  1. Re: Stan James World Matchplay Darts - July 17-25

bit dissapointed last night got the high outs but not the 180s bet well you n=know what they say if at first you don't suceed try, try again so here goes BARNEVELD v WADE, barney most 180s 6/5. I have taken Kevs bet on Barney outright so would a win here sees me secure EW payout, Barney as we know is approaching form again, concerns over last night should be put to one side he was playing Stompe a close friend and Barney is'nt like Taylor who friend or foe he wants to beat up badly, Barney has a problem beating his mates always has done i recall some games against Sholten he struggled to win with any conviction. but make no mistake he is up for thumping Wade (i can't blame him!) Wade it is worth remembering has a good record here champ and runner up last two years, so whether we like it or not he has pedigree here, but this year Smith, VDV and Jones have all pushed him hard all getting to within 3 legs of victory so Wade has struggled and against players who whilst are a good standard (well they play PDC so they must be good) those are three players that someone of Wades standard should be beating comfortably. yes Wade leads Barney in the 180s count but he has played far more legs than the coasting Barney, so that has to be considered and i have alwatys said that Wade has a tendancy to put in two or three bad throws in succession when under the cosh nad my god will he be well under that cosh tonight! so i reckon that this is a great bet for us here. TAYLOR V WHITLOCK highest checkout over 134.5 @4/5 if there was two players you would want to be playing to beat tis line these two would be your picks surely, Whitlock is renowned for his big take outs whilst Taylor can finish any number and when he is pushed as he will be here he will HAVE to go for them, as Burgess once said "yes , Taylor gives you chances 161, 164, 167!) well that will be meat and Drink for Whitlock who's only worry for me is that flu bug is he rested up enough has he shaken it off if not then will struggle if he is on top form we are in for a ding dang do. another thing that worries me is i don't feel matchplay suits Simon i know that sounds strange but Kev and Parry will understand certain players prefer the format of set play the likes of Part, Priestley Nicholson, and Wayne Jones are four tha spring to mind for me whilst Lewis in particular, and to lesser extent VDV,Baxter and Anderson are far more formidable in legs play. whilst Taylor and Barney excell in all formats, but this for me has to be a no brainer we are going to see plenty of shots at 140+ outs and it is pretty certain one of them will nail at leats one over the 20+ legs i expect them to play.
Just to let you know, Ladbrokes are doing the checkout line at 132.5 @ 5/6, doesn't really make much difference well it shouldn't but will probably take it with them. :ok

Some wta picks today from me Chakvetadze to beat hercog 6/10 1.85 at my local bookie Despite the fact i'm slovenian i'm going aginst polona today. Saw all her matches in Portorož and she showed sam good especially smart tennis. Naturally she is a claycourtet so that should be an advantage for ana in this match. She played great groundstrokes yesterday against dushevina after very bad first set. If she can play at the same level today she will take hercog out. Polona has a great forehand which was the key for yesterday's match against voegele who was really bad with this shot and played nervous tennis. I expect ana will be able to deal with forehand exchanges much better than voegele. Larsson to beat Pervak 6/10 1.78 at my local bookie Have to take larsson here because i believe she is in a dream run here. Her form is improving in the last month and i belive she will take pervak out after an easy win against pavlychenkova yesterday Cornet to beat georges 7/10 1.75 at my local bookie Watched most of her matches in july and she keeps bringing me some good money. I took her aginst petkovič and will do the same today. She took out a local girl mayr who played great this week and had a crowd support. She also played less time this week than georges who went into 3 setters against average players
Just be careful with the Larsson one. Watched her beat Camerin and in the first set she was pretty average. Broke in the decisive game to save the set and then took 8 games in a row. Lots of unforced errors but got over the line in the end. Pervak is also having one of her best tournaments and remember she beat Cibulkova early on in the tournament so just a few things to consider there. :ok
  3. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July Looking at the matches, it is mostly a flip of a coin in my opinion. Pro has got a good strategy for today, as I see a fair number of the matches lasting a while. Only one I will consider doing is Golubev due to his form but will have a closer look at the stats now.

