight to the winner, and that was off a mark of 142. The trip and ground will suit and he enjoys going right-handed. Can't see him going off at this price and the Pipe stable are going very consistently at the moment.

Re: Jump Racing - 12/03/11 1:55 Sandown: Brunswick Gold 2pts win 20/1 Bet365 & Captain Kirkton 1pt win 14/1 William Hill Brunswick Gold lines up here off 124 for his handicap debut. And while he has not got in lightly, he is presumably well thought of as he ran in the Grade 2 Neptune Management Novices at Cheltenham in January. Ahead of him were Bobs Worth and Rock On Ruby, who will feature next week and the ill fated Backspin. While he did not trouble them, he was not discraced so not unreasonable to think he can be competitive off this sort of mark. Captain Kirkton represents Gary Moore who is bang in form and often does well in these big handicaps. Captain Kirkton was a shade disappointing last time but previously had looked very much on an upward curve. This bigger field and a faster pace should suit. And with Jaime Moore back in the plate he looks likley to go well. 3:00 Sandown: Arayan 1pt win 8/1 Ladbrokes * Its hard to overlook the chances of Arrayan. He would have completed a hat trick if his jockey had not unseated last time. Although not winning he has been hiked up by the handicapper, yet that may not be enough to stop Arrayan. David Pipe has followed in his father's foot steps and has an excellent record in the race. * price available at time of original post. Also backed Andhaar 1pt e/w 25/1 - non runner 2pts lost. 3:35 Sandown: Baby Shine 1pt win 7/1 William Hill Its very hard to weigh a lot of the form up, however its hard to argue with three straight wins (one a point) posted by Baby Shine, and Lucy Wadham has a fine record with her bumper horses. Zhakiera Spirit won by a massive 34 lengths last time, however the third Looby Magoodle, was even further behind Baby Shine when running again. Swincombe Flame won her race when racing alone, so that's either very impressive or an excellent ride to benefit from the better ground. There could be some thing lurking at a big price and Kentford Grey Lady looks a clear danger, yet weighing it all up, Baby Shine has two solid bumper runs in the book, and at the price looks worth an interest.
