  1. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Saturday TV preview: 4pts Birmingham to beat Durham 6/5 Stan James 5pts Under 9.5 sixes 5/6 William Hill The fact that Durham play in Derby on Friday night almost has to go against them here and given that Birmingham are the better side and have the fresher side going into this match they look good value at 6/5. With the bowling attack they have and Ian Bell bolstering their batting then even if Durham weren’t jaded from their exploits on Friday night they would look big so I’m happy to take the Bears here. Another bet which catches my eye is the sixes. The last match here saw 182 play 176 and there were only eight sixes. I’m not expecting to see a match as high scoring as that here but even if we do we only need to look at the first match here where Durham made 174/8 against Northants but only hit two sixes to know that a line of 9.5 is too high. I mentioned right at the start of the tournament how Birmingham don’t hit many sixes so that line shouldn’t come close to being threatened. 2. Re: Dutch Darts Masters Not a great start to the day but hopefully a match bet tonight can land. 4pts J.Klaasen to beat A.Norris 8/11 Paddy Power I know these best of 11 matches skew the odds a little bit but even so I think on current form Klaasen is worthy of being a little shorter than he is. He has just made the final of a tour event two weekend's ago where he beat Adrian Lewis, Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock among others on the way and he has a win over Norris this year too which could possibly be the bigger thing. Norris is a big stage player and we have to recognise that but we've already seen the Dutch crowd cheer on two Dutch players to victory in the afternoon session and Klaasen will have the crowds on his side here despite his chequered past. Alan Norris went past the last 32 of a tour event for the first time since March in that event Klaasen made the final in and while that is a welcome sign it hardly paints a big picture of his form which hasn't been great despite a bright start to his PDC career. We know how good Norris is at his best but I fancy Klaasen to have him covered here.

  3. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Good luck CB. Couple more for me tonight. 4pts Middlesex to beat Glamorgan 10/11 William Hill I was at the Middlesex game last night and thought for most of Hampshire's innings they had things under control but it all went tits up for them at the death with Owais Shah got stuck into a Steven Finn over late on and that pushed Hampshire out of sight but I think Middlesex are worth chancing again tonight. First of all that weird game at The Oval aside, this Glamorgan batting line up haven't offered a lot in this competition and secondly Middlesex have Kyle Abbott back tonight to help with their bowling at the end of the innings. That gives Middlesex much more strength at the start and the end with the ball and I think we saw enough last night, and have seen plenty in their matches so far to see they're going well with the bat. Glamorgan have bowlers you can target so if Middlesex are clever they should have too much here. 4pts Yorkshire vs Lancashire - Under 10.5 sixes 5/6 Stan James There has never been more than 10 sixes in a Roses match on this ground and I'm far from convinced there is going to be here too. This is one T20 match where winning is probably more important than entertaining and I expect that to keep the big hits low. We might not need the big hits to be kept low because Lancashire have only hit one six in this entire tournament so far in three matches so clearly they lack a fluency with the bat. That might change tonight with Jos Buttler back in the side but I'd be surprised if they go from one six in three matches to plenty in one innings. It might not be a surprise that they haven't hit a lot of sixes as Ashwell Prince isn't a big hitter and they all bat around him. Not many others are in form though. Both bowling attacks and good but even the top order for Yorkshire aren't huge hitters. Although Yorkshire are more competent in the six hitting I would expect any boundaries that do come to be mainly along the deck so I'm happy with under 10.5 sixes here believing that the line will prove to be a couple too many.

  4. Re: Dutch Darts Masters Two outrights for me. 2pts ew J.Wade to win Dutch Darts Masters 8/1 Bet365 (1/2 1-2) James Wade looks to have landed himself with a plum draw in this tournament. In the bottom half of the draw literally none of the seeds have shown much form in recent times apart perhaps from Ian White so there is absolutely no reason why Wade can't gallop his way to the final of this event if not a bit further than that. Wade has made the quarter final or better in his last eight tour events and he put up a strong challenge to Anderson in Dubai last weekend before coming up short but with Taylor, Anderson, Lewis and Barneveld all swerving this event ahead of next week the tournament is wide open in behind van Gerwen, who unlike Wade has landed himself in an awful portion of the draw with Chisnall, Whitlock and King all in his quarter. Wade is going well and with this draw even at 8/1 he's overpriced this weekend. 0.5pts ew D.Gurney to win Dutch Darts Masters 150/1 Ladbrokes (1/2 1-2) Daryl Gurney is in the same half as James Wade albeit the other quarter of the draw from him so there is no need to repeat the detail about the draw. Obviously Gurney isn't expected to come through but he is a real streaky player who when it is his day can score anyone out of the water and if his doubles go in he's tough to beat. He has a couple of semi-finals on tour this year which shows his pedigree and with the potential for this draw to open right up it is worth chancing the Northern Irishman at a big price for this field, draw and the talent he has.

