Re: UEFA Champions League > Wednesday 7th December Manchester UTD have performed rather poorly by their standards in this group stage. Draws with Basel and Benfica at home, in 2 games where they conceded 5 goals. They used mixed squads against Otelul but still got maximum points, and another draw at Benfica. Right now they can only hope for the second place since Benfica are topping the group and play with minnows Otelul at home. To get that second place they need just a point here in Switzerland, but I doubt Sir Alex will be pleased to defend a point here, and in his mind the first place must be given a shot. Basel have played better on the road in this group stage, at home they were more vulnerable. I see a win for United here, and bookies are generous with odds. Manchester @1.70

Re: UEFA Champions League > Tuesday 6th December I believe the bookies have misjudged this game. It is true that Apoel are top of the group with 10 points, unbeaten in 5 games, while Shakthar is winless in 5 games, bottom of the group with just 2 points, but truth is Shakthar has by far a better squad of players, and I like to think the reason of their unfortunate run in Champions League is the inexperience of their young, but promising players. For example in Ukraine, they are demolishing everything, even kicked out Dynamo Kiev from the Cup, 3-2 win in Kiev. And with teams like Kharkov, Vorskla also making a good run in Europe this season it's really hard to believe Apoel is so much better than Shakthar that they deserve to be favorites here. So from my point of view, 3.30 odds for Shakthar away at Nicosia is a christmas present. Shakthar @3.30 Sportingbet

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 1st December Schalke 04 - Steaua Bucharest Schalke 04 with a win here will qualify from the group stage. So far they've done well in this group, recording an easy win at Larnaka, a 3-1 win at home over Maccabi and two nil draws. They have Huntelaar and Raul up-front, hopefully Marica will stay on the bench. Jurado, Baumjohann and Holtby will look to control the midfield and set-up attacks, also supported by the 2 full-backs Hoger and Fuchs. Steaua has no link between midfield and attack. They will come to play with 3 defensive midfielders, all 3 being useless when it comes to attacking or scoring goals. On paper they will have 3 strikers, but it won't matter since they will barelly touch the ball in this game. Problems in defense, with Iliev-Geraldo being error-prone at the back, Martinovici is not a right defender, while Latovlevici is poor defending. Re: Germany - Bundesliga - 18-20 November Bayern Munich - Borussia Dortmund Bayern meets Dortmund as both teams fight to claim the title this year. While Dortmund have been dissapointing in Europe, they have kept pace with Bayern in the league, and a win here would see them close the gap to just 2 points. Last season they did so, but since than Bayern have improved considerably, especially in the defense. At the same time they are scoring goals for fun, and Gomez is at his best in terms of efficiency. Dortmund are also in good scoring mood, having scored in their last 8 Bundesliga game, while recording 14 goals in their last 3 home games. We have a game between 2 of the most prolific teams in Germany, and like always when they play at Bayern goals are expected, 3 minimum. Pick: Over 3 goals @2.23 188bet

Re: Romania Liga 1 2011/12 Dinamo - Vointa Sibiu Dinamo is the top team in Romania this season, they have a good atmosphere in the team, the strikers are scoring like crazy and the defenders are doing their job much better than in previous seasons. Vointa Sibiu is a team which lack big names, they are a defending team, which creates fairly little chances on the road, and given the good record of Dinamo in front of their own fans this season, just 1 goal conceded thus far, they will have problems in scoring tonight. On the other hand Dinamo usually creates decent chances to score, and a goal in the first half will seal the deal and bring us winnings on the handicap as well. Dinamo(-1.5)AH @1.93 Pinnacle

Re: England - Barclays Premier League - Nov 19 - 21 Norwich - Arsenal Over 4.5 goals @5.00 - 5/10 Arsenal are in excellent form at the moment, the summer signings like Gervinho or Santos are clicking well, they are scoring for fun lately, and are hot favorites to win this trip at Norwich as well, and given a few facts I certainly expect them to. We remember last season that Arsenal was much more prolific away than at home, a reason for this was their excellent counter-attacking skills, and Norwich is the type of team, which when a goal down at home can be at the end of an ugly beating against a team of Arsenal's level at the moment. At the same time the newly promoted Norwich showed guts in their matches this season, as they made Manchester UTD sweat, as well as earning a point on Anfield. And defensive fragile Arsenal looks unlikely to hold a clean sheet at Norwich. With both teams scoring, Arsenal winning it, and I expect them to do it by more than 1 goal margin, taking over 4.5 at 5.00 odds isn't that unlikely, is it?

