  1. Re: Tennis betting Q's Fairly straightforward once you get the hang of it. Basically for the 1st bet, Haas starts with a +1.5 set headstart. If he loses in straight sets 3-0 (I'm assuming this is for the French Open where it's three sets to win), then the bet will be a loser as the handicap score will be 3-1.5. If Haas was to lose in the 5th set though ie. 3-2 on sets. Then the bet would be a winner as the score including the handicap would read 3-3.5 in Haas' favour. The same thing applies to number of games in a match. That bet would mean Mardy Fish starts with a -5.5 game disadvantage, so he would have to win 6 more games than Mello for the bet to be settled a winner. If the final score read 7-6 6-4 6-4 to Fish then the bet would be a loser as Fish has only won by five games in total (19 games to Fish, 14 to Mello). If however it went 6-3 6-3 6-2, then it would be a comfortable winner as Fish has then won eight more games than Mello and would cover the -5.5 disadvantage. # The games handicap is usually preferred as it doesn't take into account the number of sets in a match. Sometimes a lesser known opponent can take a few sets off a better player in say a few tie-breaks for example but still lose the match comfortably on games. Todays match between Rafael Nadal and John Isner being a prime example. That match today went 6-4 6-7 6-7 6-2 6-4 to Nadal. Even though it went to five sets, Nadal still covered a -5.5 game handicap in the match as he won a few sets by a decent margin. I tried to explain that as best as I could. Hope it helps :ok

  2. Re: Golf: European Tour 2011 - World Matchplay

1pt ew I.Poulter to win Volvo World Matchplay 16/1 Betfred (1/4 1-4) Normally I have a select few players who I always look at in an outright market when matchplay comes along and Ian Poulter is definitely one of those. We've all seen what the Ryder Cup does for him and how he thrives on the format in that event and we shouldn't forget he won the Accenture Matchplay in Tucson last year and won it very well too beating another accomplished match player in Paul Casey in the final. It's fair to say Poulter's game hasn't been to the standard he'd like it this season but there's nothing like the one on one competitive matchplay to bring out his best golf. I don't think he's been too far off anyway. A lucky bounce here or there and he would be going nicely. I feel his game is on the edge of delivering something good. He has all the ingredients of being a good matchplay golfer - hits it straight, competes hard and holes clutch putts. Very few will relish the format like he will this week. He can't really have asked for a much better draw either. Take out Westwood, who has never convinced me away from the Ryder Cup that he enjoys matchplay, and maybe McIlroy and there's nothing to beat him in the top half of the draw. 16/1 isn't a lot shorter than he was when he won the US version of the matchplay and in a weaker field here I think it represents good value.
I saw this but didn't fancy it for some reason. Got on Donald instead so wasn't too bad in the end. Top shout :clap
  3. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Now that I've calmed down I was looking at the prices on teams outright. Bangalore are a best price of 7/4 whilst Chennai are best at 2/1. Mumbai find themselves at 4/1 with Kolkata now out to 15/2. In terms of value, I don't think there is too much flying around. To be truthfully honest, I think Chennai will win the thing. As much as I want KKR to win, I think three straight wins is a bit beyond them. I agree with Lahrio in the sense that so much pins on Gayle with Bangalore so getting on them, especially at that price is abit dodgy. Mumbai, like KKR need 3 straight wins to win the thing outright but for some reason, I see them doing that more than I do Kolkata. What do you all think?

  4. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 I was watching delayed having recorded the match. Actually don't believe it. Fxcks the outright completely too you're right. They're going to go the Wankhede to play Mumbai again completely deflated whilst Mumbai are going to be the complete opposite. If they beat them, then they have to come through Chennai or Bangalore before winning the final also. Unbelievable :sad

  5. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Yeah mate I was quite surprised to see WillHill offer 2.38. They've now cut them to 2.25 which is also what they are generally across most bookies. With Bangalore winning this game pretty convincingly too it looks good for KKR to finish in the Top 2 should they beat Mumbai. Should be a cracker.

