  1. Re: Norway > Tippeligaen > 2012

Stabaek v Haugesund: Haugesund @ 10/11 - generally available. Since last season these two sides have acted rather differently. Haugesund finished 6th and seem to be happy to push some more financial strength into the team to allow them to push on this season which has shown in their results. They've been able to keep their key players, both Ðurdic and Søderlund remain (25 goals combined.) Stabaek have a much, much smaller budget and it showed in the summer. Gunnarsson, Ondo, Ollé Ollé and Pálmason have all left the club as the bigger sides came flashing their cash. Their XI is pretty much all new and they seem to be struggling to gel. Seven straight losses root them to the bottom of the table with only a solitary point to show for their efforts. Haugesund are in much better form and have the players to hurt Stabaek. Away win for me.
    2-0, Haugesund. Winner!

  3. Re: League 1 - April 21

Tranmere vs Hartlepool - Tranmere @ EVS. These two sides have pretty much secured their status in League One so this match won't matter too much, well at first glance. Since Ronnie Moore has taken over at Prenton Park, he has seen his side win six matches, draw two and only lose two. Quite a feat considering their form at the turn of the year under Les Parry. He has yet to taste defeat at home, winning four and drawing the remaining one. They secured their status away at Walsall on Saturday, so it this could be a dead rubber, but I just can't see Ronnie Moore letting his side drop off and hand the points over. Same can't be said for Hartlepool. They've only won once in the last 10, scoring only four goals during that period. Tranmere took the three-points in the reverse fixture and I can see it happening again here.
Just to add. Teenagers Luke James and Ryan Noble will continue as the two strikers. Another teenager, Jack Baldwin, could also start for Hartlepool due to their injury problems. Ronnie Moore has said he is taking this game very seriously, despite giving a couple of the fringe players a chance, he still expects them to impress him.

  5. Re: England > Weekend > Barclays Premier League > 21-22 January Norwich vs Chelsea - Home Team Possession under 42.49% @ 1.85 - Expekt I like this line here. Chelsea have been struggling to get in front this season and when they do they can't protect leads, especially against teams who initially look to counter attack. This in turn allows Chelsea to dominate possession with their short passing style and push that possession line up. For example, Chelsea only took the lead away at Wolves a quarter into the second half and ended up having 65% possession of the ball. Even if Chelsea go ahead early doors, Norwich will score IMO and the Blues will have to go again. The inclusion of Romeu, who is suited to the Barcelona style of passing, will generally help towards this bet. Norwich (at home) have only played two of the top five as of yet and could only muster 36% possession vs Spurs and 38% vs Arsenal. The return fixture at Stamford Bridge saw Chelsea have 68% possession of the ball.

  6. Re: African Nations Cup 21st-22nd January Burkina Faso vs Angola - Burkina Faso DNB 10/11 @ Hills I'm not going to pretend and say I've seen these teams just lately, because I haven't but looking at recent results and key players, I'm siding with Faso in this one. They were a bit fortunate in qualifying as one of the teams pulled out but still won three of their four games, drawing the remaining one. They have a solid spine through their XI, Kone in defence, Pitroipa and Alain Traore further forward. These three all play in the French Ligue 1 and with Faso ever improving, I'll quite happily back them against Angola (who are actually a really decent side. I just think the extra quality of the trio of players mentioned above will prevail in the end). The pitches are in poor condition so I think having the draw cover is an essential because not a lot of good football can be played on these surfaces. Be lucky!

  7. Re: England > Weekend > Npower Football League Two > 16-17 December

Barnet vs Cheltenham - Both Teams To Score @ 3/4 - BlueSQ Cheltenham are full of beans at the moment and will fancy their chances of extending their winning run. However, Jack Butland was an integral piece of their squad and with him returning to Birmingham, they will now have Scott Brown in between the posts. Of the eight games he started this season he only kept one clean sheet. Barnet's home games produce an influx of goals and I fancy there to be a fair few tonight. No Penn for Cheltenham but Duffy returns to their starting XI.
    In before half time. :ok

  9. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 15th December

Atletico Madrid vs Rennes - Over 3.5 @ 16/5 - Stan James Gregorio Manzano is under pressure to get a result out of this match and I think the home side will come out firing on all cylinders. They were three down against Espanyol after 20 minutes at the weekend, and only a performance here will go someway to restoring a little bit of faith in this team. Their last seven domestic games have seen a total of 29 goals which is quite a gut load. Rennes will rest the majority of their first team but the boys coming in to replace them have been told to use this game as an opportunity to impress Frédéric Antonetti. They are desperate for a win here, even though it means absolutely nothing in terms of the Europa League, but I just can't see them travelling to Spain and sitting back so I'm expecting an open game tonight. Atleti don't have to win to progress but I don't think a team of their stature and in their current circumstances, will play out a draw. Rennes are looking to impress and have absolutely nothing to lose. 16/5 is pretty big in my opinion.
    3-1 FT POW!! :ok

  11. Re: England > Weekend > Npower Football League One > 10th December Managed to back Charlton at 10/11 on Monday but I'd still be happy to take on the current odds. Walsall were outplayed by Dagenham at the weekend which is embarrassing because the Daggers are woeful. Dean Smith has been spouting about his team putting in the extra hours at training but I don't think his players are good enough to stop a Charlton team too good for the League they're in.

  12. Re: England > FA Cup 2nd Round > 2-4 December

Glad I read this about MK Dons' wholesale changes - I was all over them at 4/5 but will not be taking it anymore. I did like Walsall at 13/10 at Dag & Red but home side are improving having pushed Southend all the way recently
Montano, Cunnington & Geohaghan all unavailable for the Daggers. Spillane the only loan player given permission to play. I've taken the 6/4 on Walsall. Granted, their not pulling up tree's this season, but they have got a little bit of quality in their side. Andy Halliday will give them some creativity.
  13. Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Nov 29

Grimsby vs Stockport - Grimsby @ EVS - Stan James/Coral After having the weight of the world on their shoulders on Saturday, post Kettering debacle, Grimsby take on Stockport at Blundell Park under somewhat normal circumstances. I generally don't like backing a team back-to-back but Jim Gannon's comments caught my eye in the Non-League Paper. He is said to have been furious with his County team after going down to a solitary goal against ten men Southport; blaming keeper Mark Halstead in the process. Gannon described his team as 'social loafers' and a lot of the County fans agree with him. Grimsby have come into a bit of form as of late and their record at home is pretty sound. Five wins, four defeats and one draw; with three of the defeats against teams in the top six. Jim Gannon's still got a little bit of work to do to get Stockport back on track and I think Grimsby will capitalise here.
7-0 :ok Gannon's rant on Saturday obviously didn't work.
