ogii55
Here is my view for the Academy awards, which will be given on 27 February. Best picture Social network 5.00 Paddy/bet365/WH Social network already won a couple of big awards, uncluding Golden Globe. The movie is a typical American one. It’s liked by the critics around the world, by the way it shows Facebook. The story is real. What about the main favorite King’s Speech? Great play by Colin Firth and Geofrey Rush. Firth seems unbeatable for Best actor, but the surroundings aren’t so cool. Sorry, but I think Social network deserves something better. I didn’t watch Black swan, but Daren Aronovski’s previous movie – The wrester was amazingly good and it’s the best role of Mickey Rourke got just two nominations. Very good odds for Social network here Best original screenplay The kids are alright 21.00 bet365/betfred… King’s speech is the big favorite here. Idea to make such a movie for a king, who can’t speak is nice, but we have this in the history book and it’s well known by most of the British people, who read the story in their history books. Inception is a real peace of mastership. Amazing idea, which is on the level of Matrix. For me it’s very strong proposition, but the screenplay that seems to me the most real from the other contenders is The kids are alright. The story of two lesbians with two kids and their biological father may tough everybody. It’s so real and it may be find everywhere in America. Just remember. Just see how close is the script to the previous winners as Juno (a pregnant teen), Milk (gey story), crash (racist problems), Little miss sunshine, Lost in translation … The kids are alright is not favorite to win some of the major Oscars, but here it may score very well with such a big odds. stereoman
Re: Academy awards 2010 It'd be a turn-up for the books after The King's Speech won BAFTA's 'Best Film' prize, the DGA award (for Tom Hooper), the PGA award and the SAG's 'Best Cast' award for it to lose 'Best Picture'. It'd be a precedent. It depends on what they feel of Harvey Weinstein's PR tactics for 'The King's Speech' but I don't think Scott Rudin's (one of the most hated men in Hollywood as he consistently buys up book rights for Oscarbait) PR for 'The Social Network' is any better. On Sunday, '60 Minutes' showed the discrepancies of what was fictionalised and what actually happened. 'The King's Speech' is of course merely a dramatisation but it doesn't stop desperate tactics from supporters of The Social Network to try and derail the chances of 'The King's Speech'. The best hopes of the main prizes for 'The Social Network' are David Fincher (for 'Best Director') and 'Best Adapted Screenplay'. Inception won the 'Best Original Screenplay' prize at the WGA awards ahead of The Kids Are All Right ('The King's Speech' was ineligible). I think David Seidler will follow up his BAFTA win with an Oscar win for 'The King's Speech'. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/social-network-inception-win-top-96962 I think you got lucky last year. You were right to pick 'Precious' but only because of the Jason Reitman backlash as he was reported to have sulked at some awards ceremony and the Oscars denied him the win for 'Up In The Air'. I don't think there is such a backlash for 'The King's Speech'. There ois of course a first time for everything. Watch for the odds. If 'The Social Network' moves below 7/2 we'll have an almost unbelievable upset on our hands.
