  1. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 30-31 A very quiet set of mid-week non-league fixtures but given the dodgy weather for the weekend it might be our only chance for a bet this week. My Monday bets have been terrible this season but hopefully that might change tonight as I fancy Histon to Worcester. Usually Id be looking to back Worcester at home but they seem to be struggling for form in general since the turn of the year whereas Histon are in cracking form. Histon's manager thought they didnt deserve to beat Guiseley on Saturday but the Guiseley manager thought Histon were on top until a sub changed the game. Worcester's defence is their weak spot for me and Histon have the attackers to take full advantage. Given Worcester had a massive trek to Workington just 48 hours ago they may be a bit tired as well. BetVictor are 5/2 about an away win which is too big. East Thurrock have it in them to beat Hampton in the Trophy tomorrow night again BetVictor are best at 11/4. Hampton arent in great form whereas despite East Thurrock are flying despite their lose to Hornchurch on Saturday. Margate look a good bet in the Ryman Prem to beat Leatherhead at Sportingbet's 5/6. Leatherhead are struggling again whilst Margate are in cracking form and outplayed Carshalton on Saturday despite losing 2-1.

  2. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Jan 28

Cheers York for ruining a combo that would get me nearly 550 quid... I mean' date=' wtf, taking 2 goals from a side that's in a worse position than kettering atm, then equalizing in 2 mins, and playing for another 30 without a single goal...Yeah this league looks more and more driven by just a handfull of teams, its clearly beginning to be obvious that teams like cambridge, york, gateshead and kidderminister are intentionally avoiding top spots since it clearly serves them better to stay forever in this league than to advance...that or they aren't as serious/funded/financially capable as wrexam or luton.[/quote'] What a stupid post and clearly one born by the fact you have done your money. You obviously dont know the league very well. Darlo had a fairly strong side out and worth remembering that Fleetwood only beat them 1-0 last weekend. Ignore their off the field troubles and they have been performing with credit on it. York are known for slipping up in games they should win on paper theyve done it a few times this season. Also if you think Wrexham have got lots of money then Im sure Barton will put you right on that.
  3. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Jan 28 Had a little dabble on Kettering at 3/1 with bwin. Deservedly beat Gateshead on Tuesday and on that form they can beat Lincoln. Having seen the defending for the Wrexham goals last week they clearly can be pretty ropey at the back however it seems to be the better teams who punish them more than the weaker teams in the league. Im still not convinced by Lincoln and with that confidence boosting win behind them its hard to see why Kettering should be 3/1 for this.

  4. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 28 Gainsborough Trinity v Altrincham Two sides both trying to get into the play-off picture in the Blue Square North but I fancy the home team. Trinty’s home form has been superb this season as they have won ten and lost three. There is extenuating circumstances as well for them losing those three games as two of them featured a very inexperienced keeper who wasn’t up to the grade. The other loss was to Halifax who scored very late on after being outplayed. They have also beaten Stalybridge and Hyde at home in two of their last four home games which all points to them being in a confident mood. Altrincham have been very hit and miss away from home and to be fair it’s mainly been the later. On Tuesday night they went to Blyth Spartans and were very lucky to get a point thanks to a penalty deep into injury time. The loss of Jack Redshaw to Morecambe is a huge set-back and it seemed to affect their performance. Coral and Blue Square both go 6/5 and I think those odds should probably be the other way round. Histon v Guiseley There was a blow to Histon this week as they had to let captain Omar Riza go because they couldn’t afford him anymore. A couple of months back I would have said that was a massive blow and when I saw them lose to Uxbridge in the FA Trophy they did miss him. However I watched them a couple of weeks ago against Gloucester and although he played well there were others who impressed me more. Histon have been in good form since that Trophy defeat and it seems the young team are finding their stride after a tough start and they weren’t far away from getting at least a point at Gainsborough last Saturday. Guiseley will be tough opponents but some of their away performances of late have been disappointing. They have drawn at bottom side Eastwood, lost 4-1 to Bishop’s Stortford and drew on Tuesday night at Vauxhall Motors. They still hold hopes of catching leaders Hyde but I do think Histon have a better chance than the bookies have given them here and Stan James’ 5/2 is worth an interest. Solihull Moors v Hyde Speaking of Hyde they have hit a little sticky patch and have only won once in their last five matches, although that win was a crucial one over second place Stalybridge. They have drawn their last two games against Corby and Gloucester and really struggled to break down the latter in a 0-0 draw. That concerns me as they now travel to a Solihull side whose home form is superb. They have won five of their last seven at home and one of the others included a draw against Stalybridge. Some of Hyde’s away efforts have been disappointing this season as well and if they aren’t fully on their game here I can see a Moors victory. Again Stan James offer odds of 5/2 and that looks on the generous side. Workington v Worcester Last week I opposed Workington and backed Worcester but neither bet was successful. Worcester were hugely disappointing as they lost only their second league game at home this season on Saturday to Colwyn Bay and that means they have now lost four from four since the turn of the year. As I mentioned last week they aren’t as good away from home anyway and I think they could lose five on the bounce. I thought Workington’s upturn in form had come about because of a kind fixture list but they put in a solid performance against Bishop’s Stortford last week and were unfortunate not to come away with all three points. Workington’s home form is pretty solid as well and they hold the advantage here given the long trip Worcester have to make as well. BetVictor are best price at 11/8 and that is well worth taking.

