Sorry for the late replies guys, it seems the site was down this morning and I was out for an early lunch.

Don't know where you get the 'thousands' from Potus (or is it Mr President). Total losses over the 5 threads is in fact £249.26 with the golf results still to come. Not exactly a big amount. Thanks for your concern, much appreciated. I'm sure I can get it back though and I hope you can be big enough to give some praise if I do.

Don't worry vikki, it's water off a ducks back.

That's the total for the current threads yeah? I don't know when you quote it like that if it's because you're trying to mislead us or if it's so you can convince yourself that everything is ok? Every thread needs to be judged on its own merits, you can't seriously use a collective total to justify the farcical behaviour that goes on in some of your threads?

Your golf thread and both to score threads are currently very successful. Why not stick to those and perhaps try upping your stakes on the both to score bets and see if there's money to be made in either of those threads? Your threads for all different sports such as this one are a complete disaster though. It may take several months to get there sometimes but you are just p*ssing your money up the wall in those threads.

Also, the huge figures I talked about were relating to all your threads, not just current ones. Again quoting a current total which is round about break even (it varies that much from day to day that there is no point in me stating an exact figure) cannot be used as a defence against your overall losses. While it is a fair request to ask me for evidence, you're not seriously disputing my claim are you? I mean we all know none of your threads end because you get your new car or your £10k or whatever (ultimately irrelevant) target you set yourself. They end when you have blown your bankroll, which if I'm not mistaken is usually between £1000-£2000? We've all seen that, I assume you're not really disagreeing with that? Are you?!?

Seriously, will you ever stop? If you don't like what waggy is doing, then just stay out of looking at his threads. Do you have nothing better to do than biting at people all the time? You've said enough, everyone has read it all enough times too. Do you not get bored of writing it? You can have your own opinion but you're over the top about it all now. Just let waggy go and sort yourself out instead.

Waggy doesn't learn though. If I wasn't here, the only feedback would be your 'well done,' 'unlucky,' etc which isn't telling it like it is at all and certainly not helping things. Why not give some more honest feedback as to what goes on in Waggy's threads?

If Waggy actually places the bets listed here then they are splaffing thousands or even tens of thousands of pounds down the drain. I'm trying to give some advice to help turn that scenario around. None of what I'm saying is 'haha, you're useless, you failed again.' I'm saying 'why not try this instead' with my best suggestions to how it can be improved.

If you're putting your bets out there on a forum, then they're open to praise and criticism. It's ridiculous to think there can be one and not the other. If you think I'm at fault then surely you're more at fault for not offering any kind of balanced view and simply fawning over Waggy? I think you're doing far more damage than I am, but again that's just an opinion. The key point is, we are both entitled to an opinion.

Also, you claim that I've said enough and everyone has read my opinion enough. How can you not say the same about Waggy? I don't get that at all.

  3. You'd done the hard work - not withstanding getting really lucky with West Ham the other night - and got back into profit and then for some reason go £300 a pop on a football team at 5/6 and a horse at 6/4. I seriously wonder what goes on in your head.

Yet another Waggy thread begging to be put out of its misery.

  4. Just now, waggy said:

Already have done potus. Need to get back losses so I'm changing the rules. Today looks like being a good day.

Where does this end though Waggy? We've been here over and over and where does it end? With you losing your money.

How can people take you seriously when you state 'I'm going to do this' (bet a maximum of £300) and then you do the opposite?

You need Gamblers Anonymous or Gamcare or Samaritans, not Punters Lounge.

Back Marcos Baghdatis to beat Ryan Harrison at 1.73 with Skybet

I'm tremendously happy that Harrison upset Raonic, but this might be a bridge too far with a completely different obstacle at hand. Baghdatis isn't as one-dimensional as Raonic, he's going to mix and match things and that will really trouble the American in my opinion. I'm not saying that he's without a chance here, far from it, but I wouldn't have the Cypriot above 1.57 here.

Back Marin Cilic (-4.5) to beat Jack Sock at 1.91 with Paddy Power

This might be the highlight of the day on the men's side of things - or it might not considering how the forms of the two contrast. Cilic is flying high and he might even be a legitimate contender for the title in all honesty, while Sock could've easily lost against Fritz in the first round before getting a cake draw in the second. The Croat should take this and I think that he's going to take it easily enough as well more often than not.