  6. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Friday TV preview: 4pts Yorkshire to beat Lancashire 4/6 Betway If this were horse racing you could use a direct form guide between the two sides in their matches against Derbyshire. Yorkshire dispatched them with ease and Lancashire were well beaten but this isn’t horse racing this is T20 cricket and the unpredictability that comes with it. That said it is hard to ignore Yorkshire’s record in this particular fixture and with some real quality back in their ranks I fancy them to get the job done here. Lancashire haven’t scored more than 140 in their last two matches and it won’t be easy against this attack either. Yorkshire would have made well over 150 in all three of their matches so far and with their batting strengthened they look good things here. 9. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Thursday TV preview: 4pts Middlesex to beat Hampshire 6/5 Coral This should be a really good match. If Paul Stirling was available I would be all over Middlesex here. As it is I still fancy them because I think their seam attack will get through a light looking Hampshire batting line up but I don’t carry the same levels of confidence as I would if Stirling was playing. Even without Stirling a batting line up containing Compton, Malan, Morgan, Burns and Franklin still looks good enough to get the job done as does a bowling attack consisting of Finn, Abbott and Roland-Jones with the spinners. Hampshire are a great 20 over side but Middlesex like it here and can enjoy being here once again. 11. Re: West Indies vs Australia - Test Series 1st Test preview: 4pts M.Samuels' Performance Pts - 92&Over 5/6 Bet365 One man I think will go well in this match is Marlon Samuels. Obviously he is extraordinarily talented with the bat and we saw that in the series with England but he could be just as useful on this wicket with the ball. The slower wicket will nullify some of the pace of the Australian bowlers but that isn’t too much of an issue because he has faced them all before but it certainly helps proceedings. I fancy him to be used a lot with the ball especially if partnerships get going and given the record spin has on this ground he could well pick up wickets like he has often throughout his career so adding all of that up I think a performance line of 92 is well within reach for the man who is probably the most senior West Indies player in the side now. 12. Re: West Indies vs Australia - Test Series Series preview: 3pts J.Taylor Top West Indies Series Bowler 5/2 William Hill One area where a bit of value does exist is the Top West Indies Series Bowler. Jerome Taylor looked really good in the series against England recently and given that the second Test of this series will be on his home ground he is worth backing in this series. Kemar Roach is way too hit and miss for my liking and Jason Holder is still finding his way with the ball in this format of the game. Of course someone like Devendra Bishoo could be a danger if the wickets turn which they probably will but Australia are going to have some inexperience in their batting line up at times in this series which could be exposed by the pace and the late swing that Taylor is capable of getting. He took 11 wickets in two matches against England and a similar return here will be enough to see him lead the home side’s wicket list in this series. 13. Re: First Utility Super League 2015 4 for me for the Magic Weekend. Off to the PL race meet shortly so no huge writeups. 4pts Hull KR to beat Hull FC 7/5 Betway For me Hull KR are the better side and with the ball players in their side this big pitch should be to their advantage. I'm not convinced Hull FC can win a high scoring match but KR definitely can. I think this will be high scoring which makes the value bet on the red half of Hull. 4pts Leeds (-2) to beat Wigan Evs BetVictor Leeds are the best team in Super League at the minute and I expect them to show why again here. Wigan have been struggling in the big matches with a young side and they took an absolute hiding in France last week. If anything Leeds are getting better and better, I expect their forwards to win the battle up front and with that the Rhinos can run out winners in the match. 3pts Catalans to beat Huddersfield 13/10 Bet365 Catalans are steadily improving and this scene is right up their street. A big pitch and a licence to entertain is perfect for them. In fairness it is for Huddersfield too although I'm not convinced their attacking players are on top form at the minute. If they are this will be a high scoring match but it is one I fancy the Dragons to win. 3pts Warrington to beat St Helens 6/5 Bet365 Warrington haven't been great this season but in the big matches they have beaten Leeds and St Helens this season already. Their wide players will love the big open spaces on this Newcastle pitch and their aggressive forwards have plenty of space to run into. St Helens have been up and down since Easter and I'm not sure wins over Widnes and Wakefield do much to convince me they are back in form. This should be a close match but the value lies with the Wolves here.