  5. Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem, FA Vase Jan 28 AFC Hornchurch v East Thurrock United Bit of a sporting play this but East Thurrock are flying up the table at the moment and are worth backing at Paddy Power’s 7/2 to beat AFC. United have not lost a league or cup game since Kingstonian beat them on December 3rd. That is 12 games and they have won 10 of them. The two games they have drawn were against Blue Square South side Hampton & Richmond in the FA Trophy and Carshalton last Saturday in the league. The report I read of that game though suggested East Thurrock completely dominated and should have won. Travelling to second place AFC Hornchurch is a tricky game but one that is within their capabilities to win and the price is bigger than it should be. Carashalton v Margate Final bet of the week is following last week’s selection and other in-form team in the Ryman Premier Margate. Granted I thought Lewes were there for the taking last week but to win 5-1 was impressive and with Kwesi Appiah capable of scoring against anyone in the league I reckon they can win their sixth game on the bounce. The home side should be doing much better than they are but have not won in the league for seven games now and have only picked up three points in that time. As I mention above they were lucky to get away with a point at East Thurrock last Saturday and they are really struggling for form in the league. I would imagine the FA Trophy game next Saturday against Newport will cause a bit of a distraction as well and bet365 have an away win priced up at 11/8.

  6. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Jan 28 Think I might miss out on the BSP again this weekend (unless Kettering are a backable price). Tempted by Southport as Hayes arent a good side but will leave them after Tuesday. Kiddie also tempted me but bar that win at York just before Christmas their away form hasnt been that strong of late, also I think Stockport are showing signs of life especially at home and it just offers enough of a question mark for me.

  7. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 23-25

Lol...not so much knowledge. I just vowed to keep track of things as the season progressed so I could detect trends and so forth. I bow down to everyone's far more impressive football knowledge here.
Its imprssive that you keep a track of things like that though. Sadly I ended up needing one more goal. I feel really sorry for Bath as they dont seem to have much luck at the moment and the sending off sounds harsh. Cranham then threw the ball at the ref and he got sent off to. I sort of agree with the thoughts on Southport on here but they werent that bad against Cambridge and the score line was harsh in the end and given how poor Lincoln seemed I thought they should win. Clearly I was wrong. Fair play to Kettering on getting a win tonight as well.
  8. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 23-25

I know this is off your topic (and irrelevant to the Tamsworth game besides), but interestingly, the Tuesday night goal-fest hasn't extended to the games featuring massive favorites. Games involving dogs of 6.0 or better on Tuesdays this season have gone 6 over, 8 under 2.5 (4 over, 10 under 3.5). A lot of people expect goals in these mismatches, and the totals rise with the side, meaning most of these games are set at O3. You can blame mostly York (3 unders, 1 over) and Luton (3 unders) for the Tuesday power outage. Games with dogs of better than 6.0 are high-scoring in Conference this season when it's not a Tuesday: 18 overs, 5 unders.
I bow down to your impressive stat knowledge.
  9. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 23-25 A couple of small bets for me tonight. I like Ebbsfleet at 6/5 against Tamworth. Tamworth have not won in the league since November now and they continue their what seems to be seasonal drop down the table after a good start. Theyve been leaky in defence and Ebbsfleet have the attacking capabilities to punish them tonight. Interestingly Tamworth have been getting on the score sheet themselves and Sportingbets offer of 9/5 on their being over 3.5 goals looks tempting as well. Worth remembering as well that Tuesday nights in the BSP this season have been goal crazy. I am also backing Southport at 8/5 with BetVictor against Lincoln. Im not reading too much into Lincoln coming back from 3-1 down to get a draw against Gateshead on Saturday as Gateshead were heading to a comfortable win before a sending off for each side changed the game and Gateshead's defence lost the plot. Theyve been poor of late and I expect a Southport win. Southport have only won once in their last six but theyve had a tough set of fixtures and this is their easiest game for a while and after a good draw against Luton on Saturday I think they can add to their great away form here.

