  1. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Right had a closer look and these will be my first few, straight wins as I don't think the handicaps are out yet :@ 1) Pe'er to beat Ivanovic 4/6 Ladbrokes 10/10 Already explained in a previous post, Ivanovic isn't the player she once was and has had injury problems. Although many actually fancy Ivanovic to rekindle some form here, don't see it happening in a million years myself (famous last words) so Pe'er to win. Wouldn't mind if she won 6-4 6-4 though, just good to watch Ivanovic in action :tongue2 2) Wawrinka to beat Istomin 4/9 Ladbrokes 10/10 Wawrinka is one of my favourite players to watch really, enhanced by his great show last year against that epic match against Murray which he really should have finished off. Although he thinks his best surface is clay and this is what he favours, he isn't a bad grass player either. His epic backhand is formiddable as Murray found last year and he should have too much here, providing he gets into his stride. 3) Almagro to beat Seppi 10/11 Ladbrokes 10/10 Bookies misplaced this price on Almagro I think. Showed he is certainly no pushover at Roland Garros and can hold his own with the big boys, breaking Nadal in the very first game there. Again prefers clay but he is good enough to come through this won, possibly in 4 sets I reckon but hopefully 3. Seppi is Seppi really. Never gone past round 3 at Wimbledon nor in any of the big 4 tournaments. Almagro is just a class above him and for this price, has to be taken. 4) Mayer to beat Cilic 5/1- Ladbrokes- 1/10 Wanted an outsider in round one and this perhaps is the one, well at the price is worth a shot. Mayer not a bad player, Cilic all about his serve, if he doesn't get this right on the day, could be fatal so Mayer may be worth a punt. Small stakes though GL all, waiting to see the rest's tips :ok
Not a bad day at all on the whole, only wawrinka that let me down. :wall
  2. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Right i've had a look at the handicaps now and the overs/unders and plucked out another 2. Roddick match under 30.5 games- 5/6-Ladbrokes- 10/10 Extremely suprised at the odds at this under. Finalist last year where he had chances against Federer but this is a different match with a different class opponent to Federer suprisingly enough. Expect Roddick to win straight sets really so if that happens this is likely to be achieved. Going for this over the handicap to Roddick, almost same odds and this to me is the safer option although both should still happen. 2) Fish match under 36.5 games- 5/6-Ladbrokes- 10/10 Another great value one again here. Fish in the warm up competition to Wimbledon lost in the final in a match he was backed to win really after beating Murray. Semi finalist last year in London and could have another good run again in 2010. Under 36.5 is extremely generous at this price against a 19 year old who plays in his first ever 1st round match at wimbledon. Expect Fish to show him whos boss, even if it goes to four, should still be all good. :ok
First 2 through safe and sound :beer

  5. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Alright guys before I start gl everyone for the greatest tennis tournament in the world, hopefully everyone can make a sterdy profit. Had a look at the draw and picked out one straight away. Will have a closer look later. A.Ivanovic v Shahar Peer- Peer to win 4/6 Ladbrokes Stood out like a sore thumb to me. Ivanovic has had perhaps the toughest year of her tennis career with all the injuries she has had. Also bet against her against Kleybanova in Roland Garros where she was done in straight sets, 6-0 in the second. I was thinking perhaps this was the tournament she got back on the road but with this draw I really can't see it happening. Pe'er I really like as a player, she's young and fears nobody. She also had personal problems at the start of the year with regards to her VISA and she is under orders to not associate herself with the other players backstage, even uses a different gym :(. But nevertheless she is a class act and believe she could go further than her best at Wimbledon which is the 4th round 2 years ago. In most tournaments she is extremely unlucky with her draws, getting beaten by the eventual winner most times than not. She's only played Ivanovic once and that was when Ivanovic was flying, seeded one yet she beat her. Really fancy her tomorrow and could possibly take the win and a straight sets win :eek

  6. Re: Tennis - French Open Right here are my last few tips, and also they are my last bets before i do my A level exams so hoping i can go out on a high with these 3 :hope 1) Soderling to win- 10/10- 3/1 As everyone has noted, soderling is clearly dangerous to rafa due to his agressive game and massive serve. There is a good chance of rain today, perhaps towards the end of the 2nd set, and if that happens Soderling would suit the conditions perfectly, unlike nadal. Soderling will have the power to get on top of the ball with his top spin and for me, nadal wont have an answer to it. Nadal recently said he's enjoying playing in the sun and the heat, so any other conditions he will struggle i reckon. Saw glimpses of Nadal's more vulnerable side at the end of the third set against melzer where he eventually won in straight sets. Odds are so good for soderling today, definitely worth some money. 2) Total aces over 14.5- 5/10- 4/5 Ladbrokes Another one i will take on today. Obviously most of these will come from Soderling and perhaps a few from Nadal but i feel this can be achieved. Soderling usually gets close or above this on his own, take for example Federer match. Especailly is nadal struggles to keep up with soderling, could be an ace fest in the match. Speed of fastest valid serve over 224.5- 10/10- 5.6 Ladbrokes Again will come through soderling and in this type of match where he will be sure to give it his all, am confident he will do this. He failed to reach this mark against Berdych but against Federer he achieve it on more than one occassion and due to it being a final, really fancy him to him this target when he gets into his stride with his rocket serve. Anyways those are my last 3 tips, GL to all today, enjoy the final should be a good one :ok

