  1. Re: Golf: European Tour 2011 - Open de France Matthew Zions/Joost Luiten/Alex Cejka - Joost Luiten @ 2.10 - Ladbrokes 2pts This group didn't make much damage at the top of the leaderboard in the first round with Luiten and Zions finishing level par whilst Cejka takes a 2 over par score into Friday morning's round. Luiten has very recently added a new putter into his bag which may take some getting used to. He made 3 birdies (3rd, 11th and 14th) today but then bogeyed the 2nd, 7th and 13th holes. He hit 12/14 fairways and found the GIR 14 times this afternoon, but he felt his putting let him down. Zions is an able challenger having had a decent round but I feel Luiten gets more birdie chances then he and Cejka who isn't having a great year by taking a quick glance at his stats. Luiten's 2011 GIR percentage of 74.17 is pretty impressive, he just needs to tame the new putter fairly quickly.

  2. Re: Golf: European Tour 2011 - Open de France

Thomas Bjorn/Romain Wattel/Mark Foster - Mark Foster @ 2.63 - Coral 2.5pts Thomas Bjorn has had a hard time of it recently. He withdrew from the Italian Open and then missed the cut in Munich last time out. Thomas has been a slow starter on tour this year and it usually takes a round before he can play some decent golf. He shot a 72 in his first round last year in this tournament but then improved in later rounds. Wattel is an unknown to me because I haven't seen him play but he misses a lot of cuts. 7 times out of 16 events this year which obviously doesn't bode well for this first round 3-ball. My pick here in Mark Foster has been in decent form this year. Missing only 2/13 cuts in 2011, coming close in Munich last week however bottling it in the last round. Foster also started well in Wales before crumbling. The course in France looks a little tricky and Foster's GIR percentage (67.63) should set him in good stead.
Bet won :ok Foster (-3), Bjorn (Par), Wattel (+6).

  4. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Lopez beat Henman at his final Wimbledon match' date=' hopefully he plays party pooper yet again. With all the hoo ha about Judy Murray tweeting about how good looking Lopez is he should just blow a kiss at Judy or something just to rattle Murray's cage. :p[/quote'] Surely that will make him play better? It would me for sure. Good work in here lads, some superb calls. Followed on the U35.5 games in the Murray match. :ok
  5. Re: Npower Championship > Ante-Post 2011-12 Season

I'm sure reports could easily link back to us signing Fabregas in a cut price deal :) tbh I'd rather see us snap up players with a bit of flair, rather than grafters that are ten a penny in this league. We had the lowest chance creation ratio in the league last season, but were often very hard to beat, so for me it's the creativity that needs looking at.
Very true. Still, its nice to see us acutally linked with decent players and splashing a little bit of cash for once.
  6. Re: Npower Championship > Ante-Post 2011-12 Season

40s is pure gold :loon We've signed David Norris, and are after another five or so players. We should have a fair amount of cash to splash about, but I wouldn't expect big money signings in respect of transfer fees, as there are plenty of frees floating about. The three clubs that came down from the prem let go something like fifty players or something....A Championship club doesn't really need to spend big these days, with foreign imports flooding the market at the very top, forcing the good English players down the ladder. What money we are getting from the sale of the club has already gone on our training ground, and will probably go toward facilities in the main.
David Norris and Jason Pearce have already signed but according to reports we have bid for Luke Varney (750k), Martin Paterson (1.5m) and Peter Whitingham (1.5m). This is encouraging news and the 14's about us gaining promotion is starting to look tasty. I like that we are signing players that work hard and in the case of Norris and Pearce, are leaders who captained their previous sides which was lacking last year.
  7. Re: Aalesund FK – Lillestrøm SK

