  1. Re: betting shop rules, help needed

My local Corlas opens from 08.30 am to 9.30 at night - WHY? what service are they providing to be open that long. They are just hoping that the Chinese guy comes in & sits on the machine playing roulette with his takeaway takings !
We get a few regulars in doing the Virtual and Coral plus, plus obviously the punters who nip in before work to put there L15's on whilst at work. Or like wise a few lads come in off night shifts etc I can see bookies being open 24hours a day soon, I really can. 3am 2 cashiers red-eyed half asleep waiting for the Honk Kong 4.30 results:lol most of the people I work with are very competent at there jobs, Id say 50% can manually settle a L15 or L31 but I do know of some *cough managers that what ever it says on the till screen then thats gospel. They wouldn't know how to settle a query IF the translation was wrong. Luckily I can hold my hand up and say that most of the time I do things outside of my sphere to accommodate the punters that come in. As Bowles said if you get just the first 4 results for the Grand National I know who came 5th 6th etc and if anyone asks "where did mine come " I can say sorry mate yeah it fell or it ran well but finished 8th. Its not rocket science its just taking an interest in the job you do. Yeah sometimes its shite but I think you'll find workers with a certain interest in there job are better than the dumb-ass robots that just read off a screen. Thats why at our shop we are always getting told its the best coral in town, we have a good bunch of workers (5) and we have a good foundation of regulars who dont take the piss so sometimes we go that extra bit to keep them happy.
  2. Re: Folkstone 10/04/08 3.15 Stamford Blue The rank outsider who's shown nothing since July last year but bare with me. Last years renewel the favourite didnt come anywhere.

    Draw TRAINER Age Wgt JOCKEY SP OR TS RPR 1 Forest Dane 2 Mrs N Smith 7 8-7 James Doyle(3) 11/1 77 75 88+ 2 ¾ Lucayos 6 Mrs H Sweeting 4 8-9 Richard Kingscote(3) 6/1 79 75 87 3 ¾ Mujood 3 Eve Johnson Houghton 4 9-4 b Stephen Carson 10/1 85 79 91
    and the year before that:

as you can see older horses have run well in this race so it could pay to stick with the 'more mature' runners. using the stats from the other post regarding stall positions also give SB another tick in his box for today. LTO I dont think he took to the AW after running well on the turf all this time so Im willing to forgive his last run 8 days ago on his season re-apperance. At the end of last season he ran a fair few races which might have caught up withhim and had little help from the handicapper also. But this time last year he ran consistantly well and Im willing to side with him today at what looks like a decent price of 20/1. Am I mad ? perhaps but I know Stamford Blue is better than the bare form figures.
  3. Re: Folkstone 10/04/08 great work again billy:ok Party in the Park 2.40 Folkstone According to the stats runners with a weights of 9-2 or less have a good record in 3yo Handicap's here so it could pay to look at the bottom of the card. Party in the Park was in decent form early last year with his best result being in a class 2 2nd behind Achilles of Troy over 5f at HQ. He was 5length's off the winner that day but stayed on well and maybe this 6f will suit him better. He tailed off at the end of last season but should go well today being fresh if he can over come the poor draw. 4/1 I think Whiteoak Lady (8/1) could sneak a place from stall 3.

    Six furlongs: 3-5-11 (14 ran-good to firm—5/1*-8/1-7/1) 5-3-1 (14 ran-good to firm—50/1-4/1**-4/1**) 1-14-11 (13 ran-good—7/2-16/1-11/10*) 6-5-7 (10 ran-good—13/2-12/1-33/1) 3-11-1 (12 ran-good to soft—9/2-14/1-11/1) 1-7-3 (10 ran-good to firm—13/8**-13/8**-7/1) 5-7-1 (10 ran-good to firm—7/1-9/1-5/1) 8-7-1 (13 ran-good to soft—6/1-11/4-7/4*) 1-2-4 (12 ran-good to firm—4/1*-9/1-16/1) 14-13-4 (14 ran-good to firm—20/1-20/1-8/1)
  4. Re: Champions League - April 9th I can't see anything bar a Utd win tonight and a clean sheet. They made 2 mistakes at Boro and got punished for it but Im sure Sir Alex will have them up for this despite looking like an easy 2nd leg. Handicap Manchester United -1goal @ 6/4 with JAXX Barca however I just have a feeling they might fook up tonight but go through 2-1. I think Schalke could spring a surprise, they have nothing to lose and could cause problems with Barca missing a couple of key players and in their current form of 1 league win in 6 matches dont warrant odds on. Draw 10/3 BlueSq