  14. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Found another. 4pts Somerset to beat Essex 4/5 Ladbrokes Somerset have become a decent enough price tonight. Essex have one win in four matches in this tournament so far. Somerset have played one and lost it but they have the Gayleforce in their side for the first time tonight and if that doesn't boost them then nothing will. Sohail Tanvir is back from international duty as well so their batting and their bowling has been reinforced. Essex have a similar side to the one which played last week and while they look well stocked with the bat they look very open with the ball and Chris Gayle has taken apart much better attacks than this one on much bigger grounds than Chelmsford. I fully expect Somerset to be too strong with the bat and the ball here.

  15. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 One more for today. 5pts Surrey to beat Kent 4/5 William Hill Not much to add to last night really. I don't rate Kent much and we saw their batting fail them. It is always hard to back up a match the next day especially when you get humped like they did. Surrey are getting stronger and stronger this season and with Moises Henriques and Azhar Mahmood joining them ahead of this match they are only going to get stronger. It is hard to see where Kent can make changes and although they are unlikely to bat as badly as they did last night with the talent at Surrey's disposal even if Kent bat to their best it still might not be enough. I'm happy to take Surrey at this price.

  16. Re: Boxing - May 29-30 Weekend previews: 4pts K.Brook to win on points 21/10 Bet365 If Gavin needed a boost to his belief going into this fight then surely James DeGale gave him that last weekend. His former amateur teammate coasted to a world title win and while this one will be a lot tougher for the Brummie it isn’t one he has to totally fear. I still think Brook will win the fight but I don’t think this will be all one way traffic. We’ve got to assume that an opportunity like this will bring out the very best Frankie Gavin and if we do we’re going to see a classy operator. Whether he has the power to beat Brook I’m not sure but I do expect him to have periods where he’s on top but when this one is signed to the books I think Brook will have won a decision. 5pts K.Mitchell to beat J.Linares 5/4 Boylesports Mitchell looks really good at the minute. He dismantled Daniel Estrada in his last fight and has stopped his last five opponents. His hand speed has always been there but his power has really come on and I believe he will find Linares’ chin. Whether the champion has the heart to get up again remains to be seen but with Mitchell being the outsider we don’t need to sweat on knockouts or anything as the Londoner looks a cracking bet at 5/4. 3pts E.Gradovich to beat L.Selby 5/2 Stan James I’d like Selby to win the title but I am more than a little worried that he isn’t going to do enough to get a decision. It would be easy for judges to score any even rounds for the champion in this fight because of the crazy amount of punches he throws. Selby is going to have to be at his best defensively and pick the right moments to attack but whether he will have enough of those moments I’m not entire sure. One thing which is certain is their styles will gel magnificently so this will be a great watch but for me the value is now in the champion. 4pts A.Khan to win on points 7/5 Betfair Algieri was in with the Pacman but he was heavily outclassed in that fight and I expect him to be even more outclassed here. Amir Khan gets a bad press in England for some reason. This isn’t the time or place to get into that but if you look through that bad press you will see a fighter who is improving all the time. I thought he looked top notch against Devon Alexander. Is Khan the finished article? Not for me no. There are opponents I’m sure will expose him in the future but with all respect Algieri isn’t one of them. Khan can look good against this guy and I think the speed and the power he possesses will be enough to get this job done. Algieri got up six times against Pacquiao and a couple more against Provodnikov the time before that so we shouldn’t underestimate his heart so he can hear the final bell but he won’t win the fight. 17. Re: FA Cup Final - Arsenal v Aston Villa > Saturday May 30th 5pts Over 2.5 goals 17/20 Betway One bet I do like is for there to be over 2.5 goals. Not all finals are open affairs but I think this one will be purely because I don’t see how Aston Villa can go 90 minutes with Arsenal and keep them out. The only way they’re going to win the cup is to fight fire with fire and that might well suit a side like Arsenal just fine. In big matches this season Arsenal’s defence has gone missing so we shouldn’t rule out Villa finding the back of the net at some point but as the league matches between the two have shown, they might not need to so I’m all for over 2.5 goals here. 18. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Friday TV preview: 4pts Lancashire to beat Derbyshire 4/5 Betway It is hard to see past Lancashire in this match. Derbyshire have a marquee top two and a couple of other batsmen but they look a couple of batsmen short to me and they might be a top bowler short too. Lancashire look well balanced with a number of all rounders in their side but James Faulkner’s arrival gives firepower in the middle-lower order and a genuine death option with the ball. Not only does he bring those credentials on the field but he will give plenty of insight off it. I like the Lancashire attack and the way it is set up and they have a solid batting line up with aggressive batsmen and those who can bat through the order. Derbyshire’s poor record in this tournament is there for all to see and Lancashire can make it worse here. 21. Re: Dubai Masters 28-29 May Bit late but two for the QFs. 4pts G.Anderson (-2.5 legs) to beat J.Wade Evs BetVictor Gary Anderson is flying at the minute and I'm not sure Wade is going to compete here. Anderson's scoring power has been there for all to see and the big finishes are no longer being missed as we saw with that deciding leg finish against Chisnall in the Premier League last week. Wade has been missing more and more doubles as the year has gone on and he doesn't have the scoring power to live with Anderson over a 19 leg match so I fully expect the world and Premier League champion to win his debut in this tournament with a bit in hand. 4pts P.Wright (+3.5 legs) to beat P.Taylor 10/11 BetVictor Peter Wright heads to Dubai with another tour title behind him and that is a good position to build from confidence wise. It remains to be seen how Phil Taylor will go here. You'd think he will be smarting from missing out on the o2 but at the same time he was unable to go deep in either tour event at the weekend so his form hasn't automatically come back. Wright was averaging well over 100 in that win at the weekend and if he has that sort of form with him in this match he is going to be hard to beat. We've seen in the past how Wright never fears Taylor and he thrashed him in this round of this tournament 12 months ago. I wouldn't rule out him winning again but I'll err on the side of safety and take the handicap.