Back Rafael Nadal (-7.5) to beat Alexander Kuznetsov at 1.91 with Paddy Power

Kuznetsov might have been able to keep things close against Nadal a couple of times in the past, but that was against the struggling version of Nadal, not against this rejuvenated one. The Spaniard is once again starting to peak and, while I don't know how well he will do against top opposition, his game works wonders against the more average of players and I can't see the Russian stopping him right now.

Back Roberta Vinci (-3.5) to beat Carina Witthoeft at 1.73 with BetVictor

Fair play to Witthoeft for getting here, but I'm afraid that Vinci could be a little bit of a nightmare for her with her tricky playing style that Witthoeft doesn't have much experience playing against. I was surprised to see Vinci crushing McHale and it does show that she's on a roll right now, so I'll give her a go on the games handicap here.

Back Caroline Wozniacki (-3.5) to beat Monica Niculescu at 1.75 with BetVictor

What a match Wozniacki played against Kuznetsova - it was her best performance for a very long time and that deserves a lot of respect. She will now be facing one of her best match-ups in Monica Niculescu and, considering that she's 12-0 against her in terms of sets, I think that she'll be able to get the job done comfortably. It's also worth noting that Niculescu had a medical timeout for whatever reason against Bogdan.

Back Naomi Osaka to beat Madison Keys at 6.00 with Ladbrokes

Upset special for the day and one that has a realistic chance of coming in imo considering that anything can happen when two ball-bashers meet. Both Keys and Osaka can hit the ball with raw power and serve well, so, if Osaka can get stuck in early on, she could have every chance of winning with Keys getting nervous and everything. The American also seemed to be struggling with some medical issues in the first round and those might appear once again if she gets pushed, so I feel that 6.00 is a bit too much against her.

Back Emilio Gomez (+3.5) to beat Nicolas Kicker at 1.83 with Paddy Power

Might be a bit strange to bet on Challenger when there's a Grand Slam going on, but there you go, I think that there's value in this one, as Kicker seemed to be tiring in the previous round, which is understandable considering that it's been tough for him having to travel from New York and adapt to completely different conditions. He nearly lost against a much weaker opponent than Gomez, who seems to be firing nicely right now, so I expect him to keep it tight at the very least.

I think quality over quantity would work better, particularly now you've stopped stating how many 'points' to stake on each bet.

Again not looking for anything fancy. In soccer betting I like to take trebles, and I don't repeat teams. A repeated team/player that loses destroy's your bets. Also I don't like to mix and match. I'll go 3 low priced favorites, or 2 outsiders, but not in the same bet.

    BET #1)

Carreno-Busta  to beat I Ivashka. 2/10 , Viktor Troicki to beat Radu Albot (2.2 to 10)

Fognini to beat Gabishville,   Ferrer to beat Dolgopolov (bad matchup for Dolgopolov)

Tomic to win    all for about 1.9 to 1 4 units

    BET #2)

Kolschriber to beat Mahut   --  Del Potro to win in straight sets  -- Verdasco to win 1st set  (gives about 5-1 2.5 units for me) . Del Potro wants a quick three setter and out of the heat. Verdasco is at least 50-50 to win 1st set, and Kolschrieber is just a solid player, always getting terrible 1st round draws in majors (finally now he gets a good one).

    BET #3)

Verdasco to beat Wawrinka  (think Warinka in the heat will really struggle, against a guy that has a winning record against him.)

Borna Coric to beat Lopez,  coming off fantastic form beating Nadal, Kyrigos and Paire in Cincinnati.  (about 7.2 to 1) , small bet for me (2 unit)

    BET #4)

Sousa to win, P-H Mathieu to win, Thiem to win, Simon to win (too hot for 37 year old Radek Stepanek to last the distance. Has Stepanek played any singles after Wimbledon ?      (2.5 units here)

    Bet #5) Longshot

Gianessi to beat Kudla, Coric to beat Lopez, Tosarevic to beat Querry  (gives 26 to 1 for 1 unit for me)

If I had to pick 2 upsets or very close games in the woman's  section

Camila Giorgi to beat Stosur (Stosur is so brittle and I like the way Giorgi plays)

    Julia Georges to beat Wickmayer

Haha, I think you may have gone and spoiled yesterday's good work.

Yesterday you kept it simple and today you look like you've got way over-confident after yesterday's win and you're betting on anything and everything.

Having lived in Philadelphia for a for years, you need to take the weather into account. Day games can be really hot and humid. Europeans not used to this will struggle. Today it's meant to be 31 degrees , 55% humidity. It's pretty hot especially for high physical exertion.

