  1. Re: Betting on more than one horse per race I often back a couple in the same race to return the same stake if either one wins. In the GN I back 5 of my picks and regardless of which won Id get back £xxx.xx. So far its work obviously you've to nail the winner but thats where the confidence comes into it. In a big 16 handicap I'll probably back 3 using a dutching calc. http://www.oddschecker.com/betting-tools/dutching-calculator.html

  2. Re: Turkey v Czech Rep (Sunday)

turkey.gif Turkey v Czech Republic czech.gif Geneva, June 15 1945 BST Things couldn’t be tighter between Turkey and the Czech Republic as the line up on Sunday night, in what is effectively a play-off for a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008. Switzerland are out, while Portugal are through as Group A winners, and either Turkey or the Czech Republic will join them. Both teams have three points, the same goal difference, and number of goals scored, so according to article 7.08 of tournament regualtions and for the first time in European Championship history, a penalty shoot-out will decide whether Turkey or the Czech Republic advance through to the last eight of the competition should they draw their decisive Group A clash in Geneva this evening. The Czechs have a remarkable 100 per cent record in their three shootouts at major championships to date winning every one of them, scoring all 20 kicks. Turkey, conversely, have never experienced a single nerve-wracking sudden-death contest. Turkey coach Fatih Terim bucked the trend for secrecy and surprise at the European Championship yesterday by naming his lineup for the crucial Group A match against the Czech Republic a day early. Terim named his lineup in a news conference on Saturday, with the biggest move being the inclusion of striker Semih Senturk alongside Nihat Kahveci. Nihat played as a lone forward in the first two games against Portugal and Switzerland, but Turkey only created enough opportunities when Senturk came from the bench for the second half of the Swiss match. The 25-year-old Senturk will be partner Nihat tonight in an apparent attempt to provide more of a threat to a strong Czech defence. Turkey struggled under a torrential downpour Wednesday against Switzerland in Basel, but a second-half comeback revitalized the team, whose confidence was at a low after a 2-0 opening Group A defeat against Portugal. Turkey practised playing in the rain on Friday. Czech Rep to Qualify From Tie @ 1.61 Skybet - Paddypower - Bluesq

  3. Re: Greece v Russia (Saturday) Russia for me, part of me going with the market as it usually wrong but I thin'k the Commies to take over midfield and get a early goal and sit back, Greece didnt fill me confidence in the last game against a half decent Swedish team. Iknow Russia got battered but by the time this kicks off Spain should frank the form. SPAIN/RUSSIA double for me.:)

  4. Re: Holland v France (Friday)

The whole of Holland is on a high after a 3 goal hammering of the World Champions, evoking memories of great Dutch teams from the past. The Oranje are now in a very much alive in the Group of Death and heading the Euro 2008 Group C with 3 points. They take on France in Berne tonight, who have less to shout about, after a dreary 0-0 draw with Romania. If Les Bleus fail to win here, they could need to beat Italy in their final game, which would be an unhealthy position. Raymond Domenech is likely to make changes in a bid to find a cutting edge, while Marco Van Basten is likely to make no changes to his victorious side.

Whilst France can't play any worse then they did against Italy, Holland are still my pick to get all 3 points tonight. Holland win @ 7/4 with Paddypower

  5. Re: Czech Rep v Portugal (Wednesday)

czech.gif Czech v Portugal portugal.gif The betting for Euro 2008 Group A is little changed after the first round of fixtures followed form. Portugal were pre-tournament favourites to top Group A after Felipe Scolari’s side beat Turkey 2-0 in their opening game Scolari names an unchanged Portugal team to play the Czech Republic today. Either country can secure their place in the knockout stages with a win in the Group A showdown in Geneva. Both teams already have three points, and one foot in the knock-out stages, but the Portuguese were the more impressive of the sides, and are favourites with most firms. Tempted to get on the Overs here, most of the decent sides now are playing a bit more open so we could see goals here. 2-1 to Portugal Over 2.5 goals @ 6/4 Bet365 GL

  6. Re: Switzerland v Turkey (Wednesday) Bet365 are doing DRAW/TURKEY @ 6/1 which I think is huge. Both teams need to get something so for the first half they could stand back a little and try to nick a goal near to full time. The Swiss have lost captain and playmaker, Alexander Frei, which is a huge blow and I just think Turkey can 'battle' harder. Should be an explosive game after these 2 sides met inthe WC.

  7. Re: Holland v Italy (Monday)

but bookies are offering 3.00 for over 2.5 goals! that imo is too great value to pass up and i will root for Toni, Sneijder, Ruud, and co. to come through and find the net.
:clap only 1 more to find the net. Just looking back at the comments, like I said, this could be a tight game 0-0 1-0 to ?? :lol Fooking hell Id have never thought Italy could be 2 down at half time.
  8. Re: Romania v France (Monday) Romania wont qualify playing like that, hoping to get a goal from a set piece and France wont qualify playing like they did. Italy and Holland much be thinking its theres for the taking.( the group stages I mean ) I dont think the winner of the Euros will come from this group and it wont be Germany either

  9. Re: Austria v Croatia (Sunday)

I think Croatia could win the whole tourney, only been beaten once in 11 matches they are a very solid outfit. But....this game is going to be a very tough test, host nations do very well in competitions so dont write off Austria to turn a 'big team' over at some point. Like the Germany game I think this could well be 1-0 @ 11/2 and for a big of fun Im doing 1-0 double Germany/Croatia GL.

  11. Re: Euro 2008 Banter Thread Its more open that any other competition, you've got your so called big guns, then the teams like Croatia/Czech which on there day can turn any team over and then you've got your host nations which statistically do well in major competitions. Korea did well in the WC. With so many players from all the teams playing in the prem and liga/serie A etc it really is very open.