  6. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Stuttering progress. -6.00 for the day. Completely avoiding the first game between RCB and CSK. Both teams are assured of qualification, there's rain about and alot of this match pins on Gayle. I am not willing to chance anything there. Going in with two more orthadox picks for the second game in what is a must win game for both parties: - 4pts Kolkata Knight Riders (vs. Mumbai Indians) @ 11/8 [WillHill] At one point in this tournament, it looked like Mumbai were going to walk this IPL as they were literally obliterating anyone who came in their path. Their top order were firing, Tendulkar held the Orange Cap for an age and Malinga was destroying every stump in sight. Those days are long gone though and the air of invincibility they were slowly building has all but abated. Their bowling is still pretty watertight which they can take as a big positive. It's just that their batting line-up (which features ridiculous amount of talent) has just gone to shit. Their last three innings read sorry scores of 133, 125 and 87 which has consequently lead to three straight defeats. I don't think coming to Eden Gardens (which is a notoriously difficult track to bat on) against a well-balanced Kolkata side is what they need right now ESPECIALLY after they produced a brilliant bowling performance last time out against the Warriors. Mumbai haven't found a solid opening partnership yet and Tendulkar bats way too slowly. I think getting Gambhir opening with Kallis is a perfect move for KKR. Tiwary and Yusuf should get more time at the crease as a result and the handy all-rounders of Shakib and Tendo are more than capable of causing damage late on. I think the Mumbai guys are in for a tough one tomorrow and I am going with my outright pick KKR for the win at a good price. If Mumbai bat first too I will also be looking to hit any kind of unders on their innings score. If the market opens up at anything like 140.5, unders would be a good way to go. Obviously we shall see what happens at the toss tomorrow. - 4pts Total Sixes: Under 8.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] Tough track to bat on. Stuttering batting form from Mumbai and a conservative side in Kolkata just screams unders to me. If you excuse the one time Gayle went crazy here, this ground has never seen 9 sixes. The 1st Innings scores here this season read, 114, 119, 171, 131, 162, 83. The two high scores you see there have been from KKR themselves which mean the rest (all pretty modest totals) have all been from the away side. KKR know how to bowl here and when they get it right, they're untouchable. In the scores of 171 and 162, four and three sixes were scored respectively. They're just not a team conclusive to six hitting and this is not a ground conclusive to that either. Yes we have the players here that can do it but we also having top bowling sides too and if you weigh everything up, unders is where the smart money will go. So I'll play.

  7. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Deccan proved once again that they're bowling unit was a very strong one and also proved why I opposed them for so long in the sixes. How many other teams will score 198 but only hit four sixes in one of the smallest grounds in India ffs. Will be back after this Degale fight for tomorrows epic double header.

  8. Re: Cricket: West Indies vs Pakistan - Test Series Azhar Ali is second in the series leaderboards right now so fingers crossed he has a good last innings and Umar fails. Some nice sixes from Ravi at the end of Day 2 means he only requires 15pts to take this one with the whole Pakistan 2nd innings to come and the rest of his current innings.

  9. Re: Cricket: County Championship 2011

WIN - 5pts Lancashire (vs. Yorkshire) @ 8/11 [sportingbet] WIN - 3pts Sussex DNB (vs. Somerset) @ EVS [Coral]
Somehow Lancs managed to pull off a win today after bowling out Yorkshire and chasing 121 in 14 overs. Sussex eased to victory too meaning a nice profit of +6.60 from this round of fixtures. Some nice wins for you Kev and draws elsewhere so not a bad week in here at all.
  10. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 I think there is mileage in Pune to beat Deccan tomorrow at 19/20 but I'll pass on that one to be safe. Going with two: - 4pts Total Pune Sixes: Over 4.5 @ 5/6 [Ladbrokes] Pune don't fail on the sixes too often. Yes they flopped last time out but as I mentioned in that match, I've never seen Kolkata bowl like that before. Delhi Daredevils don't have the quality in their line up that Kolkata possess so I think we can dismiss that as a minor blip. Ryder, Uthappa, Yuvraj, Pandey and Ganguly can clear most boundaries in the world more often than not so against a Delhi side without a potent bowler in their ranks, I think they can do it. Delhi Darevils have conceded at least four sixes in each of their last four matches too which bodes well for this. Pune hit maximums when batting first as well as chasing so I will play that they hit five tomorrow. - 3pts Player Performance: Robin Uthappa 31&Over 5/6 [WillHill] Been a fan of Uthappa for a long time now and I think this is on the generous side from Bet365. 31 points for a Top4 batsman and a wicket-keeper is easily within reach for Uthappa. In each of Pune's last 6 games, he has either taken a catch or got himself a stumping. Or both! With two pacemen opening the bowling a catch/edge is always on the cards. Likewise with at least 8 overs of spin on offer, a stumping is close too. Despite that though 31 is capable with the wand. If Pune finally see sense and leave Callum Ferguson on the bench, Uthappa will be in at #3 which is more than enough time for him to get these runs. His form with the willow has been patchy lately but he has too much quality to be away from a big innings soon.

