I'd be interested in a discussion for improvement to the thread if someone else wanted to have a go - it was mentioned about certain if people put up a bet with good rationale then the author would follow but not with other people's bets. Perhaps we could nominate a select few and then present the potential bets (whether banker or value) to a nominated person/the panel for selection or dismissal? The possibilities are endless, but this may just cause to make everyone disagree...

    Re: 2006 - 365 days of guaranteed profit BANKER BETS ONLY It's been busy here whilst I was away... with 3 losses and one winner (at 1.03) from the last 4 settled bets, I think it's showing that we may be flogging a dead horse. I've updated the stats below but will now end this thread as an unworkable system. Should anyone wish to create a similar thread (or variations) then I give you my full backing - I'm still sure there is a workable version achievable, and hopefully there is a better person out there will be able to take some inspiration from here and make it into a success. The conversation through this thread highlights the many different approaches that can be applied to create a similar system.     I got a banker bet for you. This thread not to be in profit come the end of Feb 06! Odds will be that skinny it's not worth backing!! Seriously, I can't get over some of the bets that have lost, it's incredible! Like Tomas' one today for Ghana to beat a very average Zimbabwe side and they go and lose the match, what the fcuk! Hope it picks up for you Ali, I'm sure it can only get better mate.
    will give it a little bit longer, but is proving to be a lot of work to lose money so quickly :sad. Dunno how much rope I'm prepared to chuck at it before I release the trap door... ah well. Unlucky Tulenos - perhaps its the thread, I'm starting to think it's cursed! There's probably a lot of money to be made by laying all these bets....

    Re: strategy vs. non-strategy i agree with the above posts in that the move away from fun to serious gambling for me has seen the record keeping as a valuable resource - it can give you a good insight as to where your strengths and weaknesses are in order apply your own strategy to your style of winning.

    Hmm not at all actually, but it's very interesting , good luck with it. I wasn't talking about your betting. I was talking about the strike rate on this thread, and the average odds of peoples bankers. I would have expected a higher striker rate than 66% for bets that people are classifying as certain to win. I was also wondering average odds that people are picking as certainy winners, I'd expect it to quite low, we need 1.5 to break even with this strike rate. In order to turn this thread round into profit (which i'm sure we'll do), we either need to improve strike rate, or increase average odds.
    :$ For this thread, I was expecting that the average odds would be around 1.20 requiring an 80% strike rate in order to break even but would have expected that banker bets would have returned around 95% - this has not been the case as can be seen. I would envisage that the way to turn this thread round will require more bets at lower odds (that actually win ;) ) rather than increasing the odds, as this would indicate more of a risk.
    Footy - African Nations Cup Tuesday 5 pm Ghana to bt Zimbabwe @ 1.29 *BlueSquare* This is a standout bet at a standout price, other books and exchanges are 1.25 @ best or rather 1.2ish. No need to elaborate a lot about Zimbabwe they are simply too bad. Moreover, sitting rock bottom of the group with no chance to qualify. Ghana, who are expected to qualify anyway and will go for a win to qualify for sure. They are third with the first two playing each other so - there is a little problem as if Sengal beat Nigeria just by a single goal, Ghana will need to win by three. Taking an AH would be too risky though as African teams use modern means of communication so if Nigeria are winning comfortably during the second half, there is nothing to force the Ghanians to attack any more. Have seen a lot of ANC matches in the past and some of them were merely finished by kicking the ball in the middle of the field by BOTH teams for twenty minutes (when there was nothing to play for). A straight win is the best looking banker in a long time, though.;)

    Re: Next England manager The finances will attract many people and is likely to be one of the best offers in the game (especially for money/games ratio) so I agree fully on this point but support wise? Iran can get 120,000 for a home game, the Dutch supporters all wear orange (which can make a cracking view, I bet, if you are a Dutch player on the pitch seeing a sea of your country's colour in the crowd) and Brazilian women get their tits out for the lads. If Englands support was that good, then the treatment dished out by the scum media would not be tolerated. I would agree that England has a decent following, but would stop short of being the best. To say the next manager, if from abroad, would be looking at the pound signs more than the players in front of him would be something that would be examined by the press at some stage. The problem with big money is tht it does not guarantee you the best man for the job. With the right man, and the development of players in specific areas (ie left wing and defensive midfield), England should have serious claims on the 2008 tournement. The potential is certainly there.

    Re: 2006 - 365 days of guaranteed profit BANKER BETS ONLY the strike rate I had for my original staking plan was 66% at odds of 4/6 but have put aside the next two years approx, to get my systems sorted, staking plans established and most of my debts paid in order to start seriously looking at making gambling my main income. What I've found is that for simple 1x2 betting, my average odds with success tend to be around the 1.3-1.4 odds. My patience with the betting is something i'm beginning to master and why my stakes are not high at this point in time - I'm trying to only bet on matches that, if/once my staking plans have reached the specific stage, I would be happy to put on £1000 - hence the figure I used at the start of this thread. Unfortunately, this is often putting me off the bigger priced bets, but since I've started to do this, my profit yield is increasing. However, with other markets, such as under/over 2.5, my average odds are around 1.90-2.00. But here, my bets are less frequent. Again, relatively speaking, my systems are still in infancy so I will not get a good idea as to the long term success until a good length of time has passed. I'm currently running approx 12 systems at the moment (ranging from very promising to very risky) and am dropping/introducing systems over time. Hope this is what you meant?

    Re: Martingale registry - I genuinely wish the the very best of luck :ok - £15,500 would just about cover the remainder of my debts before the mortgage - you obviously ain't a nurse :lol. You can obviously afford to lose the money that you are gambling if you are rich but that does not mean that you want to lose it. I think you're taking a massive gamble using this staking plan. Doesn't mean that it won't work but there are many other methods that may be more profitable in the long term. You may be good at what you do and you may even get this bet working very profitably for yourself, but try not to be too big-headed so that you don't wander around the Punters Lounge and see what others are doing. There's plenty to learn if your mind is open. None of us here can claim to know it all but collectively we can make a bloody good attempt at making the bookies pay us. Will watch with interest.:hope

I wouldn't see him as a succsessor, but another possible for the back seat driver position maybe?
