  1. Re: IWGTBT1 2.5 goals 100 pt bank Got to agree big time with Dzordz there (newcastle chelsea), I'm looking at predicting Under 2.5 rather than over, and this was one game I picked out. I might sound like a bit of a dick 'after eventing' on your thread but it's just a bit of constructive critisism - do not bet over on chelsea, especially away from home. Also you might want to have a look at the champions league?

  2. Re: What do you think of this strategy ? snyena, I think you may have slightly misunderstood xavs point. I think xav is suggesting looking for bets where one bookies odds vary greatly from the norm. e.g. if 10 bookies had Arsenal at 1.1 to win their next game, and 1 bookie had them at 1.9 it might be worth taking the 1.9 on the basis that 10 bookies probably aren't wrong. I've read about similar systems, also ones where the odds differ hugely from ladbrokes as they are percieved to have the most accurate odds (don't know if this is true). I'd say have a crack on paper and over time you could refine the system to take account of some bookies being better than others:beer2

  3. Faroes Beware! As a rule I think betting on 'minnows' to get hammered by 4 or 5 is a terrible strategy for international football. Faroes are rubbish, but they know they're rubbish. A half decent coach and 11 semi/professional footballers willing to frustrate the opposition for 90 mins is not as easy to roll over as you might think

  4. Germany - Brazil 8/9/04 Friendly Can't remember where I saw it, but I don't think Ronaldo is playing. Also, I'm not entirely convinced that Brazil give a sh*t about this game. Managers always come out and say the right things before a game, but he'd hardly come on TV and say 'we're not rate bothered about this one' would he? what you can be sure of is a proffessional performance from the Germans, and that could be enough for a draw. 2.5 for Brazil looks tempting but it's a no bet for me. Good luck lads, hope you prove me wrong

  5. Re: WCQ Well my idea of laying every favourite at 2.00 or under returned a profit :D my exposure for all the bets was about 19.85, and my profit (after commission) was 4.37. this would have been much higher (about 12 -13 i think), if I hadn't included two costly selections i.e. portugal and poland who were slightly over 2.00. Might give it another go midweek if the odds look right

  6. WCQ Sorry to 'dumb down' the discussion lads, but with the lack of a full english league programme, I've had a bit of a fun bet for this weekend. Basically, I'm not shocked by any result in international football thesedays, but there still seems to be only very short prices available on favourites, this seems strange to me. So, with this in mind I've layed every favourite (on betfair) with odds of around 2.00 or under. I've laid them to equal stakes i.e. I stand to win 2 quid for each correct result, but my liability varies with the individual odds. Like I say, I'm just treating this as a bit of fun, unless I come out on top in which case it was deadly serious :lol Anyway, I'll let you know the outcome after the weekend

  7. usain bolt a quick glance at the bbc results page would suggest mr Bolt has let me down, sorry if I threw anyone a bent spoon there. Stereoman, due to lack of internet access, I didn't get any money on holm. I've got Dwight Phillips in the LJ and that russian lass (current WR holder) in the PV for me to break even. Look on the brightside though, we could have backed Radcliffe in the marathon!

  8. usain bolt I have the same fears about Olsson as you have about Holm, The triple jumps is such a 'technique' based event that an outsider could just nail one of their jumps and walk away with the gold. I know olssons record is exceptional this season, but that Lister guy knocked out about 17.80 in the US trials! and Olsson got beat by Opera t'other week in Stockholm. I'd prefer to back favourites in events where there is a bit more margin for error

  9. usain bolt My man Bolt has steamed down to 7/1 at Ladbrokes and Paddy Power but you can still get 12-13/1 at Betfair. IMO the only three who can beat him are Crawford, Gatlin and Powell and they all have just 1 day to recover from the 100 final before the 200 heats. He's run faster than Gatlin and Powell anyway this year (is Powell even running the 200??), so I reckon Betfair is still offering great value. On a slightly differnent note, Holm is about 2.3 to win the High Jump. Any thoughts on this?

  10. Re: Konstadinos Kederis It's a fair point stereoman, Kederis could be a danger. I might be wrong here but the quickest time I could find for Kederis this year is 20.33! That won't get a bronze, but i see what your saying, he has run quicker before. I think this is the most open of all the mens track events, with any one of four or five athletes able to win it. However, you get get Bolt at 17.5 (that might have gone down actually) or Kederis at 3.5!? Also, the immense pressure that Kederis is under to do well could be in Bolts favour. Anyway, lets wait and see :D

  11. Re: usain bolt Done a bit of looking and I'll answer my own question, yes he is! This is good news as you can get him at 17.5 at betfair! If you don't know who this guy is, he's a 17 year old jamaican who has blown away every junior record going in the 200m He's also run the quickest time of the year. 'On a chilly Easter Sunday afternoon Bolt smashed that jointly held record by .20 of a second, finishing in 19.93, which was also the fastest time in the world this year. The wind reading was 1.4 metres per second.' - IAAF Most major bookies have him about 10, and I think this refects the fact that he's been injured, but he's very recently passed a fitness test and is in the team for Athens. 17.5 looks a steal to me! :clap

  12. The Olympics ok how do you like this, The mens 400 is between wariner and francique isn't it? back em both at betfair for a profit of 50% Also thinking of laying El Gerrouj (no carry on style jokes please), i think his days of domination are over. finally, maybe that oriental fella could upset hot favourite Allen Johnson in the 110 hurdles (not so sure on this one though)

  13. The Olympics Just had a look at Collins, has a seasons best of 10.21 That will be nowhere near quick enough. Darren Campbell has certainly matched that this year (in the same race) and he is 100/1 at ladbrokes! Also Collins' PB is only 9.98, Similar to Mark Lewis Francis who's also 100/1 I fear the Yanks may clean up this year
