  1. Re: SPL 6th and 7th August

Corners are pretty hard to predict though
About as hard as predicting a result I would say. If you know how the teams play i.e with wingers who head for the byline and cross instead of cutting in - they will win their team more corners. I'm quite confident this would have came in but the main man in corner winning (with his pace) got himself sent off.

Dundee United v St Mirren - (Asian Total Corners) Over 10.5 Corners @ 1.85 - B365 6pts Decent sized bet for this pick. They both averaged around the 10-12 corner mark last season but both have had numerous switches in terms of players. St Mirren have strengthend their attacking options with Hasselbaink providing pace. St Mirren played vs Dunfermline away (9-2 on corners to St Mirren) and they beat Aberdeen 7-2 on the corner count at home. Dundee United's two SPL games have seen 23 and 15 corners; even their home leg vs Slask saw Dundee United win 7-5 on corners. Hasselbaink's pace and Teale's crossing win the Saints a fair few corners and Dundee United obviously win their share. This line should be covered with a few to spare if all goes to plan.
9-1 - 1 short :wall Sending off didn't help. Luck wasn't with me today.

Stevenage v Exeter City - Lay Stevenage @ 2.26 - Betfair 2pt Liability My one serious bet for tomorrow. I still don't know to this day how Stevenage got promoted! They failed to win a game at home against the top eight teams - winning once and losing seven to them same top eight teams away from home. They kicked off their season last time out against Macclesfield were they went off 1.91 favourites and could only scrape a 2-2 draw. Exeter are no mugs; they finished eighth last season and even with the loss of Cureton, they can get a result here. I know the confidence factor etc but I don't see it helping them in any way. I stumbled across some stats on Twitter: Teams promoted from League 2, opening day fixture in League 1, in the last 6 seasons. Played - 24. Won - 5. Drew - 6. Lost - 13.
    0-0 FT. :ok
  4. Re: England: Championship Aug 5-7

Why do you keep bringing that meaningless stat up? unsure.gif

Surprising result. Looked nailed on for a 0-0, but a stunner broke the deadlock.

How is it meaningless? It shows that favourites buckle under the pressure of the cameras and it's a trend which a lot of bettors look out for. You obviously bet on feelings and you lost.

  6. Re: England: Championship Aug 5-7

Quick notes: Since the opening match has been switched to a Friday (on TV) both favourites have failed to win. 2010/11 Norwich 2-3 Watford (H - 1.83 X - 3.5 A - 4.33) and 2009/10 Middlesbrough 0-0 Sheffield Utd (H - 2.25 X - 3.25 A - 3.2) Hull only won once at home last season vs the top 12 teams. Last three H2H's between Middlesbrough & Portsmouth have ended in draws.
Three years in a row now! Hull fail to win at home, again.

  8. Re: Germany - Bundesliga II - 5-8 August

Fortuna Dusseldorf v Inglostadt: Fortuna Dusseldorf @ 1.70 - Betfair 8pts Fortuna Dusseldorf AH (-0.75) @ 2.04 - 188BET 4pts Unbelieveable odds here! Fortuna Dusseldorf are one of the strongest teams at home in Germany. They are unbeaten in their last sixteen (won fifteen of them) games at the Espirit Arena. They are looking at the best to start to a season with a win over Inglostadt and the odds are in their favour in my opinion. They have already beaten promotion favourites Bochum at home so they are a tough nut to crack at home. Inglostadt lost at St Pauli 2-0 and then shared the points with a goalless draw with Aue. I don't think they will be able to live with Fortuna here. Both came through unscathed in the DFB Pokal but Dusseldorf are on a bit of an unbeaten run carried on from last season and it would be a massive surprise to see anything other then another home win for Fortuna Dusseldorf. I had the odds comparison site up while I was researching and Foruna were 1.72 with B365; came back and they dropped to 1.66.
4-1 :ok Love it when the big bets bank!
  9. Re: England: Championship Aug 5-7

Aye, but to put that in to perspective, Norwich were w*nk that day, and up against a side that was, for the first half of the season anyway, one of the most dangerous on the road. Middlesbrough were under Southgate, enough said. Hull's home form was bad last season, as I said in my post about this match, but I'm certain it'll improve this season. The 3-0 friendly win against Liverpool is a possible sign of this.
Take friendlies with a pinch of salt, as I have been told numerous times ;) I was just posting some thoughts, not saying they won't win. Personally, betting on the first round of any league is like a game of darts. Everyone is pumped up no matter how shit they are.

  12. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thurs 4 August Lokomotiv Sofia v Slask Wroclaw - Over 2.5 @ 2.40 - Betfair 2pts No way should a 2nd leg of a cup tie be this high! I think the fact that the 1st leg ended 0-0 has played a role but that's normal. Sofia, away from home, keep it tight. Their last 8/9 away games have been under in all competitions. Likewise with Slask who only beat Dundee Utd 1-0 at home but then found themselves in a five goal thriller in the return leg. Slask love to counter attack and away from home they can do that to their true potential. I have a feeling they will set up in a 4-5-1 formation but can they keep firm? I doubt it. Sofia went to Metalurg and grinded out a 0-0 draw before edging them in a 3-2 victory in Sofia. Both of these, against the better teams of their leagues, score but do conceed quite a few. This can finish 0-0 like the bookies expect but I'll take the risk and find out. An earlier Slask goal would be brilliant. :ok

  13. Re: Club Friendlies - Friday 29th July Malaga will play with a different line-up to the one that started vs Utrecht. Rubén, Mathijsen, Eliseu, Cala, Samu, Buonanotte, Joaquín, Camacho, Apoño, Sebastián Fernández will start and in the second half Cazorla will play his first minutes for his new club. Article - http://tinyurl.com/3ed6qpe - Some information on the Mallorca match: ''Tonight Mallorca play their third friendly of the tour against Go Ahead Eagles. Aki and Castro are both a doubt with injuries, and Juan Calatayud has only just returned to training after picking up an injury against Heerenveen. Víctor is likely to return to the team, however.''

