  3. One for me this afternoon. 4pts S.Beaton to beat M.Webster Evs Bet365 Mark Webster came through yesterday and he might have an advantage in that but he was pretty ordinary it has to be said and even though Steve Beaton isn't the worst seed you could run into the Welshman is still going to have to improve dramatically on that effort if he is to come through this match. Beaton has looked ok in recent times and is in the Matchplay next week and will be looking to win some matches on his way to that tournament. His match with Gary Stone in the last of the European events a few weeks ago was one of the best I've seen him play. Even 75% of that should get the job done this afternoon against a Webster who looks totally shot on his doubles at the minute.

  5. Game 21 preview: 4pts C.Gayle Top Jamaica Batsman vs Barbados 7/4 Ladbrokes The match markets for this game look about right so now could be the time to board the Chris Gayle bandwagon. He is in an amazing run of form right now. His last 10 scores have been 41, 92, 151*, 85*, 9, 90*, 72*, 8, 64* and 105 so he is going fantastically well and even at 7/4 he is Jamaica’s most likely top scorer. 6. Couple for me away from the TV tonight. 4pts Hampshire to beat Surrey 10/11 Stan James While Hampshire's season isn't going to plan they have an excellent record against Surrey at the Ageas Bowl and they will be confident of extending that with Surrey having no Gary Wilson and Matthew Dunn, two fairly important players for them. On the flip side Hampshire are without Sean Ervine but he will only be missed with the bat because he's hardly bowled in the tournament but they still have enough batting to cope with that. Surrey's power with the bat is up top which should suit Hampshire ok and that could be why they have such a good record over Surrey. I'll back it to continue tonight. 4pts Durham to beat Yorkshire 11/8 Coral I know I've been critical of Durham's exploits against spin in this tournament but I still think they are worth chancing tonight. Yorkshire have named four youngsters in their squad of 14 so it appears they might have given this tournament up and that probably isn't the wrong thing as they need a miracle to qualify anyway. Durham don't. They are right in the mix and a win here will push them closer to the last eight. They have named their strongest available squad which doesn't include Calum MacLeod but it does include everyone else who is important to them with the exception of their England duo. Yorkshire are missing plenty to England too so at the price and given that Yorkshire look to have waved the white flag I'll go Durham here.

  8. Game 19 preview: 4pts St Kitts and Nevis to beat St Lucia 11/10 Ladbrokes I think St Kitts and Nevis are worth another go in this match. I know they let us down in their last match but Darren Sammy’s influence on any side is a big thing and he is going to be a big loss for them. Kevin Pietersen’s captaincy record is another to write home about and I think St Lucia’s pace attack won’t suit this wicket. St Kitts are much better suited to these conditions and can bounce back from Wednesday’s disappointment with a win here. 9. Friday TV preview: 4pts S.Northeast Over 25.5 runs 5/6 Coral I think Kent are worthy favourites but I think the better bet lies with their captain in this match. Sam Northeast likes batting against Somerset. In two knocks against them at 3 he has scores of 73 and 114 so this attack clearly suits his eye. He’s in good form having passed 50 in three of his last five innings in this tournament and he has a solid 30 in that time too and given how well he is batting and the fact he’s the one they all bat around I like him to reach 26 in this innings. 12. Another one for me. 4pts Australia 1st inns lead 11/10 William Hill 400 has been put up in both Test matches in the first innings on this ground and both totals have been swamped by the side batting second and I've seen nothign to suggest England have got enough runs on this wicket which looks pretty flat. Admittedly Australia have bowled some filth but England are unlikely to get up to 400 and if they do it won't be many more than that. This Australia line up isn't in form as a collective unit but their middle order looks strong and they can all hold a bat all the way down. Even if the top order fail we've seen this Australia lower order bail them out against England time and again in recent series so Australia will fancy their chances of going past England. In fact the way the match is set up Australia could have England under big pressure if they bat well as they could build a really big lead. I have Australia favourites to cover England's total so I love this 11/10.