  10. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 23-25

What about Hayes? Darlington is almost bankrupted and many players left the team. Hayes is one of the worst teams in BSP but 3 points here would be great because they fight against relegation. Many bookies removed this match but locals still offer 2' date='20-2,30 on home win.[/quote'] I was hoping that Hayes would be long odds on for this game and I would probably have backed Darlo against them. Now I will leave the game alone. Darlo played well on Saturday and that might have been helped by the large crowd and the fact that they were playing the game at all. If Darlo are going to see out the season they will have to try and stay up as well and therefore getting something out of this game is important. Worth remembering as well that bar a 3-0 defeat at Barrow they arent doing that badly on the pitch and Colin Liddle is doing a fantastic job. As for Hayes they nearly got something out of the game at Mansfield on Saturday but I think that says more about Mansfield at home than it does Hayes. Hayes havent won for ages now and I wouldnt want to go rushing in to backing them here.

And 4/1 on AMS proved to be good value. Tyler was MOM as he made some good stops. Nothing exceptional but he was off his line quickly a lot to seize any danger. Have to say I've been impressed with Hinckley over the two matches. Andre Gray looks a real player up front for them and with a bit more composure over the two matches it could have been them going through and not us. Perfect exercise for us though and fine tuned those who needed fine tuning ahead of Wednesday which bodes well.
Hinckley are a strange side Kev. They clearly are capable of pulling of decent results but in general they seem to be poor and could easily go down if there are three to be relegated from the BSN.

5.00 SHAWS DIAMOND - 0.5 pt ew @ 18/1 Victor Chandler APPLE BLOSSOM TIME - 0.25 pt ew @ 18/1 Victor Chandler Shaws Diamond comes into this handicap off 54 and is without a win since July 2009. However, he has 5 places from 11 starts at Wolves and has been shaping as if he's returning to form recently. A 2nd at Wolves 4 starts back was the first sign, and that was followed up with 2 good runs at Yarmouth and Kempton. Dissapointed last time out over the mile, but has been given a break since and the booking of Dale Swift is a positive. Apple Blossom Time is very interesting coming over from Ireland for Derek Haydn Jones. His runs in Ireland were in much hotter races than this contest, and they always have to be considered when they come across.
I have a small share in Shaws Diamond and I can tell you the reason why she had a break was that she picked up a small injury in her last race which is why she disappointed. Shes in good form and had a racecourse gallop last week at Southwell. Trainer is slightly concerned that its her first run back and she may need it but otherwise he expects her to go very close. I thought she would be single figures so at 18/1 it is worth a small bet as it factors in the fact she may need it for me. I thought Deslaya was the main danger and worth a bet as well in what is a shockingly bad race.
  13. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 23-25

Brabin has confirmed AMS will play tonight. He also says the side will be 'similar' to the one which played up there.
Seems a bit odd that he might play players tonight who will be on the bench on Wednesday. Still think the price is to big on Hinckley although the Luton team looks like it will be stronger than I had hoped.
  14. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 23-25

Nice selection Banjo. Wrexham are doing amazingly well this season and I am sure they earned a good amount of cash to those who back them consistently. Somehow I still have this feeling (or pre-season misconception) that at some point they will slip and Fleetwood will win this league. Let's see what happens. Anyway i took Bath DNB to beat Alfreton @ 1.75 Most of my reasoning is above and I will also add that I took this bet a bit late as initially VC priced DNB at 1.95 which was massive value and despite what Addpea is saying initially Alfreton were the favourites but I think bookies got their heads around this fixture and fixed things before I took it. Anyway, 1.75 on DNB is still good value considering that Bath are able to beat relegation candidates and Alfreton won only one away fixture.
When Ships started this thread the price on Bath was 6/5 that was on Saturday night. Thus Bath were favs at the start. Maybe one or two bookies had Alfreton as favs but as far as I can tell Bath have always been the shorter price of the two teams on the best prices you could back the two teams at.