I'm not going for any outsiders.

Just want five reasonably low priced favorites to do the business.

    A Seppi to beat S.Robert (0.49)

    B. Paire to beat D. Lajovic (0.44)

    L. Pouille to beat M.Kukushkin (0.22)

    R. Bautista Agut to beat Garcia Lopez (0.25)

    N. Almagro to beat M. Fucsovics  (0.49)

Gives about 3.8 to 1 and you can probably get them to stretch it to 4 - 1.

I gotta be honest. I would'nt bet on woman's tennis if you gave me the money.

They are too inconsistent, and in a 2 set sprint all kinds of lousy stuff happens. They drop serve like pennies into a wishing well.

Now that is how you do it. No messing about trying to be too clever looking for big odds, 5 simple but good tips at reasonable prices. Some others on here could do well to take note. Keep it up!

Not much to be proud of there. Will try and prove you wrong. The golf saved me from total disaster.

Ah, you're meaning just your current threads? That's what confused me. Every thread of yours that I've seen has ended in disaster. Sadly, I'd expect the golf one to go the same way eventually but if it turns out you've found a winning formula there then you should probably just stick to that?

Just added up my threads potus and I am only £13.15 up. A poor return for my efforts. This will be THE day to take notice of you. Watch these spaces.

£13.15 UP??!? Seriously? Is most of that on your golf thread? I can't believe that you are up from the threads that I have seen.

I don't believe that you will change as you have said the same many times before but I'd love it if you proved me wrong.

  10. Waggy, even by your standards, you are all over the place at the moment.

You need a clear plan in place and some kind of logic as to why the plan could work. At the moment you are just fumbling around in the dark and even with the best knowledge and tips in the world you can't make money with that kind of (lack of) strategy.

'If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.'

Please make a change because this is painful to watch.

    HALEP VS KERBER

This certainly last the main course of the day with the others being respectable appetisers. However I feel the most competitive/interesting game will come from Williams/Shvedova. Back to my subject of discussion, this has all the traits of being very hard to call having exhausted all forms of reasoning. Of course when I get in this sort of situation, I use an elimination process that has worked for me over 75% of times. I expect it to work today as well in all honesty. I always make it a point of duty daily to check four main sources for their tips, punters lounge being one of them, to help me reach my conclusions. It is a personal activity understood by me alone as a result of following certain established traits among all that in the end moves me towards the winner. One of my sources is the tennis column in the racing post. The others are hidden online which I will not be naming. One of them is so scarily precise with its picks and has gone with Kerber. The racing post hits about 32% or lower on average and has gone with Halep. I conclude this way: There is a belief by most people that Kerber"s best surface is grass because she hits flat out and all the other positives that are always thrown in. I do not totally agree. She is comfortable playing on grass, but I really do not think she plays on it any better than she plays on clay. Just like Federer too, who I believe his best surface is clay. He was made King of Grass simply because he could not bear the title of a kingdom been governed by another ruler. Had Rafa not been in the same era, Fed would have been gov of clay. His forehand and backhand are testament to this point. Others may disagree. In the WTA unless you are extremely rubbish on a particular surface, all the top seeds seem to be equal all rounders. That is really the case here with the exception of Serena who operates with that extra mustard in her serve. Halep has always been a player that so much has been said about not the least being a potential no1....well, it was said at some point. She has proved that she can play well on grass at least to hold her own.  It matters not whether keys made 1000 errors or whether she gifted Halep the game, what matters is that Halep is on the move. Every champion will tell you that it has to require an element of luck to win titles. Halep also has the advantage of playing as the outsider for once against a player she knows she can beat. With the bigger handicaps carried by my other three sources, including my beloved punters lounge and even my Mr perfect who also went with Krrber on this occasion, I am going with the racing post 32% or less to confirm my pattern that has been delivering largely. Halep for the gusty win!!!!

Did anyone get a word of that??!?

Wales vs Belgium: Will the Belgian golden generation slay the Dragons?

One of the more intriguing Quarter Final games takes place tonight as the second ranked side in world football Belgium will play surprise package Wales on Friday night. On paper, there is only one winner but it was only 12 months ago that Chris Coleman's side beat Marc Wilmots' men by a 1-0 score-line in their qualifier in Cardiff. Can the Belgian golden generation finally fulfil their potential or will the Welsh cause the biggest shock in the tournament so far?