  5. Re: Bath | Wednesday 9th April Great write up Billy :clap Our Kes 3.40 Bath CD winner with a good solid form line on the AW but he's 2lb down than when winning at Wolv over 1m1f and 5lb lower than when 2nd at kempton over 1m4f. The drop in trip could and I think Queally will give it a more positive ride than Whitworth did at Lingfield over todays trip when he was short of room. Big chance a good price Early Price: 8/1 Digital 4.40 Bath One of my favourite horses and judging by his good 2nd at Kempton LTO theres still a win left in this old boy yet. That 2nd was his first run of the season and was running on well, O'Briens claimer will aid taking the 7lbs off him as he runs off the same mark as he did at Kempton. Early Price: 3/1 E/W double

  6. Re: Grand National 2008 :lol lasted about 10 mins. I finished at 5.30 while the shop closed at 6.30. It was about 7 when the rest of the 'team':lol join us by then I was well on my way to getting pissed. I did have this old dear with far too much money than sense, she said Im not too sure what to do or what to back so asked my opinion whilst filling out the easy slip she made a comment about my aftershave and then thanked me for my help. I asked her what she was staking, I thought she'd put a couple of quid on a few. She ended up doing £20 each way on two :lol and a few £2 bets on 10 others. If she was 75 younger I might have slipped her the tongue. I give her the wiiner also so may be she can leave her estate to me in her will:lol Tomorrow night me and my mate the manager are playing football against the area managers from Manchester. Nothing better than kicking shit out of stuck up fooking manc bosses who think they are better than us.

  7. Re: Grand National 2008

If he does squeeze in then I'll include him in my top 6. Currently just done my top 5 which inc's Cornish Rebel @ 200/1 :lol All the trends fit and the same was said of Philson Run last year @ 150/1. I do like the look of Nauton Brook @ 66/1 and when the others are thrown out we might see some big prices get chopped. From a win perspective I like the look of Comply or Die and Point Barrow.
I backed comply or die and got £145 back but the wife did a £3.00 bet and texted me just before the off saying if King Johns castle wins she stands to win £1300 but as it didnt she picked up £45. Had a really busy day but throughly enjoyed the whole day, even when Im explaining 50p e/w bets to people who have no idea how to do a bet and just come in with screwed up pieces of paper with names written down One bloke came in and put a £1.00 on EVERY runner :lol
  8. Re: The Ultimate GN bet yeah well I might as well go for the tricast seeing as ALL 5 of mine are coming in 1-5. fook it £10 SFC and £10 C/tc. sit back and let the money roll in :lol ps, shut shop at 6.30 then out on the piss:beer with the first few rounds from mr coral.:beer

  9. Please do not try this at home, I am a professional and ive been trained in the art of shit bets. For the ultimate bet you need balls of steel. whats the bet? I hear you say. the dreaded C/FC Grand National bet :rollin 21,24,30,33,39 C/fc might pay around 1000/1. In the bookies no-one can hear you scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Re: Aintree 04/04

Oedipe 4.55 Aintree (EACH WAY) Only 6 year old but State Of Play won this race as a 6 year old in 2006. Trends suggest 8 yr olds have a good record in this race but stats in races such as this can seem biased: Tomorrows race: 6 yr olds - 1 runner 7 yr olds - 4 runners 8 yr olds - 6 runners 9yr olds - 5 runners 10yr olds - 2 runners In this race the 8 yr old stat has 6 chances of being successful compared to the one and only 6 yr old Oedipe. Weight carried to victory has varied from 10-0 to 11-10 over the last 10 years. It has only had 6 career runs and only two in this country and those runs have seen it finish 1-2-2-2-1 and 13th last time out but that was after being off the track since December 2006. Its debut in this country saw it win a class 3 race by 14l but still had more in hand and really looked worth following but got injured. Would have needed a run last time out and has any level of improvement poissible. Obvious doubts about the trip but the class 3 race was over 2m5f and may get the extra distance without trouble. Only has to carry 10-4 around here, Mick Fitzgerald on board and could be a stunning each way bet at around 16-1.
:clap Awesome stuff phil cheers for that just picked up £120-00 from my L15 which inc my 50/1. just done £100 on the GN for tomoz for Free :ok :nana