  22. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Two other bets for tonight. 4pts Leicestershire vs Durham - Over 36.5 boundaries 5/6 William Hill I think this boundary line could be a bit low. Admittedly Grace Road is a big outfield but the wicket is flat as a pancake and the outfield should still be quick but when you add in all the razzmatazz things like the flames, speakers, gunge tank etc etc that go around with the Sky matches and I would expect the boundaries to be in a bit, especially straight where they are not the biggest anyway. Both sides are absolutely full of batsmen and neither have a genuinely class spinner and Collingwood is probably the only bowler who takes pace off the ball so plenty of pace will come down which should lead to both genuine and streaky boundaries. I'm expecting a pretty high scoring match here and one which can have at least 37 boundaries be it fours or sixes. 4pts Middlesex to beat Kent 10/11 William Hill I'm happy to take Kent on again here. They beat Hampshire the other night but a lot of that was down to Alex Blake and I don't believe he's going to produce innings like that in successive matches so someone else is going to have to stand up and be counted. Even if he does bat well Kyle Abbott is unlikely to send down the sort of filth Hampshire did at the end of their innings the other night anyway. Middlesex have Eoin Morgan and Kyle Abbott in from the IPL for this match while Joe Burns, Steven Finn and James Franklin provide further international quality too. Dawid Malan returns from injury for the home side as well and given that Kent remain without their only genuine economic bowler in Tredwell I think the 10/11 on Middlesex winning here should be a good thing.

  23. Re: England vs New Zealand - Test Series 2nd Test preview: 4pts Draw 10/11 Ladbrokes Unfortunately it has to be said that the forecast for this match is not good. Unlike some places this isn’t the best draining ground either so any significant rain could lead to lengthy delays so given that both sides showed their strength with the bat at Lord’s and coupled with the fact both sets of bowlers have a number of overs in their legs I think even at slight odds on the draw is a pretty decent bet in this match. 1pt BJ Watling Top New Zealand 1st Inns Batsman 10/1 Skybet We saw in the first Test that BJ Watling is looking good with the bat. He can dig in and survive like he did for so long in the second innings and he can flourish and flow like he did in the first innings and that bodes well for him. His 61 in the first innings at Lord’s probably went unnoticed with the special innings that took place in that match but it was important. We saw in the second innings that McCullum is happy to promote him to face the new ball if early wickets are lost and Watling showed that his technique is more than good enough to do so which leads me to think there is plenty of value in the 10/1 on the Kiwi keeper top scoring in the first innings here. 24. Re: NatWest T20 Blast 2015 Thursday TV preview: 4pts P.Collingwood's Performance - 34pts or more 10/11 Bet365 Paul Collingwood goes into this match off the back of a match winning 127 against Worcestershire in the County Championship in midweek so he’ll be seeing it like a football and will be full of confidence. We all know how good a one day player he is from his England days. He bats, bowls and he’s still a dynamite fielder. Collingwood has scores of 30 and 27 in the Blast this season and he’s already taken a wicket against Northants. A combination of the three facets of the game should see him earn a performance total of at least 34 if not a few more.
