  1. Re: PL Internet Poker Bragging Thread This shouldnt really go here but I have to brag about it :o :o ...theres no casino forum anymore Was playing an online casino today, notably a slot machine. I was playing at 100 quid a spin (seriously no joke....it was the sensible thing to do trust me :lol) On my first spin I wagered 100 and got the 100 back, on the second this happend. whack7nw.jpg

  2. Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments Hi Tectona and :welcome to the poker forum mate. Dont worry about not being able to find old threads...they can be buried away deep in the archives but this one here... http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13975 Has a lot of good advice on live games. Once you have checked that thread out, I would phone around your local casinos and ask them when their tournaments are on...there should be a couple near you I would imagine. Oh and get into our next league game...they are indeed great fun! Jez

  3. Re: PL 2 - The Championship Continues (and league update!) Congrats to DubCee....the winner of game 2 season 2.... I had a terrible game, I got absolutely nothing for the first few blind levels - I think I raised with K10 once and won the blinds, that was it. Eventually with the big blind 150 I raised to 450 to go with Q10hearts in late position, I was reraised and seeing as I only had another 500 more I wasnt really going to throw it away - id rather gamble and try and get some chips than be blinded down too far. The reraiser had AK...a king flopped and that was it :o I think the heads up at the end lasted 1 hand exactly :lol....congrats to MrM and GotAFancy as well..... Jez

  4. Re: PL Poker League Season 2 Table + All Time Top PL Money Winners Hi MrM Yep how dave pointed out is how its done, you get points for entering and final tabling as well as placing in the money. To be blatantly honest, I ripped off teh scoring system totally from my local casinos league - they use that way of creating a league over an 8 month season. Jez

  5. Re: Next Poker League Game? I have only just back up north in the last few hours so have been unable to update the league yet, it will be done tomorrow before the game. Which I will be playing in of course! Jez

  6. Re: Cruise Final on Ladbrokes tomorrow Unlucky mate, At least you went out playing like a man and did not let yourself get anted away. I also have been in a final so far this year and not made it...keep trying it will be all the sweeter when we finally make it. You've got nothing to be ashamed of of the way you played, seems to me like you gave a perfect account of yourself in amongst all the pros. Jez

  7. Re: WSOP Update As for the other players.... It seems for once Matusow never exploded, infact he appears to have played perfect poker for the whole week. Very unlucky to be knocked out first...killer turn card. Black appeared to be playing very well, reading between the lines of the live updates I think he had some very strong tells on a couple of the other players. He called someone all in in a large pot holding nothing more than top pair 9 kicker, his opponent had middle pair but then outdrew him :o As it stands at this very second they are like this... 1. Joseph Hachem - $20,530,000 (seat 1) 2. Steve Dannenmann - $19,720,000 (seat 8) 3. Tex Barch - $11,300,000 (seat 3) 4. Aaron Kanter - $4,660,000 (seat 6) Anything can happen now...... Jez

  8. Re: WSOP Update :@ Bullshit, absolute total bullshit fcuking bad beat for daniel, JJ vs TT ffs :@ You see guys we all moan about our outdraws and everyone thinks they are the unluckiest most hard done to player on the planet. It's all a load of pish, we get annoyed over 100 dollars or even a cruise - imagine it for 7.5mil and a world champions bracelet. :o Never mind, he has done himself proud and become a millionaire in the progress - my hat is off to him, what an absolutely fantastic acheivemant he thoroughly deserved :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

  9. Re: WSOP Update Yeah he came 2nd in aruba 2003 that erick lindgren won....he played pretty well if I remember rightly and lindgren just caught every card going the whole final table (but to be fair to him he made the most of it!) I have seen him in some other things and would place him in the minor TV poker celeb class :lol Jez

  10. Re: Advise On Play Please... Hi Darlo, You did nothing wrong here mate. The problem is your position relative to the other players. Even with blinds this big if you had been last to act and seen something like a huge bet, a call, a raise all in and another call you could have safely mucked your top two knowing someone had KJ. However against the small blind you are definately going to play, and with such a draw heavy board and blinds this big you were correct to move in over the top - just a bit of a brutal cold deck :o Jez

  11. Re: WSOP Update All right guys. MrM - I met daniel and his girlfriend somewhere you are going to be next year - the ladbrokes cruise! Well to be more precise, we met in venice. Both of us were equally lost trying to navigate the crazy streets of venice with loads of luggage on our way to the port so we joined forces. Of course we arrived several hours early and all of us spent the rest of the time in the bar getting to know each other. Both him and his gf are great people. Daniel introduced me to this swedish thing called snus...its like tobacco but you put it in your mouth (not chewing...you just leave it on your lip) - weird + you cant get it over here - it gave me a strange light feeling then a headache after I totally overdid it despite daniels warnings :lol. After that we partied on the cruise together, discussing poker strategy (he was a pro like me back then as well, playing at about the same level (well before this anyway!)), playing hearts and getting drunk. I also taught him to play blackjack in the onboard casino :lol. Mia however kicked both our asses and won the incabin hearts tournament :o :o Since then we have kept in touch via MSN and looked out for each other in online games - the last tourney I can remember him being in a final in was a 50 dollar party poker one :lol. I chatted with him the week before he left for the main event. Although, like the internet sites are reporting ,he won his seat in a 33 dollar rebuy, he was lamenting to me how it had cost him 3k in attempts to get a seat at the main event. I told him not to worry, it would be worth it and I would be looking out for his name in the results as they came through - I never imagined anything like this tho! We had already agreed we were gonna get back on the laddies cruise again - I hope this time we have a WSOP main event champion on board! Pissing me off im on a different computer from my normal one at the moment, otherwise I would put a pic of the four of us on the cruise up but nevermind - soon he is too be famous worldwide :drums. Like I said before, Daniel and Mia (his gf) are definately two of the good people in this world, they are in their twenties like me and I hope what happens tonight sets them up for life - I've never personally known anyone in a final of this magnitutde before and I am worried - I cannot even begin to imagine what they are like! CMON DANIEL!!!!!! :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope :hope Martin

