  1. Re: Club Friendlies > Tuesday 12th July Volga Novgorod vs Sheffield Wednesday - Volga Novgorod @ 2.37 - Bet365 1pt Agree with AHughes here. Being an English side they have been priced up well too short in my opinion; for one this is their first friendly and for two Volga play at a higher level. Megson has already said that the result of this friendly doesn't matter and that the team starting tonight, in all likelihood, will not be the team that starts the first game of the upcoming season. Volga, in mid season, are the clear value bet in this match up this afternoon. Wednesday are coming to the end of their high intensity training in Austria after completing two training sessions a day for the last week so it will be interesting to see how they do today.

Argentina vs Costa Rica - (Asian Total Cards) Over 5 @ 1.90 - Bet365 2pts So, Argentina need a win but a draw will be enough for Costa Rica. This is the kind of game I like to get involved in the cards market for. I can't be having any of this "they have to win tonight and will" etc. They've been a right shambles from the get-go and the outright odds are ridiculous. Anyway, the ref for this game is Victor Huga Rivera of Peru and he isn't shy with his cards. I don't think there's been a game where he hasn't flashed a yellow. The lad upfront for CR is tricky and will give the Argentina absolute nightmares tonight. I think we will see at least 5 cards here with the stakes at play for both sides to qualify for the next round in 2nd place.
    6 yellows. :ok
  3. Re: Golf: The Open 2011 I've backed 3 on Betfair, looking to lay at some stage or leave them to run if they look promising. Graeme McDowell @ 33/1 Showed some of his top form in his 2nd round in Scotland and has a decent record on these links courses. The spotlight has been taken away from Graeme slighty which could work in his favour. Has been hitting a lot of greens this year. Retief Goosen @ 59/1 Finished 12 under in Scotland for a 14th placed finish last week and his game is in great shape. Retief finished 6th last year with a steady four rounds and he will go well again here in my opinion. Peter Hansen @ 89/1 Hansen has been threatening the top of the leaderboard in the last month or so. He doesn't have much course form just think he will go well around St. Andrews this weekend. Good luck. :ok

  5. Re: Club Friendlies - Monday 11th July

Havant and Waterlooville vs Portsmouth - Portsmouth AH (-1) This is an annual friendly that we usually win (drew 2-2 last season) and should have too much this time round. All our new signings will feature, Halford will start and only 4 of our younger players will play. Last season we hardly had a team and used a whole 11 of youngsters for the last half hour but this time round we are looking strong. Ashdown, Henderson, Rocha, Halford, Ward, Pearce, Mullins, Kitson, Varney will all get minutes at some point but Norris looks doubtful. Young Boys vs West Ham - Young Boys AH (-0.5) Young Boys are miles ahead in preperation, Allardyce will be chopping and changing his side regularly. All the players that played over summer will not feature for the Hammers today. Double @ 3.27 - Bet365 1pt (Don't over do it on friendly matches)
Havant and West Ham started well but the class of Pompey and the fitness of the Young Boys team showed in the end. :ok
  6. Re: Club Friendlies - Monday 11th July

You won't get rich betting on friendlies.
I disagree. Anderlecht had a youth side out the other day so backed Otelul Galati at 5/1, who had their first team out, and they won 1-0. Bochum opened up at 6/5 against Aberdeen who are poor anyway but it was their first friendly, Bochum won 2-1. If you research you can nick a few quid but a lot of people on here can't be arsed to.

