But they lost to Costa Rica 3-2 in a game which could have granted them the 3rd place at the very leas and now have an impossible mission in beating Spain to get to the next round. The Europeans looked good in their 4-1 win over Costa Rica, with Ecuador things were a bit more difficult since the South Americans defend a bit better but a red card for their opponents in the 2nd half simplified things and the Spanish players found the back of the net twice afterwards. Things stand simple - Australia need to win, Spain will play casual. They were in the same position of not needing anything from the last group game at Euro U19 - 2010 and they still won 3-0 over Italy who desperately needed points. There will be no gifts here and the bench players which will be used here by Spain will look to score as much as they can. Australians as well. So good reasons for over. -

But took Spain over 2.5 instead. actually Costa Rica is already qualified from 3rd place at least with 3 points New Zealand is 3rd placed with 2 points - Panama with 1 point --- so Costa Rica is playing for 2nd place and not for qualifying. Of course if Australia wins, and Ecuador wins they could finish 4th - but don't believe in miracles tonight. -

Sport Football (Chile) Event Nublense - Universidad de Chile Selection Over 2.5 goals Strength 10/10 Date 06/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 1.85 Reasoning Jorge Sampaoli took over Universidad de Chile at the start of this year, and with him at helm the club managed to win the Apertura 2011 thanks to a thriller double-leg encounter against their rivals Universidad Catolica. They've had the best attack, very prolific players up-front in Rivarola, Canales or Vargas. I like their passing game and expect them to score here even more than once. They were undefeated on the road in Apertura and had 25-11 G.A. in just 9 games. Nublense finished last in Apertura. Main reason for this has been a really poor away record with just 3 points from 8 games. At home they did earn a couple more points but when they played against strong teams like O'Higgins, Union Espanola or Colo Colo they conceded at least 3 goals and the games were highy entertaining. Universidad de Chile won 3-1 at home in the Apertura. They've started Clausura with a solid 3-0 win over La Serena. Nublense also won 1-0 at Santiago Wanderers, but have every reason to fear this game as they'l have an impossible task in keeping a clean sheet, and I do expect them to get exposed at the back in what should be a normal day at the office for the Apertura champions. Odds are good and I'm willing to take the over here. -

They only bought players in key positions where they suffered last season. William Kvist came from Copenhagen and the central midfielder is already in the first line-up. Thomas Hajnal was loaned for the 2nd part of last season here at Stuttgart from Dortmund, now he is on a permanent move. And a 3rd midfielder Ibrahima Traore was transferred from Augsburg. All 3 took some part in the 2-1 win in the Cup against Wehen. It could have been a tricky game against the 3rd league team but Stuttgart deal with it well in the end. For Schalke their manager Ralf Raignick made a couple of changes. Neuer left for Bayern, his replacement is young goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall. Also a couple of important players returned from loans. Holtby impressed last season at Mainz and already retained a place in the first line-up here. Jermaine Jones and Moravek also returned from loans. Fuchs and Marica were brought as well. In the Cup Schalke dismantled Eintracht Trier 11-1. Holtby, Gavranovic and Raul scored a double, Huntelaar 4 goals and Papadopoulos once. I really like the potential up-front for both teams. It is quite obvious that since Raignick took over from Magath he made this team more prolific up-front while Labbadia has always an offensive minded manager. I'll take a shot on the over. -

One question regarding this game, which hopefully somebody can answer. If Portugal draw, what scenario will leave them finishing second? Simply a Uruguay win? Which is more favourable for Portugal? To finish first or second?

If New Zealand(2pts.) wins - Portugal could finish 3rd if Uruguay also wins If Portugal draws - Uruguay(2 pts. 1-1 G.A.) needs a win by 2 goals to get 1st place. If Uruguay wins by 1 goal, it will probably come to which team scored more. Curently Portugal has 1, Uruguay also 1. First Tchacha scored a ridiculous own-goal giving New Zealand an undeserved point, while Portugal took advantage of 2 consecutive defensive blunders scored and conserved a 1-0 lead till the end. Both games played so far were dominated by Cameroon in terms of possesion and shot number. But truth is the finishing skills have bit missing a bit, their only goal coming after a missed penalty, same player scored only from the rebound. However this is the team which won over Egypt in their continental competition and lost in extra-time against Nigeria in the Final. So it's not as weak as odds on current game suggest. Uruguay... I hate their style of play. They have a great player in Luna. He scores from free-kicks, he has fantastic long range passes and we'll hear from him in the future. But they are a team ultra-defensive, which looks to somehow take a 1-0 lead and conserve till the end. It failed with Portugal, 0-0. It failed with New Zealand 1-1. I'm pretty sure Cameroon will come on top in terms of possession, they have the physical advantage. At the same time I'm worried about possible counters from Uruguay. But I'll take a shot on Cameroon for a couple of reasons. They don't deserve to be underdogs here, even if Uruguay takes the lead, they usually ain't able to make it bigger and Cameroon will have the oportunity to draw level. Double chance on Cameroon, Uruguay could in the end be happy with a draw if score in Portugal - New Zealand is convenient. -