  12. Re: WSOP Update Cheers stereoman....that was indeed the final 10 although they actually kept playing until the final 9 for the "tv" final table...they only just this minute reached it when A10s cracked someones QQ on a flush/overcard draw. Daniel has made it, he has about 6mill in chips I think (not sure, no official counts available - at one point with 12 players left he went from 2mill to over 6 mill on the chip counts without a big hand being mentioned?? who knows). GET IN THERE!!!! Jez

  13. Re: WSOP Update Yeah...Daniel is doing superb, this is his chance to shine and I hope he fufills everything he his capable of. It is scary to think that daniel was basically at my level a few weeks ago but now he is sat at the same table as Phil Ivey in the WSOP and has a chance to become a millionaire overnight......he is a fully accomplished NL tourney player that is for sure and I have my :hope crossed he plays to the full ability I know he has in him....mind you he better not make a repeat visit to the blackjack tables like the last time I saw him :lol. Of course Ivey is rightfully favourite to win the whole thing, he is the best player left in, but 4/1 is so stupidly short it represents one of the worst bets I have seen in a long time. Matusow famously plays fantastic poker for almost all the tournaments he is in then stupidly spunks away massive leads at key times....he even says it himself "WHEN AM I GONNA BLOW UP GUYS?". It seems this time he has not done so so far but has kept the head, can it continue (some of his quotes on cardplayer are funny as fcuk as well)..... Anything can happen now lets just hope the cards go daniels way :hope COME ON!!!!!!

  14. Re: WSOP Update Yes Sky show the WSOP...challenge tv buy ESPNs coverage of it, but its not live, not even in america - we will probably get this about 9-10 months from now :( Daniel is in 15th....over a million chips.....COME ON MY SON :hope :hope

  15. Re: You make the call - POCKET ACES Parts 1 and 2! Well....onto the results. Hand 1 ------- I folded. So certain I was that the button was slowplaying I even typed "nh" in the chat box just as I folded. I did not have him on AJ I had him practically on pocket 5s! I realised with the small bets he might have stayed in with anything but I thought he would check at the end if this was the case or he had a small piece, only a very strong hand would liven up like that at the end. It is quite rare to fold aces but I really thought this was the time to do it. Anyway the chat box prompted him to show....and he turned over pocket 10s as he took the pot down :wall. He asked if I had AK (I can see his reasoning) but I decided to tell him the truth and admitted I had folded the winning hand. He said he had honestly thought he was winning and thought it was a value bet, not a bluff (with UTG still in here and an overcard on the river I am not so sure about this but I thought I had better repeat what he said...). Considering the hand afterwards I came to the conclusion that the massive majority of the time you see someone flat call several players like this on early streets and then liven up big style on the river they have been slowplaying and folding the aces would have been correct - however the defining factor this time was the tiny bets, nobody was really going to fold if they had anything for those bets and to sort out the slowplays he should have been put to the test a bit more. A bad read by me in this situation....I think at least one if not 2 mentioned pocket 10s so well done if you did (and you would all have won this pot that I lost just about!) Hand 2 ------- I called. The hand I was worried about of course was KQ. However hardly anyone would have played KQ like that against me in this spot. They almost certainly would have just flat called - personally if it was me with KQ there I would have raised but not moved AI. I had to consider he had 2 pair or a lower set, both of which I had crushed - I felt J10 was the most likely hand from him (and he was putting me on AK). Of course if the worst comes to the worst and he does have KQ I am behind but I still have a decent chance to outdraw him, add to this the tiny chance I think it is that he actually HAS the straight in the first place I called for all my money instantly. He turns over AJ and is drawing dead to runner runner jacks for four of a kind!. Sweet, took down an 800 dollar pot and to add to the humour he starts whining in the chat box "gee you flop two pair and that happens - always to me". Personally I would say if a tight player like me with a lot of money infront of him makes it 5 times the big blind to go UTG in a cash game you should generally fold AJ :lol. Also the very fact I led at the pot with a big bet after flopping top set (which most average players would have checked) enticed the big raise from him with the second best hand - a check from me there and livening up later might have alerted him to the strength of my hand and possibly not got him all in. Several of you read this opponent who rates himself highly correct - well done Congrats to everyone who got the reads right....These two examples illustrate to me what is the single most important thing to learn to do in no limit hold em and that is accurately put your opponent on a hand. When you can do this well you will find your results go through the roof - if you know what your opponents hold you cant lose! Jez

  16. Re: Cruise Final on Ladbrokes tomorrow Pish never really got going.... Had a beat beat earlyish on for a 5k pot (I had QJ he had Q2 flop QQ9 turn A river K arrghh) but never got above 3k. Ended up betting a shortstack all in when I had top pair but he had kings which held up. Finally I went all in with 44 and got called by A9 and A10 with the ace flopping...good night. Try again tomorrow tho :hope Jez