  4. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

No idea what's going on there. Though put on some quid on Dent actually. Atlanta is a tournament of surprises' date=' so why not, especially when Fish is reportedly injured.[/quote'] Key word is Atlanta there. Sends shivers down my spine. Think I'll let you guys have a go at that one tonight, so unpredictable. I'll just have a look at the early prices for tomorrow I think. :beer
  5. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Anna could not hit any right ball in the first set and then was 2-0 down in the second. Dushevina was serving for the match @ 5-4 in the decider and missed couple matchpoints before going down mentally. Nervous stuff though Chakvetadze had her chances early in the third set...
Thanks, was due a bit of luck after this week. Whats the deal with Fish then, he withdrew from doubles yesterday. Guessing he has to have an injection to stand a chance today...?
  6. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Right as I said Psycho has covered this perfectly but will just underline what he has said as it stood out for me. Anna Chakvetadze to beat Vera Dushevina- 8/11 Ladbrokes- 7/10 Could not believe how generous the price was on Anna judging on recent performances. Watched the Razzano Dushevina match in the last round and she is so lucky to be in the next round. Lost the first set fairly comfortably and in the second when it looked like she was going out, threw a massive strop, head dropped, complained to the umpire for nothing really and hit wildy. It just simply Razzano's ability not to finish her off at 30-30 5-4 that allowed her back in the game. She hit a number of unforced errors and not too many winners, mainly unforced from Razzano. Anna in contrast is finding some of her great form that lead her to the top 10 once upon a time. Hasn't dropped a set so far, beating Errani as comfortable as you like. In the doubles, she is having a good run with Erakovic as well so she is clearly enjoying her tennis at the minute. She is a very clever player, being very small, she plays delicate shots that I don't see Dushevina coping with. If Anna gets on top, she will see the game out.
Didn't catch any of the match. Anyone care to tell me if it was comfortable or not? First match I've ever won thats gone to 3 sets :loon
  7. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Ill have a go.banking georges at 1.65 with l.a galaxy to win in msl at 1.4...:hope
Only thing that is putting me off her is that she played a singles and a doubles match today, won both but maybe a touch jaded. The girl who she's facing didn't have anything on today. However saying that, Georges is playing well and having no trouble breaking serve at all.
  8. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Ambitious double but why not: Florian Mayer(to beat JCF) X Sandra Zahlavova(to beat Timea Bazinsky) double @ 9/1 Strength :(2/10) I think Mayer will win tomorrow. Ferrero has a 4-0 lead over Mayer but as saw with Starace and Robredo earlier this week, these records don't really mean a great deal when those four matches have been played over six years, and when you consider Ferrero's career (and decline) and Mayer's injury hell over that period. Tomorrow will be a 'fresh match' and I fancy Mayer beat a jaded Ferrero who had quite a testing match with Nieminen today. The Zahlavova match will be a topsy-turvy one. Bazinsky easily beat Sandra a few months ago but the second set was 6-4 after the first set drubbing, and if Sandra can get in the match here she could grind it out. She's had a couple of very good victories this week and Bacsinsky has been very up and down. Only a couple of weeks ago she got easily beaten by Cornet and she had a struggle with the unheralded Dzehalevich yesterday. I can see Zahlavova pulling this off. :hope
Was also thinking of going for Zahlavova with small stakes but opted against it. Simply because of the quality of the opponents the two have faced coming into the competition. Zahlavova did okay against some pretty average opponents whereas Bacsinsky has played well against some higher class opponents. True say though that she has been edgy in the last couple of days, so if that form carries through to tomorrow, could be an interesting result.

  10. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Caught early odds in couple matches. Prolly will have a few more selections later. Anna Chakvetadze to beat Vera Dushevina. 1.77 @ Pinnacle. (7/10) Perfect match-up for Chakvetadze. All Russian affair not the best match to get into in betting terms but this one has clear indications of Chakvetadze win. Anna is a former Top 10 player and finally having some form which is very nice to see. This match will bring up completely different styles and I reckon Chakvetadze will like playing Dushevina. Vera has got decent serve and power all round her game but has got no plan B when things go wrong. Chakvetadze is a lot smarter player and will benefit from longer rallies. Dushevina's inconsistency has been visible in her previous two matches when she was forced/came back to play 3 sets whilst Chakvetadze has destroyed Makarova and Errani dropping just 8 games combined in 4 sets. H2H is 1-0 in favor of Chakvetadze who I'm backing to win today. Julia Goerges to beat Anastasia Pivovarova. 1.67 @ William Hill. (10/10) This is a bargain. I mean the only way Pivovarova is going to win this one is if Goerges gets sick. The German player is in form of her lifetime. She has just won a challenger and got to semifinals in Palermo last week. Pivovarova is average player who can lose match by 6-0, 6-0 if she's not careful. Beating out of form Bammer and following that up with a 3 set win against Olaru who never seems to be consistent enough and is a Romanian after all is a no big deal. No offense but players from this country generally are not ones to be trusted. Having said all that, straight forward win for Goerges. Double it up with another banker and you'll get nice odds. Take this offer while it's still there.
Haha got in there before me on the chakvetadze one, did a write up a bit earlier, not sure if its worth it anymore ;)
  11. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Thanx bro dont like him either.got lucky.and yeah it has been damn unpredictable but im thinking ...its americans causing the big upsets ...in america.im gonna try backing them here nw if the price is right and c what happens...
Yeah good thinking about the Americans. Right now I'm just laughing at the Ram Roddick match, 3 setter :lol
  12. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Not sure if it's worth even writing this one up, usually would be confident but if this week carries on how it has, likely she will be at match point and retire. But here goes anyways... Larsson to beat Camerin- 1/2 Various- 6/10 Okay to be blunt about this, Camerin shouldn't even be in the second round. She was 4-0 40-0 down to Rodionova in the third set before I dont really know what happened. Either she starting playing on her knees or just chocked unbelievably bad. She was broken on numerous occassions in the match and served up a number of double faults. Larsson is more experienced than Camerin this year on the hard surface. She has won a few events as well so hopefully she can pull through for me on this one.
7-5 6-1, not as easy as that suggested. She was 5-4 down in the first before winning 8 games on the trot. Nice to finally pick a winner though, even though it was expected. Unlucky on Reister Atko, followed you on that one and was a break up in 3rd :\

  14. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

Haha. Self destructs Schuettler and Zeballos involved in doubles. Pathetic... Perhaps they should team-up for the next event.
Schuettler and Rodionova against Razzano and Zeballos, guraranteed choking and 3 setters in that, with breaks of serve occuring more than the hold of serve.
  15. Re: Tennis - 19-25 July

This tournament should be banned from ATP 250 level. It's like Challenger event with all it's consequences. And the same exact thing can be said about Newport. I'm surprised that Querrey didn't show up for this one. His pal Isner is playing. This is the type of tournament which is suited for Querrey to make the final. :lol
Haha even for tomorrow's matches I'm considering taking Marchenko based on his better form than Malisse but then it could be the tournament for Malisse to let his hair down and go wild in. :)