  13. Game 18 preview: 4pts Jamaica vs T&T - Under 14.5 sixes 5/6 William Hill The sixes line for this match is at 14.5 and even though there were 15 in the first match here I think that line is a little high. Usually scores get lower and lower here and given that the Red Steel’s can barely buy a run they might not contribute too many to the pot. T&T can bowl well though and if Gayle goes early not many Jamaicans are in form so I’ll take the unders here. 14. Game 17 preview: 4pts St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to beat Guyana Amazon Warriors 11/10 Stan James I think the Patriots have the ideal bowling attack for this ground and given the light batting that Guyana have I think the home side have to be the call in this one. Guyana might be competitive with the ball but St Kitts and Nevis have found a groove with the bat now and their depth and bowling mite should see them home here. 15. 1st Test preview: 4pts B.Stokes Performance - Over 105.5pts 5/6 Paddy Power Stokes is always going to be in this game be it with the bat, the ball or in the field and as such I think a performance total of 105.5 looks well within his range. Stokes covered this line in two of the four matches he played against Australia down under and he is much more established now. He is going to bat at six and bowl plenty of overs so a couple of wickets and a couple of scores in the 30s gets him home here and that is well within his range. 16. Series preview: 4pts England (+1.5 matches) to beat Australia 21/20 Unibet 1pt England to win 3-2 28/1 Betfred 1pt Australia to win 3-2 16/1 Bet365 However the series ends if they win two matches that is safe and with Edgbaston and Old Trafford good grounds for the hosts they have chances to win their two matches on those venues. A small correct score bet on 3-2 either way could yield dividends too. 1pt B.Stokes Top England Series Batsman 10/1 Stan James Ben Stokes only played four matches when England went out to Australia but he showed he can counter attack this top bowling attack and scored 279 in eight innings. He showed against New Zealand how he rises to the occasion and I think he’ll rise again. At 10/1 he’s good value here. 1pt B.Haddin Top Australia Series Batsman 40/1 Unibet This will be Brad Haddin’s last Ashes series. He has made a habit of terrorising England down the order and Australia’s lower order have dominated England for quite some time and that is a theme which could continue in this series. Three of Haddin’s four centuries have come against England and he averages a full 10 more against England than in his Test career so he raises his game in this battle and at 40/1 it could be worth paying to see if he raises it one last time. 1pt A.Rashid Top England Series Bowler 20/1 Betway Devendra Bishoo ran amok against Australia in the first Test of the series and although he isn’t certain to start the first Test here it could be worth taking a chance that Adil Rashid does start and has the same effect as Bishoo. Yasir Shah took 12 wickets in two matches against Australia last year so they do seem to have a problem against leg spin. At 20/1 there’s enough in the price to chance Rashid in this series. 3pts M.Starc Top Australia Series Bowler 13/5 Unibet I like Starc though because he bowls longer spells than Johnson and swings the ball both ways. Trent Boult has already shown England’s weakness against left armers this summer so I expect Mitchell Starc to have fun and even though he’s the favourite he’s worth taking here. 17. Game 16 preview: 4pts Jamaica Tallawahs to beat St Lucia Zouks 10/11 Ladbrokes Jamaica battered St Lucia in the reverse fixture between these two and now that they are on home soil I expect a repeat here. Jamaica look to have the perfect balance to their attack for this wicket with good spin options and a seam attack that are adept at bowling slower balls. 18. Game 15 preview: 4pts St Kitts and Nevis to beat Barbados 11/8 Ladbrokes Barbados were well beaten in their previous match and now have to do without Malik and it isn’t just his batting that is a loss, his off spin could be more than useful here too. St Kitts are at home as well and they have enough going for them for me to take them as a value punt here. 19. Couple for me this week. 4pts Middlesex to beat Nottinghamshire Evs Boylesports Middlesex look a decent enough price to me here. They will be without Steven Finn but in James Harris they have the leading wicket taker in the division and there is enough in support of him to mean Finn won't be missed as badly as he might have in previous seasons. Middlesex do have Dawid Malan back with the bat and Eoin Morgan is in their ranks too. Paul Stirling is away with Ireland but he doesn't really deliver regularly in four day cricket anyway. Nottinghamshire are without James Taylor which could be a blow and one or two of their top order have just dropped their form but they are struggling for bowlers with injuries running through the side and that could be the difference because Middlesex do bat a long way down. Nottinghamshire won last week but Worcestershire handed them that match. I don't expect Middlesex to do that so I'll go with Middlesex here. 4pts Kent to beat Leicestershire 10/11 Stan James Kent aren't having the best of four day seasons but they still shouldn't be this price. They were competitive against the Australians last wee despite resting their bowling attack and that should give them some confidence to take into this match. Leicestershire made the news for beating Essex earlier in the season but they haven't kicked on from there and with his wife due to give birth imminently you would expect Mark Cosgrove will be missing for this match even though he's been named in the squad. Niall O'Brien is also missing which won't be helpful. Kent are at full strength and I think they'll have too much for the Foxes here.

  21. Sunday TV preview: 4pts Worcestershire to beat Durham Evs Bet365 Worcestershire are going along nicely in this competition and have already touched off Nottinghamshire this weekend so they don’t fear big reputations. Their bowling has gone well all season and they know how to bat on their own wicket so I’m with Worcestershire here.