  14. Re: Germany - DFB Pokal - 29 July-1 August Hansa Rostock vs Bochum - Bochum @ 2.60 - 188 2pts Not seen much that attracts me but this is worth a punt. Hansa Rostock, as little as a few hours ago, have suspended five of their players. They are said to have been in a club until 4am on Wednesday night and had been drinking heavily. The players: Jörg Hahnel, Kevin Pannewitz, Matthias Holst, Tino Semmer, and Stephan Gusche. Only Semmer has started both of their games this season, netting once, and is a key player for them from what I've seen. They lost 2-1 to Paderborn at home and drew with Dresden 1-1 on their travels. They were knocked out by Hoffenheim last year by four goals to nil. Bochum lost their opening game to Fortuna Dusseldorf, a team of immense quality. The follow up 1-0 win at home vs FSV Frankfurt will have lifted their spirits though after a late but delicious goal from Ginczek. They dominated the whole second half and had the better of the game but seemed to lack the luck they needed. They will fancy their chances here for sure. Home advantage might work in Rostock's favour but Bochum, if they get it right, have too much quality.

  15. Re: Club Friendlies - Friday 29th July Go Ahead Eagles vs Mallorca - Mallorca @ 2.00 - B365 2pts Mallorca play their penultimate game on their tour of Holland with Go Ahead Eagles the opponents. Laudrup has identified Mallorca's weakness from last season which is their defence and has been working over the summer to improve it. He has bought in a new goalkeeper as well as four defenders and has seen them work extremely well together. They looked extremely solid in their previous two friendlies. They beat Heerenveen 2-0 and then edged NEC with a solitary goal. At half time in the NEC game which was 0-0, Mallorca had 7 shots on target to NEC's 1. It was a similar story in the Heerenveen game where Mallorca performed really well. Go Ahead Eagles have lost Biezen and Pedro to better clubs due to them being their top goalscorers of the previous season. They kicked off their pre-season with a five nil loss to Heerenveen but played the PSV youth team on Tuesday and won 3-1. It will be interesting to see if they play their first team again but I would still fancy the Spanish to prevail here which ever team they decide to put in front of them. Under 2.5 @ 2.05 could also be worth a play here. Mallorca are working on there defence more than anything and don't have many strikers at their disposal.

  16. Re: UEFA Europa League > 26-28 July Nacional vs Hacken - Hacken EH (+1) @ 3.40 - Corbettsports 5pts Nacional are worth a massive lay here. The Swedish are being undermined in these European competitions but they are picking up results. Malmo, who were massive underdogs, went to Scotland and took all three points from champions Rangers not long ago. I feel Hacken can get a result here. Hacken have won their last six matches in all competitions which will breed confidence into this team that they can go to Portugal and impress. Their top goal scorer, Mattias Ranegie (17 apps, 14 goals), is in top form netting four from his last six starts. The Swedish league is well under way so they may have the edge in terms of fitness here. They meet a Nacional side who will know that this will be a much harder test then that of Iceland’s FH who they beat 2-0 at home. Of course they are a decent side but 1.40 with some Bookies, absolute madness. Corbettsports seem to have made a rick here because 3.40, which is essentially a draw/win, is too big or have I got this all wrong? Not savvy with all these handicaps.

  17. Re: Club Friendlies - Thursday 28th July

Eastwood Town v Huddersfield Town @ 3 - BET365. I think a few bookies have this down as a Huddersfield XI. Word is Town are sending their first team down for the game, all bar the injured players. I think this game will be used primarily for squad players and senior players to stake a claim for a first team berth. But, it will most definitely not consist of reserves and youth players, as the odds suggest. Eastwood were recently beaten 4-0 by a Derby County side containing several first teamers. Huddersfield last played a friendly in a 3-0 win over Fleetwood Town last Friday, and do look pretty good so far in pre season. They play their last friendly on Saturday, before the new season kicks off.
Great shout. I'm on :ok Eastwood have already lost 4 zip to a Derby XI, which was a mixture of squad players and youth. They also lost 1-0 to Wrexham a week ago. The Huddersfield team that starts tonight will be well up for this so 2/1 looks massive.
  18. Re: Club Friendlies - Wednesday 27th July

FC Utrecht vs Malaga - Malaga @ 1.90 - PaddyPower 4pts These two have had slightly different transfer windows. Malaga have strengthened with the very best while Utrecht have lost some of their key players. Mertens and van Wolfswinkel have left the Dutch club, the two top goalscorers of last season. Malaga have taken a full squad to Holland, even joined by Cazorla who recently signed from Villarreal. Utrecht start their season next weekend but have prepared poorly as of yet. They lost 2-1 to both Lierse and Mechelen of Belgium and then recorded a goalless draw with Ergotelis. Opponents, Malaga, have already ripped apart an Qatari side 6-1 and then beat a solid Xerex side 1-0. The Malaga players have taken part in a light training session this morning and should have enough to win here despite it being a friendly. This match is played on neutral ground, at amateur club JSV Nieuwegein's stadium.
    0-3 :ok