Total Goals Scored Under 1.5 @ 2.80 with BetVictor

Belgium Winning at HT and FT @ 2.90 with Coral

It certainly wouldn't be 'the biggest shock in the tournament so far,' that's a bizarre claim to make.

Back Stanislas Wawrinka to beat Juan Martin del Potro for a 7/10 stake at 1.61 with Skybet

Sick of the weather already, so here's a hoping that rain won't ruin yet another Grand Slam. Taking just one tomorrow, Wawrinka to beat Del Potro. As much as I like the Argentinian, he's yet to beat a player of Wawrinka's class in this season and I also believe that Wawrinka will be able to work with Del Potro's poor backhand. Unless Del Potro serves out of his skin, Wawrinka will take this comfortably.

    Full preview here: http://punts.pl/pEo4V1

Is that match on Friday? That is just a round two match, yeah? If so, I didn't realise they'd fallen that far behind schedule already.

  15. I'm very surprised at how decent the odds we are getting on Federer are against Marcus Willis.

There are so many potential bets - knowing my luck I'll pick the wrong one - but anything from 3-0 at 2/9, no tie-break at 4/9, or -8.5 games on the handicap or under 28.5 games on the total games line. I'm not sure why the bookies feel Willis will do that well, surely he is going to get absolutely destroyed, or am I missing something?

  16. Here are the players who I think look decent value today, but I would really appreciate thoughts on these matches from other posters as my knowledge of lower-ranked players is not great. Thanks.

    Lajovic 6/1 against Brown.

    Verdasco 7/4 against Tomic.

    Isner 8/15 against Baghdatis.

    Parmentier 12/5 against Siniakova.

    Konta 8/13 against Puig.

    Bacsinszky 1/7 against Kumkhum.

  17. Ricardas Berankis.......

You are in a Grand Slam and somehow you end up with a match against someone ranked over 700(!!!) places below you. That is a total gift of a draw and if you can't win a match like that then unfortunately you need to ask serious questions of your career choice. Goes without saying that he's cost me a fair bit of money there.

Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon @ 1.86 Betfair (1 pt)

The clamour to back Murray is understandable as his form is good and he has Lendl back in his corner, but if Djokovic plays his best then I'd say he's a class above everyone else and should win this. I can't see how he won't at least make the final and if he does his price to win should be lower than this no matter who he plays, so whilst it isn't a very original play I can see some value in the price.

Serena Williams to win Wimbledon @ 2.63 Skybet (1 pt)

Some might say that this price is too short given the emergence of Muguruza and the fact that Williams lost in the final of the Australian Open and the French Open, but I still think she is a worthy favourite here and would be shorter if it weren't for her loss to Muguruza at Roland Garros. It's worth noting though that clay has never been her favourite surface, and also that her record in this tournament is a lot stronger. She's still the one to beat in my opinion and as such I'm happy to back her to finally catch Graf on 22 Slams.

I haven't checked the odds Torque but do you not think the far greater value in the men's draw lies in just betting on Djokovic and Murray to make the final? Better price and more likely to happen. Obviously Djokovic as you say would be favourite but grass is Murray's best chance to beat him. I don't think the Lendl thing makes nearly as big a difference as people like to make out either, I think it was more a coincidence that he was Murray's coach at the point where Murray won 3 major titles. I certainly don't think having Lendl in his corner will suddenly give him the impetus to be able to compete with Djokovic as some of the media seem to think!

Poland has a chance to win the Group C if they win and score at least 1 more goal than Germany (goal difference is +2 to Germany, +1 to Poland). Ukraine has showed lack of team spirit, 0 points and goal difference 0:4 means they are already packing bags, goals are likely. I expect RUS vs WAL style meltdown, whereas Northen Ireland vs Germany is more than likely to be tight game. NIR will fight for a point, Germany will also rest some players.
    1.5units
Poland to win group C @ 5.5 betfair

    I totally agree.

Poland to win the group is 5/1 at Bet365 and Poland to win the group with Germany finishing 2nd is 6/1. Both look like good value, as Ukraine look like a worse team than Northern Ireland. Does anyone know who finishes ahead if Germany and Poland have identical points and goals for and against? That looks possible and if it's the case, I assume it comes down to yellow cards (and red cards if they receive any.)

I don't see any value there whatsoever. The tournament is so low scoring (averaging exactly 2 goals per game) and you're taking all six teams to score today at odds of well under 10-1? I can't see it happening and backing it at that short a price is giving away money.