  8. Re: Copa America 2011 - Outright Bets

I thought we could all add some opinions on the teams we think have a chance of winning the Copa America 2011. Colombia are my value pick at 34/1 (General)' date= and here's a little reason why.
If anyone followed, you can now lay on Betfair at 11/1. I will be riding on mine a little longer as I have been really impressed with their peformances and with Falcao now finding his feet they have a chance of winning this Copa America.
  9. Re: Germany - Bundesliga II - 15-18 July Karlsruhe vs Duisburg - Duisburg AH (-0.25) @ 2.20 - Bet365 1pt I decided against just the one bet and took on Duisburg who are looking strong in the build up to this coming season. Despite the 2-0 loss to Bochum (who I think will win or come close to winning the Bundesliga 2 this season) they have blitzed through their friendlies winning the remaining six, netting at least twice in each. They will look to open their campaign up with 3 points against a different looking opponent. Their opponents, Karlsruhe, have had a massive shuffle amongst their squad after finishing 15th last season. They have sold two key players to Monchengladbach; Zimmermann (33 apps, the most of any Karlsruhe player last season) and midfielder Rupp (24 apps, 3 goals). They have let 17 depart but have bought the same amount back in which could cause communication problems at the start of the campaign. I can't find any information on their friendlies but I can imagine they have been trying to bond during the summer season. Due to their team/squad perhaps still trying to find time to gel I am happy to be with Duisburg here with a little cover. Duisburg have lost a few players themselves but dipped into the markets to secure replacements. Karlsruhe lost 4-1 in their first game last season while Duisburg took 3 points away from Osnabruck with a 3-1 win. They also beat Frankurt 2-1 the season before that away from home. Duisburg have previously started well and can catch Karlsruhe in a transitional period next weekend.

  10. Re: Copa America > 8th-9th July

Brazil vs Paraguay - (Asian Handicap Corners) Brazil -2 @ 1.825 - Bet365 1pt Brazil remain unchanged from the goalless draw with Venezuela and will come up against another solid side in Paraguay tonight. I didn't manage to watch both of their first games but caught some really brief highlights. Paraguay seemed to start well against Ecuador but didn't see much from them after that but as I say I did only watch the highlights. I was expecting this line to be higher to be fair perhaps it's only set at two due to them only forcing one against Venezuela (to Venezuela's two). Brazil peppered their goal and usually a few of them shots/blocks would of trickled out for corners but somehow never. The pacey trio in Neymar, Pato and Robinho will also win corners in difficult areas. Brazil will probably dominate the game and have the ball for longer periods with their full backs bombing forward occasionally. The line seems fair and one I'm definately willing to have a punt on.
    6-2 :ok

  12. Re: Germany - Bundesliga II - 15-18 July Braunschweig vs 1860 Munich - Braunschweig AH (-0.25) @ 2.50 - Bet365 1pt Due to it being the first weekend I will only be taking one bet and that's with a team I am familiar with. I visit my Nan in Germany who lives mightly close to Braunschweig and from what I could tell when I am mimbling around is that they love their Football. They have a 25k seater which is usually full to the rafters in the so called bigger games but the majority turn out in their numbers week in week out. Anyway, Braunschweig blitzed the 3. Liga last season with their home form being key to their success. They won a massive sixteen games, drew one and only lost twice on their turf. Even the season before the one just gone (2009/2010) they won thirteen at home, drew three and lost the remaining three. Braunschweig accumalated 81 goals over the course of the season and just the 22 flying in their own net. Most of the credit for that has to go to Kumbela (38 apps, 19 goals) and Kruppke (34 apps, 16 goals); who they have managed to keep hold of which is a massive coup. They have strengthened their side with a few players and shouldn't feel too out of place in the step up in standard. 1860 Munich had big expectations put on their shoulders last season but could only muster a 9th placed finish. They have masses of quality but their away form isn't great which let them down slightly. They won seven, drew three but lost seven of their matches away from home. If they have any ideas of getting promoted this needs to be looked at closely. Both have had decent pre-seasons but another thing I noticed was their first round matches. 1860 lost 3-2 to Bochum away from home last season while Braunschweig beat Dynamo Dresden 2-1 at their gaf (and Osnabruck 1-0 the season before that.) Big crowd, confidence from last season and excellent home form; you just have to take on the home side here even with the slight quality difference.

  13. Re: Npower League One > Ante-Post 2011-12 Season FL1 - Brentford @ 17/2 To Be Promoted 2011/12 - Sporting Bet 1pt Recently appointed Uwe Rosler takes charge of a team that finished in 11th place last season; 10 points off the pace for a play-off spot. His summer dealings have got me interested and I think they are a decent outsider for promotion in the upcoming season. Rosler has already added Clayton Donaldson to his squad along with Jonathan Douglas, Marcel Eger, Shaleum Logan, Niall McGinn and is also looking for another loan player in the coming weeks. He has retained the services of Karleigh Osbourne (so far) who is a massive player for the Bees and got his business done early doors. Brentford lacked a double figure striker last season and I think Donaldson, who netted 28 times in League 2 last season, can step up to the plate and deliver. The Crewe fans certainly rate him "He's quick, got pace and power and his finishing is top notch." The Brentford fans are looking forward to the new season so they obviously feel their squad is decent enough for a promotion push. I'll join the bandwagon at a tasty price.