Kick-off: 25/Jun 18:00 CET Pick: Aalesund FK Odds: 2,10 @ Bet365 Stake: 6/10 Aalesund impressed a lot this season. I put against them last week and I lost those bet becouse they did not lose against Brann away from home, it was not a game like I expected, Brann was poor. Aalesund was good at defence and midfield as usually and very weak at attack – as usually, forward players Sellin and Olsen looked terrible but Barrantes scored a goal and saved one point for his team deservedly. For this game Phillips and Morrison are both returning after four weeks from the Jamaican National Team, they are regular players, especially Phillips is very important attacking midfielder. It means that superb coach Kjetil Rekdal can use the best starting eleven, only a few reservist guys are injured or doubtful. Aalesund played cup game this midweek at home and won by convincing manner against Sarpsborg. The opponent was not bad during the first half but the second half was totally different, AFK dominated, created a lot of chances and finally won by 3-0 deservedly. Lillestrøm was good against Strømsgodset and won by 4-2 last week, Ujah scored all four goals. He and two other young but very talented players Nosa Igiebor and Sigurdarson constitute the excellent attacking section but Igiebor is out due to suspension, it is a big blow for LSK. Regular right midfielder Knudtzon is still out, injured. Anyway Lillestrøm did not impress me lately, it could be a hard clash for them. They played NM Cup match this midweek away from home and they were defeated against Rosenborg after penalties. That was a dramatic match, Rosenborg was slightly better and could have won before the extra time but missed a huge chance, the result was 1-1. Thereafter came extra time, RBK had a few chances but LSK took the lead then RBK equalized and won after penalties (4-1). Aalesund has serious advantages for this game. They use artificial grass at home while Lillestrøm uses natural grass. The hosts are playing two times at home during three days, the visitors are playing two away games which one took during 120 minutes. Aalesund welcome back two key players, Lillestrøm will miss one of best midfielders and I think the team’s form are also opposite, AFK should win this one. Odds are dropping but still represents great value.
Not much too add really but Ujah will also be missing I believe due to him signing for Mainz?
  8. Re: International Friendlies > 23-29 June

Paraguay v Chile - Over 2.25 @ 2.03 - Ladbrokes - 1pt This is basically just a gut feeling with the way Chile play. Obviously some firepower has been left on the bench but the last six games between the two have seen at least 2 goals with four going over the traditional 2.5 line. Paraguay seem to have the edge in the H2H stats however Chile's attacking approach could make for an interesting game. Small stakes due to it being a friendly.
0-0 FT. Dire, all that needs to be said. Glad I stuck to the smallest stake.

  10. Re: Sweden Allsvenskan 2011

Kalmar v GAIS - Kalmar AH (-0.5) @ 1.96 - Ladbrokes 2pts You can get even money with Victor/Unibet on Kalmar and it seems reasonable for a team in great from at home. In the six games they've played at home they have won five and drew the most recent game 0-0 with Gefle. Their home form has seen them climb to joint 3rd in the Allsvenskan with six other teams, including GAIS. GAIS also have some nice home form but its a different story on the road. Out of their six road games they have only beaten the bottom side in Halmstad, losing three and then drew the remaining two. I can't see any news on injuries from Kalmar and it will be a close game but the home side should just edge this one.
    2-1 FT :ok
  11. Re: Copa America 2011 - Outright Bets Don't judge teams by the friendlies they play before the/a tournament. They are usually lacking motivation which will be there once they have something to play for. They are usually arranged for fitness, bonding etc. I have been on holiday so I missed the Colombia game but I am hoping to watch it online somewhere.

  13. Re: Ireland - LOI Prem & 1st Div June 10-11 St Patrick's vs Derry City - Over 2.25 @ 1.84 - Ladbrokes 5pts A high scoring encounter could be on the cards tonight as the league’s two top scoring teams, St Patrick’s and Derry City go head to head. Daniel North (St Pats) and Eamon Zayed (Derry) are two of the most in form strikers in the league at present and could make this an interesting game for the neutral. Derry will be likely to give young Ryan McBride a start in the heart of defence with their first choice centre half, Shane McEleney, as well as his natural replacement in Emmett Friars both missing from the squad. St Pats also have two of their defenders injured in Pender and Kenna too. 6/8 homes for St Patrick's saw at least 2 goals, 5 of them went over the 2.5 line. Derry, apart from the last 2 away games, have netted 2+ goals in 5/7 aways. The two clubs have scored 56 league goals between them this season, so it should be an open game. Don't really understand the line so going in quite big, for me anyway.

  14. Re: U21 European Championship 2011 Top Goalscorer - Nicki Bille Nielsen E/W @ 11/1 - William Hill 2pts Although I missed the 14s I still feel this is excellent value. The 6ft Villarreal striker has netted 15 times in 21 apps for the U21's since 2007 and scored five goals in four appearances during the Toulon tournament (2010) becoming the top scorer and helping Denmark finish runners-up. In the recent friendly against Turkey U23 on the 6th of June Nicki grabbed himself a brace and also netted twice vs the Ukraine U23 side in March. This Denmark side has a couple of players from the side that impressed in the Toulon tournament in 2010 and I think they can surprise a few people here. Even if they don't win their semi-final (if they should progress from their group) then there's a possible third place play-off in which he can net a couple in I believe but could be wrong. Do Spain have a goalscorer? I don't think so myself. Bojan isn't that type of player so Nielsen has a great shout. Each way covers the T3 places with Hills :ok
