  1. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

The Robredo of old' date=' yes, but recently he's been far from at his best. Early break so hopefully he can consolidate it and kick on.[/quote'] Lets hope but he got an early break in the first and we know what happened. Sorry to be pessimistic :lol.
  2. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July Took a Chela and Robredo double at just above evens. Chela widely expected to beat the Ukranian Stakhovsky, especially on clay which Chela loves and seems to excel on in recent years. On Robredo, I agree with the above. Hasn't been in the best of form, knocked out in first rounds of French Open and Wimbledon, but had a good last week or so and leads the H2H substantially so that's the reasoning for the double. Sorry I couldn't post it a little earlier, internet was playing up :$

Couple of picks for me later on in Atlanta. Benjamin Becker to beat Michael Russell- 4/7 William Hill- 6/10 This is the best price I've seen and have taken it now in case it depreciates further on nearer the game. Becker depends on his power and rocket serving in matches so this match could be decided on how many first serves he gets in. He has had a pretty decent season making the second round in London and first round in Paris. His best surface is grass but his hard court record is not bad either which has been backed up by some good performances this year. His opponnent Michael Russell also got to the second round at Wimbledon but hasn't done a great deal away from this. The American will have to do alot of running in this match which he is quite suited to as he is quick across the court and gives it everything. In my opinion the only way Russell will trouble Becker is if Becker doesn't find his range or his first serve percentage is minimal. Don't think this will be the case though due to Becker's good season so think he will come through this one. Teimuraz Gabashvilli to beat Rainer Schuettler- Evens William Hill- 2/10 Have taken this one purely on recent form and confidence which Gaba is bagged with at the moment. Has had superb performances most notably on clay, reaching the fouth round at Roland Garros and also reached the 2nd in London so confidence should be high in his camp for the match. Rainer is 34 now and hasn't had too much success in the last few years, not making it past the second round in the last 2 years. He can call upon his vast experience to get him out of tricky situations but simply as a result of recent form, favouring Gaba to take a close one.
All you can do is laugh at this really. Becker was absolutely shocking. Russell beat him comfortably without playing well. Both players beaten comfortably so a fair loss :(
  4. Re: Cricket: Clydesdale Bank 40

2 for me tonight. 3pts Worcestershire to beat Sussex 5/2 Blue Square I'm sort of priced in here because this is a huge price in a two horse race. Although it's a completely different format of the game to the twenty20 there's no doubt Worcestershire finished off the twenty20 matches in better form. Sussex lost 6 of their last 7 matches and did well to be so close to 2nd place in the end. Worcestershire were never serious qualification contenders but at least they restored some confidence and pride. Sussex will be looking for a win to more closer to Surrey and Somerset at the top of this tough group. Michael Yardy will skipper them. Luke Wright and Matt Prior are available but Dwayne Smith is only contracted for the twenty20. Monty Panesar will be hoping for a recall to the side. Worcestershire have their captain Vikram Solanki back in the ranks but will be without an overseas player here as Shakib hasn't arrived just yet. Moeen Ali is the form man for the Royals while with the ball young Chowdhry is making a name for himself and should go well on a turning wicket. Day/night cricket so it's always a bit more of a lottery. This match wouldn't come under my d/n theory as there are permanent lights here but it's something to think about. Worcestershire have no pressure on them as they are as good as out of this so it may free the likes of Solanki and Ali up to take Sussex on. Sussex's confidence might be a bit low so at 5/2 I'll take the Royals here with the price a shade too big. 1pt M.Yardy Top Sussex Batsman 7/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) It's hard to know exactly where in this Sussex lineup Michael Yardy will bat but similar to McKenzie for Hampshire yesterday, I suspect he'll be the glue around which the big hitters play. I would imagine Yardy will bat at 5 but he could easily bat higher. He played a couple of really good one day innings for England in recent weeks and also put in a decent knock in the twenty20's since his return. Smith isn't here anymore so I expect Yardy to come in and although this is a strong Sussex batting lineup I'm not sure it's so strong that Yardy should be 7/1. At the price I'll have a go on the England international to top score for his side this evening.
Flipping hell, just seen what Sussex got, not watching it but imagining the boundaries are tiny like the T20 yesterday?