  14. Re: Club friendlies 06 July 2011

Bochum v Aberdeen - Under 2.75 @ 2.18 - Pinnacle 2pts Fancied Bochum initially but not at anything below evens in a friendly. They started training 5 days before Aberdeen and have played more test matches which gives them a slight edge, I feel. However Craig Brown isn't taking this lightly, he has been studying videos of the German outfit and is starting with his strongest XI with only the keeper, Chris Oldfield, being the lone trialist. It looks like they will play a 4-5-1 with a few younger players on the flanks, a similar formation Bochum play. The German side beat Duisburg 2-0 last time out with Ginczek, a 20 y/o from Dortmund on loan, grabbing both after coming on in the 2nd half. He will start tonight however I think because this is a friendly they have set the line higher then they usually would. Took the same line in the Cottbus/Teplice yesterday which won comfortably. Obviously there will be alot of changes etc but still, I like this bet more than backing Bochum at 1.60 which is poor value.
Unbelieveable. 1-0 in the 85th minute then Aberdeen make it 1-1. Bochum net with the very very last kick. :@

  16. Re: Copa America > Thursday 7th July

I think we'll probably see a few changes by Batista here. Would expect to see Lavezzi dropped and Di Maria brought in. Maybe even Aguero to start in place of Tevez. If Argentina thought breaking down Bolivia was hard, wait till they face Colombia. I expect to see plenty of bad fouls and potential red cards in this game :@ . Probably a 1-0 to Argentina, with a Messi free kick to win it or something. Won't be pretty...but think Argentina may do just enough.
No. That is the only change.
  17. Re: Finland - Ykkönen KooTeePee v FC Lahti: KooTeePee DNB @ 2.62 2pts - Hills (Highest Scoring Half) 2nd @ 2.10 2.5pts - Hills My main bet is the highest scoring half pick in this one which cops quite a lot when KooTeePee are involved. In the nine games they have played this season the 2nd half has seen more goals six times. Their games have seen just four goals in the first half with eleven hitting the net after the break. FC Lahti 1st/2nd half scoring record is even but hopefully the influence of KTP will make this one a winner. I also noticed the price on KooTeePee was quite high and I can't understand why. Although FC Lahti have come down from the top division and are in great form; away from home they aren't that great. They have only won once and that was against the basement boys and KTP are a class above them. KTP have won all three at home this season all to nil. Oulu who sit second saw the aggressive way the home side play when they lost 2-0 so this should be tight which isn't reflected in the prices.

  18. Re: Copa America > Sunday 3rd July

He does very well playing these kind of bets, Sounding, so I wouldn't question it. Agree with both picks, as Brazil'll get the job done but I doubt by a big score, and Paraguay should avoid defeat, but I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't muster the victory.
Alright, calm down Winston. It was just a harmless question.
  19. Re: Copa America > Saturday 2nd July

Yeah' date=' I think he does have to play some part for the bet to win. Either as sub, or starting eleven. Worth checking the T & C's of the individual bookmaker though because they may specify a particular period of time as a minimum he has to play for.[/quote'] Thanks pal. I tried looking earlier but couldn't find anything so gave up. Apparently I'm told he has to start in order for it to stand.
  20. Re: Copa America > Saturday 2nd July Argentina v Bolivia – Higuain Not To Score @ 2.00 – Unibet 6pts As I said yesterday, the Argentinian XI for the Bolivia game is; Romero, Zanetti, Burdisso, G. Milito, Rojo, Banega, Mascherano, Cambiasso, Lavezzi, Messi, Tevez. Therefore this bet has massive value. Higuain was in favour with the national side at the tail end of 2010 but has since found himself out of favour. Bar the three starters (above) he also finds himself below Di Maria and Aguero in the attacking ranks and I’m not sure he will even get any minutes tonight. Even if he does I still don’t fancy him. In the recent friendly win over Albania he remained on the bench throughout. Not sure of the rules of this whether its void if he doesn’t take part or whatever but I’m all over it.