Defender Gomboa was sold to Copenhagen and I'm not sure if he will start here. On the plus side center defender Piiroja returns in the team. They are currently on 9th place, and offensive midfielder Elyounoussi is their topscorer with 7 goals. Stabaek just sold their top-goalscorer Gunnarson to Valerenga. They hold the best away record in the league, and are the most overish when playing on the road. They scored in every single game played away from home but conceded at the same time. Even without Gunnarson I see them scoring here, as their midfield is always able of creating good scoring chances, and Gunnarson's main role was finishing them. They usually exploit the wings very well. H2H Stabaek has an advantage over Fredrikstad. This spring Stabaek won 3-1 at home, and I really don't believe that Fredrikstad will be able to hold a clean sheet here. Because of this they will need to look for goals themselves and since both teams will like to win this game an over 2.5 is very likely. -

Champions Dortmund will make their debut at home against Hamburger SV, and of course a full stadium is expected. They lost just one important player this summer, midfielder Nuri Sahin. At the same time they didn't invest much in new players, a couple of youngsters joined the club. Defender Lowe from Chemnitz, and midfielders Perisic(Club Brugge) and Gundogan(Nurnberg) being the most notable signings. So their coach Klopp chose stability for this 2nd season. Striker Barrios is out injured for this game, Lewandowski will take his place. Best new for Dortmund this summer is definitly the return from injury of Kagawa. Hamburger SV changed considerably this summer. Their coach Michael Oenning has been at the club since March 14 this year. With him at the helm they could only win 1 out of the remaining 8 games last season, including a 1-1 draw at home with Dortmund. I was talking about changes at Hamburger this summer... Van Nistelrooy, Ze Roberto, Mathijsen, Torun, Choupo-Mating, Pitroipa, Collin Benjamin and Frank Rost are no longer in the squad. These 8 players were key components of the team last season, and their replacements are questionable. Except for Skjelbred from Rosenborg they didn't really bring in well known players. For example Mancienne, Tore and Bruma came from Chelsea Reserves and find themselves now places in the firs line-up. It's clear that the management intend to take on Dortmund's approach and raise youngster of their own. South Korean Son - 19, defender Diekmeier promoted from Hamburger II - 21, and the reserves from last season have a better chance of getting in the 1st team. But unless a miracle happens this team looks to finish in the 2nd half this season, and their first official game so far ending in a 2-1 win over low division club Oldenburg proves it. Dortmund should win here, and their mentality once taking the lead is to increase it to a safe margin. Last season Dortund won this fixture 2-0. Hamburger SV is much poorer right now, so again home win is expected and the handicap to be covered, altough will cover a bit. -

Pretty much non of these players are first team regulars at their clubs. They lack creativity and drew both games played so far 0-0 with North Korea and Argentina. With these kind of performances I don't see them getting more than a draw here as well against a team of Mexico's calibre. The Mexican's play free flowing football. They like keeping possesion, keeping the ball down and using speedy charges to create havoc in their opponent's half. Unlike the English players, the Mexicans do get minutes under their belt at their own club, they are cocky and will look to outrun England here to secure their place in the next round. There's a difference in quality between these 2 sides. I see the Mexicans in control of this match, and with the 1st chance of winning it. Still covering the draw. -

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thurs 4 August guys... about dinamo... they sucked in the 1st leg because varazdin slowly got in the game, they became better organized. From the moment when Dinamo scored the 2nd goal Varazdin built a fortress in their own half. As a result Dinamo build-up resumed to long balls, which the tall and strong Croats dealt with ease. Also during that same period Dinamo was unable to make their wing plays count, and the penalty was actually a dive. Varazdin was all over Dinamo at the end of the 1st half, and they stopped imediately after drawing level. In my opinion if they kept on pressing and attacking like that in the 2nd half they could have gotten the win. Also Dinamo has an unstable defense and Croats have good finishing skills, powerfull hitting, unlike the Romanians who like to finish technically and miss like idiots(see the penalty kick). Only plus that I can see is that Dinamo is able to organize its defense better on the road, but at the same time Varazdin has a better record at home.