  6. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July Yeah you could do, read it again and it is extremely misleading. I'm just about to stick with Gaba and take Becker @ 4/7 and I'll do a write up in about 10 mins. So yeh go ahead with deleting it and I'll hopefully write a more accurate one, or so one would hope :hope

  7. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

As far as your bet goes' date=' it certainly makes Schuettler a more difficult opponent for Gabashvili. If it was on clay, I'd be with you all the way on this one, but the price would be skimpier. You never know though, Gabashvili still has a decent chance even on a quicker court.[/quote'] I'm kinda hoping they meet eachother on clay soon though, so I can just paste my post from above :rollin. Yeah but the main reason for the bet would be clay, it's just not worth it at that price with a player of his unpredictable nature.
  8. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Atlanta's on an outdoor hard court mate. Changes the dynamic of this match a lot. Schuettler may be 34 but is as fit as a fiddle and likes quicker surfaces. Saying that' date=' Gabashvili's got good form behind him. Toughie...[/quote'] Looooool maybe I should have stayed asleep a little longer and then seen what I was writing :loon. Cheers for that mate, can't stop laughing to myself, will have a closer closer look now :ok
  9. Re: Stan James World Matchplay Darts - July 17-25

Hey guys' date=' i'm new here and I reckon it's pretty cool to talk darts coming from Australia. What ya think about the Lewis v Webster match? Don't know what to bet on since there are very limited markets in Australia[/quote'] Regarding this match, I'm going to do the maximum checkout bet. This is: Maxiumum checkout over 120.5- 5/6 Ladbrokes Worked a treat with the Barney match yesterday and feel either one of these players can hit a healthy checkout tonight. Most people haev gone for handicap as people feel it could be close. However alternatively, Lewis is one of those players who could blow Webster away or again the complete opposite. Very very hard player to bet on in my opinion so I feel this is the best bet on this one.
  10. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July Another week to come guys. Just had a brief look at the prices and a couple took the eye. Gabashvilli against Schuettler is 5/6 just now and all I can see is those odds going down. Rainer is 34 now and hasn't had much success for a while now whilst Terimuraz has had one of his best ever seasons. 4th round at Roland Garros, where he hammered Roddick and got through to the second round at Wimbledon. Worth a look I think at that price. Another one is Janko Tipsarević @ 4/6 against Anderson. The Serb has performed well in grand slams over the last few years but not much in the current season. Still a class act when he's on song though. Anderson has won a tournament this year in the shape of the Baton Rouge. He's a decent player at best really and his world ranking shows this as he's no.97 currently. Very tall player but with this comes a lack of speed and agility around the court. Might look into these 2 a bit more before betting.

  11. Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Not complaining about the boundaries, hampshire almost covered my boundaries bet by themselves ;). It's the same for both sides though. The shorter boundaries just provide more excitement in my opinion. If your a more traditional cricket fan, you wouldn't approve of the 20/20 format anyways as a great deal of the shots are slogs, that you would never find in test cricket. 20/20 is purely there for exciting shots, lots of boundaries and thrilling ends. It attracts more younger followers towards the game that will hopefully get them watching the longer formats and even playing it themselves. Away from the argument, followed a couple of the above with Sussex getting more sixes so hope Wright, Smith, Goodwin, Prior and co can smash some around the ground, or at least mishit a few for six :lol

  12. Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 Really want to get involved with the Hampshire Sussex game as it should be a cracker, so much at stake. However with the results with Hampshire this season, it's either an exciting high scoring encounter or a shocking batting peformance totally around the 100 mark. The line for total boundries is 32.5, so debating whether to take overs on that. Feel that if Sussex bat first it is more likely to be achieved but Hampshire are soooo unpredictable :(

  13. Re: Stan James World Matchplay Darts - July 17-25

Early thoughts are heading towards the bet between Barney and Ovens. Ladbrokes are doing the highest checkout either over/under 120.5. Ovens is extremely steady and can' date=' when playing well take out a 140+. Barney has had problems but as if what we hear is true, he is really up for the tournament, so he will be keen to impress with some high scoring checkouts. Any thoughts towards this one. It priced at 5/6 atm for both :ok[/quote'] Barney did it with a 9 darter, best way to do it :ok