  11. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 -20.79 for the tournament. One good day would turn everything around. * utters a small prayer for tomorrow to be that day * One for the first match. - 6pts Total Sixes: Over 11.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] Tomorrows match is going to be played at Dharamasala which is just happens to be one of the smallest stadiums in the whole of India. There have been two matches here so far and they have amassed 31 DLF's off the willow. They were recent too. Two games ago, 170 played 141 and there were still 12. I haven't even mentioned the way the ball was flying off Adam Gilchrist's bat a few days ago as he finally found his range. The Royal Challengers only hit 121, losing wickets at regular intervals and they hit 4 with even guys at #10 clearing the ropes. There are some semi big-hitters in each side too, especially with Kings. Gilchrist, Valthaty, Marsh, Hussey, Sohal, Dhawan are all capable of ensuring this comes in. Deccan have been very good at strangling opponents with their bowling recently which is a worry but despite this I think there are good opportunities for big hitting tomorrow with a plethora of spinners and medium pacers. One-bounce fours turn into maximums here so I'm glad to be on overs for tomorrows opener.

  12. Re: Cricket: West Indies vs Pakistan - Test Series Managed to catch one before them before they went offline and will play with one for the 2nd Test. Hafeez amalgamated a measly 6 runs from two innings in the 1st Test so I am looking to my main man Ravi to pull that back up. - 6pts Player Performance: Ravi Rampaul 90&Over @ 5/6 [bet365] I've been impressed with Rampaul ever since the latter stages of the World Cup. He's been in and out of this West Indies side for the last five years but he's finally looking like the player the WICB first saw when they picked him years ago. He took an impressive 7/75 in the 1st Test match and scored a gritty 16 runs along the way with him, Devendra Bishoo and Kemar Roach forming vital partnerships towards at the end of the 1st Innings. He bowls some top lines and lengths and despite him being a tad on the fat side. The pitch here is expected to largely favour the West Indies seam attack after Saeed Ajmal single handedly merked all of their batsmen last time out. That can only work in Rampaul's favour and with cloud clover forecasted on each of the five days, I think 5 match wicket's is well within reach. If rain comes into play then the above rules apply but I think Ravi has what it takes to see this off amid any disruptions.

  13. Re: Cricket: County Championship 2011 Sussex annoyed me a little, I was a little excited when they strangled Somerset to 213 after being something like 115/1. Lancashire look good though, they shouldn't lose from here. Don't think you'll be sending Graham Napier a Christmas Card this year though :loon :loon Ridiculous innings.

  14. Re: Premier League Darts: Playoffs Top quality darts from those two matches there with both underdogs prevailing in my eyes. Taken two in the interim. Taylor -3.5 @ 5/6 and Lewis @ 11/10. Reasoning is pretty much self explanatory. I don't envisage Barney to bounce back from a fifth straight Premier League semi-final defeat to cause Taylor two many problems with about 15minutes rest. Likewise, Lewis was throwing magical darts earlier. Anderson can't hit doubles to save his life and with the form Adrian was in earlier, he'll be punished for the misses more often than not. Taken with moderate stakes at Boyles.

  15. Re: 2011 Boxing Thread Was hilarious. Bellew was chatting copious amounts of shit at Cleverly. He then went on to start swearing live on SkySports and they almost had it out right there over the table. Degale being the pompous arrogrant prick he is then went on to offer a winner takes all deal to Groves which Groves accepted. He basically said if he lost, he would give up his payday to Groves! So as it stands, if Degale wins, he'll take all of Groves agreed fight money and effectively leave Groves without a dime. Wheras on the flipside now, if Groves wins he doubles his purse to an estimated £400,000. It was probably all staged beforehand but it was quite funny to watch. Definitely try and catch it on the hour on SSN.

  16. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Today went pretty much as planned so +5.00 for the day. -16.79 for the tournament. - 4pts Sixes Matchbet: Pune Warriors @ 11/8 [boyles] This price is just ridiculous. I've said it before in this thread that I think Pune are probably the most reliable team when it comes to hitting sixes and to have them at this price against probably the worst team to hit them means it just must be taken. First and foremost, the ground here in Mumbai is easily clearable. There have been at least 10 sixes here in every one of the last five to be played on this ground. Kolkata on the other hand are just not really firing in the DLF department this year. I did some digging and I have found that in their 12 matches so far, they've only scored 33 sixes in total. Simple maths tells you that that's not that many per game; 2.75 to be exact. When you put that into perspective, Chris Gayle has hit 32 alone since he joined Bangalore! Manoj Tiwary and Yusuf Pathan have hit 23 of those 33 meaning the rest have only contributed 10 maximums in 12 games. That's just trash. Compare that with Pune now and you have a side who have hit a total number of 59 sixes so far at just under 5 per game on average. Jesse Ryder, Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Yuvraj Singh are four NATURAL hitters of the ball. There is not a single boundary in the world that is long enough for any of them and if one of them come off tomorrow this is all wrapped up. Add Ganguly to the mix and well it only make things better. The problem is with Pune that they often suffer from HORRIBLE batting collapses. They've been four wickets down at fifty runs several times this tournament which is a worry. Having said that though, they still pack DLF potential in low-scoring innings at this ground. Last match out against Deccan, they only scored 136, yet hit seven sixes here. Mumbai strangled them to 139, yet they scored seven again. Six came when they scored 141 against Delhi. They're strong at home with the sixes and I think when you factor in all the above and their opponents, they should not be this price to win this. Kolkata have never hit seven sixes in any of their twelve innings so far AND they haven't played in over a week. There is always the threat of Yusuf going bonkers but I'll chance my arm here and play that Pune deliver again and the generosity that Boyles have offered here pays off.