The tie is pretty much over, but KR Reykjavik still need to make a long trip from Iceland to Georgia to play this return leg. At the same time they are in full season and are fighting for a very important title at home, and therefore sent a mixed team here from which the main players are missing. Players like Finnbogason or Gudjonsson aren't even in the squad. Another factor here will prove the difference in temperature between the 2 countries. In Reykjavik its mostly raining these days, and temperatures don't exceed 20C. In Georgia it's hot as hell with temperature around 30C. Also there is a difference in class between these 2 sides quite obvious in the first leg. Dinamo Tbilisi has been performing decently in Europe during the last couple of season. So far they won both home games played in Europa League by covering the handicap. Given the current squad of KR Reykjavik I am pretty sure they can do it again. -

However Nigeria crushed Guatemala 5-0 in their opening game. It is known the fact that African teams tend to impress more at Youth level competitions. It seems to be the case with Nigeria here. They didn't stop from scoring at anytime and I expect the same type of mentality in this game as well. Croatia is fairly lucky to have made it at this tournament. I see this because of their 2-0 loss against Saudi Arabia in the opening game. They had their chances as well, but their finishing skills were rather poor. This team finished second in a group with Italy, Portugal and Spain at Euro 2010, with the decisive game won 5-0 over Portugal. They lost in the semis to France 2-1. From my point of view Croatia better start scoring goals or they will find themselves out of the competition most likely in case of another heavy beating here. Nigeria showed their potential against Guatemala who have a lot of pacey players but not good enough in the physical game. Now Croatia has the physical game, but rather slow pace. So expect Nigeria to score here, and I trust them to help us win the over. -

Sport Football (Mexico) Event Club America - Estudiantes Tecos Selection Over 2.5 goals Strength 10/10 Date 04/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Unibet @ 1.75 Reasoning Here's an interesting detail for you. The last 10 games between these 2 clubs have all ended over 2.5 goals. This spring in the Clausura America beat Tecos 3-1 on the road. I saw the game, both teams created chances in the 1st half, Tecos took theirs, while America responded in the 2nd half with 3 quick goals. Whenever these 2 teams meet they both score and the games end up high scoring. It has been the case with the last 2 visits of Tecos here. Last season America won 4-1 here, while 2 seasons ago it was a highly entertaining 3-3 draw. Keeper Ochoa left America this summer, so did winger Pardo. On the plus side Benitez signed, he was once the striker of Birmingham, played a full season there. Tecos have two 2-1 defeats already in the Apertura. Club America have 4 points but conceded in both games. Given the trend between these 2 club u gotta favour the over. -

Sport Football (Champions League) Event Dinamo Zagreb - HJK Helsinki Selection Over 2.5 goals Strength 10/10 Date 03/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Blue Square @ 1.91 Reasoning Dinamo takes a 2-1 lead into this game. HJK took the lead in Finland through Ring but found themselves level just minutes after because of an unlucky owngoal from Rafinha. Since than Dinamo imposed their style of play more and looked like the team in control as they eventually scored a 2nd through Sammir and now have a big lead going into this 2nd leg. HJK is the top team in Finland, they are leading the table by a big imargin and had an impressive run of straight wins this summer. They are offensive minded, some players will be making a step forward after this game and will leave the club unless they somehow win the tie. Therefore their coach already said they will be going all out for the win, and I believe him. The players will have the same mentality, what else could they lose if they try to win it and qualify? Dinamo Zagreb will be even more offensive at home than they were last week. They will find spaces with more ease. They are clearly the better team, will score here, but if they aren't careful they could get themselves into serious trouble as HJK already proved in the 1st leg they have more than enough to break their defense and score. My favorite over of the day here. -

Litex had to produce a good result in the 1st leg and failed, they controlled most of the game, had plenty of shots but made a couple of mistakes in the defense, Wisla took their chances, Litex didn't and the Polish champs won 2-1. Now in this return leg Litex are big underdogs and all the pressure is on Wisla to get the result and win. But bookies give odds like the 1st result doesn't matter, and it does especially if u saw the game, u would know that Litex deserve more credit going into this 2nd leg. So... in the end, a draw takes Wisla through, a 1-0 loss takes Wisla through. They don't need a win, and if Litex scores a goal here they will be really shaking. Last season Wisla wasn't exactly dominant in their home games as they've let a couple of surprises in. So my idea is... it's nice being the underdog, and Litex should take profit from it. -