  7. Re: Tennis - French Open Right sorry about my picks yesterday, will see if I can improve on them today. 1) Djokovic Melzer over 36.5 games- 4/5 Labrokes 10/10 For me, like most of the others is near enough a certainty as neither of these players has been on a completely different level to the other, hence I would be astonsihed if either was to win in straight sets without problems. Obviously Djokovic you would fancy in normal circumstances but this is clay, which isnt his favourite like you find with most of the top players, perhaps the exception is Nadal in my opinion. I personally wouldnt put it past Melzer to stun his opponent in 4 or even 5 sets but for me, the over bet is the way to go here. 2) Williams to win straight sets- Evens- Ladbrokes 6/10 Again in my opinion a fairly obvious one. She is so much better than her sister who in truth was hammered by Petrova and the best on the women's circuit by a considerable amount. Watching Stosur in her previous match, she had done well to get this far but feel she wont have the athleticism, power or stamina to cope with Serena, leading to a comfortable victory. Not sure if i will take this one yet, but good chance i may. 3) Shvedova to win at least one set- 6/5- Ladbrokes- 10/10 Choosing this rather than the over games simply due to the odds and this being better than evens with the overs just below evens. If its going to be a match over 20.5 games then likelyhood is Shvedova will win a set and perhaps even the match. Whenever i watch Jankovic she always has something about her which makes me think she is vulnerable to a players lyk the Kazak. Could be some money in this match, but I'm just going to go for her to win a set. :cheers

  8. Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20

Leicestershire 10/11 to beat Derbyshire. 365 actually opened Derbyshire as favs which was beyond me. Derbyshire have no Bosman or Langers yet, have a team in which most of the batsman are out of form and the bowlers are poor. Leicestershire have Brad Hodge, MCDonald, Taylor, Jacques Du Toit, all we have are Greg Smith (in poor form) and Chesney Hughes who are big hitters. This could get ugly.
Simple reason for this is that both are soo out of form its untrue. However i would fancy Leicestershire simply due to their players and high scoring agaisnt Middlesex in their recent championship match. I always feel that Derbyshire are the worst team on the county circuit and have been for some time. Not sure if its worth a risk though, but decent odds
  9. Re: Tennis - French Open

Can't stand Jankovic tbh.....when I back her she plays like Murray in GS events, hitting balls in mid-court and serving like a kid. When I oppose her she morphs into Karlovic and firing winners.....;)...to be fair I try to stay away from her as much as possible. I remember Shvedova beating her in the US last year, she has a good game and can trouble her if Jankovic is passive which she usually is for portions of her matches. 6/4 looks like a good price for Shvedova to nick a set...surely play one tight one as it's never plain sailing with Jankovic....though I expect her to progress in the end(hope not though.....:hope)
Ha not jankovic's biggest fan then ;). Yeah i may go for her to drop a set perhaps, 6/5 at ladbrokes is where i usaully go. May have to go for that only, will have a look at the other games now
  10. Re: Tennis - French Open

The write up and reasoning seem good... but if I was following you... how do I know which to follow if you don't even know yourself what your going to do tomorrow!! If you gave bet strengths also' date=' that would be great!! Just pointing that out... I rarely tip myself... I'm a professional 'follower'!![/quote'] Sorry Perry you can tell it was my first time lol. I think I've decided to go for the Federer Soderling under 37.5 games at decent odds of 5/6 but i get the feeling it is qutie safe, touch wood. Also I'm still deliberating over the Youzhny match, I do really fancy him if nobody else does but decide when the it comes to it if i want to back him, perhaps even during the game could be the bet. News- Just seen that yesterday Petrova and Stosur retired in their doubles match but people are speculating what was the reason. Perhaps Stosur was tired after her match or Petrova was ill, might want to have a look into that before betting on the Petrova match. Will have to do that myself as i was going to back her
  11. Re: Tennis - French Open Right as nobody as given specific tips yet, i'm going to stick my head out and give a few, although i'm not sure which ones i'm going to do tomorrow. 1) Federer to win straight sets 10/11-Ladbrokes- Watching Federer this tournament has underlined this bet. He and Nadal are still a long way from the rest in my opinion, although i do believe Nadal will win it eventually, i reckon Federer could cruise this in 3 sets. Defending champion, won't want to give it up yet. 2) Petrova to win- 1.62 StanJames- Must admit i thought Williams would do her in the last game but she was a class above the American, breaking her deadly serve fairly comfortable. Think she will have a bit too much for Dementieva, perhaps in 3 sets, but would go for Petrova to win straight off. 3) Youzhny to beat Berdych-2.79 Bwin- Think I'm the only one who really fancies Youzhny through and through but could be some money in this. Berdych is well renound for cracking in the big games, moreso than his opponent and he has struggled against the Russian in previous encounters. Berdych didnt have to do anything special against Murray but this will certainly push him a great deal further, and in my opinion, too far. That's my first ever tips blog thingy, any good or should i not bother again lol? :hope

  12. Re: Tennis - French Open

Don;t think I'm betting anything tomorow. Prices on Berdych and Petrova seem a little low but I don't want to oppose them:unsure
cramer u seem to be fairly good on the tennis, do u not think its worth a look at youzhny to win, as he is fresh from the tsonga game?
  13. Re: Midweek > Friendly Internationals > 31st May - 3rd June

We should field the same side that beat Montenegro Saturday, with the nice additions of the Riise brothers (Jon Arne from Roma, and Bjørn Helge from Fulham). I expect us to go 4-4-1-1:

Rune Almenning Jarstein Tom Høgli - Kjetil Wæhler - Brede Hangeland - J.A. Riise B.H. Riise - Henning Hauger - Christian Grindheim - Morten Gamst Pedersen Erik Huseklepp John Carew.

though we could end up going 4-5-1 as well. Noteworthy: - We are 34 games without loss at home under this coach (the same coach that led us to 2nd on the FIFA-ranking) - He loves that stat, and will do everything he can to keep it. Expect a defensive approach from the Norwegians.

after this i'm even considering adding norway to make my bet a treble along with holland and albania