  17. Re: Premier League Darts: Playoffs For the first time in a long time I'm actually going to sit out of Premier League Darts betting. I have blacklisted Adrian Lewis ever since he drew with Terry Jenkins two months ago. Despite me thinking Taylor is going to wipe the floor with him tomorrow, I can't even think about getting on him to win at 1.17. Likewise the handicap, generally set at -3.5 scares me a little. In the 2nd game, I initially thought Overs on the 180's and was surprised to see the 7.5 line offered at EVS in places but my mind was cast back to last week where Adrian Lewis faced Anderson in a match I thought was certified Overs and there were only 5. I sense a nervy encounter tomorrow and thus limited maximums . Wise thing to do will be to just watch and enjoy this week as I really can see anything happening. No bet for me this week. Good luck to all involved.

  18. Re: Cricket: County Championship 2011 Going in with two in Division 1 for this round of matches. - 5pts Lancashire (vs. Yorkshire) @ 8/11 [sportingbet] Fancy Lancashire to win this one this week. They've been pretty impressive so far this season having gone four matches unbeaten, including three wins and welcome back James Anderson in their side this week at Liverpool. Yorkshire have been unconvincing so far and they have some key absentees to their side. Bresnan tore a calf muscle and will be out for some time, whilst Shahzad and Johnny Bairstow are away with the England Lions. On top of Anderson returning, Farveez Maharoof is back with the home side here and I really do fancy them to continue their strong presence in this division with the bulk of their side playing well. I don't know how a stuttering Yorkshire will fare without some key members of their squad. I'll play that Lancs do a job on them here. - 3pts Sussex DNB (vs. Somerset) @ EVS [Coral] Some may say I am mad going against a good Somerset side but I can't help look through this Sussex side and think that they're more than adept of running them close. One look at their record this season and you'll disagree but they efficiently despatched Notts last time out with all of their bowlers stepping up with the ball; Monty Panesar in particular. Theres enough quality in Ed Joyce, Chris Nash, Murray Goodwin, Luke Wells, Michael Yardy and Matt Prior to cause most bowling attacks problems too. Luke Wright will be missing this one out but so too will be Somerset's James Hildreth. They ominously hit 610 in their last match at Durham however after enforcing the follow-on, the Somerset bowling attack wilted and could only take 6 wickets in 151 overs of play. Somerset are a strong side but I think Sussex have what it takes to give them a game. Have some draw cover on my side too incase of another mammoth innings.

  19. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Been quiet for a few days but I fancy one ahead of Chennai's home match with Kochi tomorrow. - 6pts Total Sixes: Over 7.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] I saw this line and thought this was a touch low. Definitely feel that eight sixes is achievable tomorrow with some decent hitters of the ball on show in a stadium that has been a decent track to bat on so far. Vijay, Raina, Badrinath, Dhoni and Albie Morkel are all prevelant hitters of the white cherry for this Chennai side. Brendan Mcculum likewise is a mammoth hitter as we all know. He's been pissing me off lately though, he's been doing some Usain Bolt shit down the track to some 145kmph bowlers in recent games and has been getting out way too early making him look like a complete twat in the process. In the absence of Jayawardene, he should step his game up and stay in for 10 overs. If he does that then this will look good. If he doesn't though, Kochi still pack DLF potential in Patel, Hodge, Jadeja and Owais Shah so I will play on overs here. Barring a complete 1st innings collapse, then this should be all good; especially if Chennai bat first.

  20. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2011 Jesus Christ I thought I had a chance when Kochi needed only 97 to win and I had 7 sixes to play with. Of course though today was the 2nd time in two weeks a big-hitter has got out on a no-ball and gone on to fxck me over when being on unders. Annoying.