Sport Football (Champions League) Event Vaslui - Twente Selection 1X Strength 10/10 Date 03/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Boylesports @ 1.80 Reasoning Vaslui played well in Holland. In the 1st half they hit the post and had some dangerous runs into the Twente half especially through Sanmartean. Twente scored at its first chance, a penalty out of nowhere and so the half ended 1-0 for them but not before Vaslui had a goal dissalowed. In the 2nd half Vaslui missed some good chances at the start, Twente got another lucky goal, and in the end of the game Twente completetly dominated as Vaslui seemed to suffer a bit physically. So my point of view is that the 2-0 result flatters Twente. Since than Twente won the Super Cup 2-1 with Ajax. Ruiz played 45 minutes. The Dutch announced no fans will come to support the team in Romania, and they pretty much think the tie is wrapped. I don't expect Ruiz to play here, why risk? Chadli and Bajrami are sidelined while Landzaat is back. This game takes place at Piatra-Neamt, not far from Vaslui. The Romanians aren't actually that bad, and they don't deserve to be underestimated like this. Twente doesn't need the win, I'm not even sure they want it. -

Sport Football (Norway) Event Brann - Viking Selection Over 3 goals Strength 10/10 Date 03/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.06 Reasoning Brann is starting to build a nice run of results, and if they keep it up they may even get a shot at the title. There's no doubt about it, this team has great potential up-front with players like Guastavino(6 goals), Mjelde(5) or striker Ojo(10). They can break any defence but at the same time there are some question marks regarding their defense as they've conceded no less than 29 goals. 4 of their last 5 games have ended over 2.5 while 3 of them over 4.5 . For this game Brann has all its players ready to go, and expect them to score here. Viking started the season rather awfully, but slowly got their game going. It was actually a 3-0 home win over Brann which helped them a lot. Goals came from Saeternes. They also have Nevland in their ranks. No important missings for them either. Last season the match ended in a 3-3 draw with the over already won till half time, while at home Viking won 4-0. I see no problems for Brann to score goals here, at the same time Viking will need to score themselves if they want something out of this game. Over 2.5 a minimum, over 3 for better value. -

Sport Football (Iceland) Event Breidablik - FH Hafnarfjordur Selection Breidablik(+0.5)AH (Asian-handicap) Strength 10/10 Date 03/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 1.70 Reasoning Breidablik played pretty well in the Champions League double leg against Rosenborg. They lost the game in Norway 5-0 but the score was tight for most of the game, while at home they even managed to win 2-0. They play in a 4-5-1 formation, and I liked the way the attack and their finishing skills. FH Hafnarfjordur played in the Europa League against Nacional, they lost 3-1 agg. Last season these 2 clubs thought for the title, now KR is the main candidate and these 2 will only be fighting for an Europa League place at best. Since last season Breidablik only kept its great home record, and they usually score 2 goals at least here no matter the opponent. Best example being their game with RBK. HF is also more of a home team. So odds of 1.70 for Breidablik not to lose here gotta have some value. -

Sport Football (Champions League) Event Sturm Graz - Zestafoni Selection Sturm Graz Strength 10/10 Date 03/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price 5Dimes @ 1.53 Reasoning I was honestly expecting odds between 1.15-1.30 here but it seems the bookies had a good impression on Zestafoni after the 1st leg and still rate them high. The Georgians defeated Moldavia champions Dacia Chisinau in the previous round. They won 3-0 at home, but they suffered a big change when it came to the away game. They were completely dominated by Dacia, lost 2-0, and they could have even lost the tie if the Moldavians were more efficient up-front. Zestafoni created fairly little at the other end. And last season when they were playing in Europa League it was same story. They lost to Dukla from Slovakia 1-0 on the road, 1-0 at Karpaty and couldn't even beat a team from San Marino, Faetano - matche ended 0-0. Sturm Graz is a solid Austrian team. Altough they didn't really started the season well they were able to defeat Hungarian champions Fehervar in the previous round. They won 2-0 at home, and lost 3-2 on the road. Zestafoni is bound to make mistakes in defence here, and I can't see any other result than a win for the Austrians.

4-0 actually, and don't see them stopping