20080404Ain154523.png 3.45 Aintree Pak Jack win - I Hear Thunder e/w - Time To Sell e/w Pak Jack's CV round here reads well and with the stats from previous races applied he fits the trends well. Top Jockey from a top yard he could land this quite easily. 10.1 I Hear Thunder and Time To Sell could also run big races at a big price having previously run over course which is so important. I Hear Thunder has won off this mark before over CD but he is hit and miss but he's 50/1 and Time To Sell was 3rd in the John Smiths Novice Handicap Chase over CD and he's only up 6lb but again he's 50/1
    I hear Thunder 4th @ 40/1. I put it in my L15 @ 50/1 :)
  12. Re: Aintree 04/04

20080404Ain143502.png Gone To Lunch 2.35 Aintree Sticking with AP for the second race I think Gone To Lunch could run a big race at a decent price. He runs off the same mark as he did at Cheltenham when 6L's behind Nenuphar Collonges but that was on GS ground. On good and good/firm ground his form reads 211112 over this sort of trip so we might just see an improved run today and at 9/1 I'll be a player. Early Price: 9/1
Fooking napped on the line, drifted left nr the line 2nd
  13. Re: Aintree 04/04 20080404Ain140001.png Albertas Run 2.00 Aintree. 6 wins from 7 starts under AP McCoy and the way he travelled and jumped at Cheltenham in the Royal & Sun Alliance will make him the one to beat. The drying ground will suit and I can't see any of the rivals turning the tables on him. 20080404Ain143502.png Gone To Lunch 2.35 Aintree Sticking with AP for the second race I think Gone To Lunch could run a big race at a decent price. The way he demolished Voy Pur Ustedes suggests this extended trip will well be in his range. Ruby Walsh said a good stiff 2m4f will suit and again with the good ground I can't see him getting beat but he's 1/3. Early Price: 1/3 20080404Ain154523.png 3.45 Aintree Pak Jack win - I Hear Thunder e/w - Time To Sell e/w Pak Jack's CV round here reads well and with the stats from previous races applied he fits the trends well. 14. Re: Grand National 2008 We've got abloke who comes into our shop and he does afew bet ie L15 etc but if a horse/dog runs with Oscar in his name he backs it regardless. Only cus his dog is called Oscar and they go out all day everyday. All the best with Simon :ok its a shame theres not a horse called "Pissed up Rovers fan" or id be all over it :lol

4.20 MAGIC SKY ~ TRAMANTANO Horse's with a low weight do well in this ( first 3 home last year carried 10-2) and ages in double figures dont do well. close but no cigar :sad bottom 2 weights came in.
  17. Re: Grand National 2008 interesting that you have come up with 2 french horses? Not one to put you off but I didnt come up with those after the filters. Snowy morning may a touch too high in the weights I think people will steam into Comply or Die now after Pipes/Murphy result today. GL :hope

  18. Re: Kauto Star I think the GC or the preps before the GC has taken its toll, I feel gutted for connections tbh as we all love KS but I think paul should put him away now give him a break and lets hope we see him for next years GC @ 7/1 :eek:eek

  19. Re: Any Free bet codes for Aintree? BGBet offer: GRAND NATIONAL OFFER... One of England's most prestigious horse race and one of the world’s greatest sporting spectacles, the Grand Nation is upon us. The four and a half mile course, with over 30 fences, is arguably the toughest horse race anywhere in the world. So BGbet will be offering 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4-5 on the Grand National at Aintree on Saturday.

  20. Re: Any Free bet codes for Aintree?

Not a free bet as such but VC are giving money back in the form of a free bet if your horse falls or unseats or is brought down in the national up to a value of £50. I think its a maximum of £50 per HORSE per person so if you have 3 £50 bets and all fall then its 3 x £50 free bets Thats a great deal for the national... :ok The offer also applies to ALL races on THURSDAY and FRIDAY
*1. Maximum refund is £50 per person per runner. £300 per person in total. 2. Also applies to Unseated Rider, Brought Down, Refused or Slipped Up. 3. Applies to bets placed from Monday 31st March. Does not apply to bets placed before 31st March. 4. Applies to win only and each way bets. 5.