Everytime they won at home, they did it in high scoring goals, minimum 4. Their topgoalscorer is midfielder Missiroli, alongside striker Ragusa. Nocerina is newly promoted, but so far haven't made a bad impression. They've been rather prolific both at home and away. Their striker Castaldo is their top scorer. In all of their road trips played this season there were at least 2 goals, and have also played a high scoring game with Genoa in the Cup, 4-3. Given the fact that both teams have a good scoring record, another over 3.5 goals here is possible.

Wellington will try to park the bus, but even though it may take a while Brisbane should be able to find the back of the net and secure 3 points here. -

Their games are usually very entertaining, as they've recorded 4 over games from their 6 away games this season, and twice their games even ended in over 4.5. As for Barcelona B, everyone knows they are playing so that the young one, like Deulofeu get experience. A lot of talent, and they do play offensive minded. Though lately their games having been quite free scoring, for today they have an opponent willing to play football, and since both teams have quality up-front but a leaky defense I suggest taking goals here. -

Shakthar is in desperate need of points after claiming just 2 points in the first 3 rounds, and I'm not sure even a draw is enough here right now. The Ukrainians were a bit unlucky in their draws at home 1-1 with Apoel and 2-2 with Zenit. They simply missed too much and made silly mistakes in defense. They also lost 2-1 at Porto in a game where they had 2 red cards and a penalty against them, but my point is all 3 games played so far ended in both teams scoring. Zenit lost 2-1 at Apoel, won 3-1 with Porto and drew 2-2 with Shakthar. All 3 games ended overish, and both teams scoring. It's rather simple, Shakthar needs the win, their defense is mediocre at best. Zenit has excellent options up-front, but at the same time will have a hard time keeping a clean sheet. So over 2.5 at 1.87 is worth taking. I wouldn't have given odds bigger than 1.60 here. -

They've already defeated Otelul and Concordia 4-0 on the road, as well as Sportul 6-1 at home. Brasov is the type of team which defends a lot in away games, but at home they do tend to open more, especially if they concede an early goal, from which point on CFR Cluj would have plenty more chances to score. Also CFR Cluj has a rather shakey defense, most of the times their goalkeeper saved them, but in their latest game, a 2-1 win at home over Ceahlaul he was saved a couple of times by the post. Last season the game ended 2-2, not much has changed, CFR is still shakey in defense, but better up front, so chances are we shall see a couple of goals here as well. -

Unfortunately for them, the title was won by Molde this season, but a 2nd place finish would still be reason to cheer for if they can get it. And the first step is winning this home fixture against another team with a lot to play for, as Fredrikstad needs a couple more points to be safe from relegation. For this game Fredrikstad has some problems with injuries, as they also miss first choice keeper. On the other hand Valerenga doesn't have any absences. Well, the last 5 games between these sides have all ended with both teams scoring, and 4 of those games with over 2.5 goals, while non had more than 4 goals in it. Considering the fact that Valerenga should win it, and Fredrikstad desperately needs points here, 3 goals should be an ok bet as odds are decent as well. -

This is because Mioveni signed many players this summer who were no longer desired at other Romanian teams, and they haven't shown much so far. Also their defense has been really poor especially in away games. In the contrast, Concordia Chiajna kept mainly the same squad of players with which they promoted, and even in their losses they looked pretty dodgy. Also Concordia had some tough opponents at home, recording losses to Vaslui or CFR Cluj. Petrolul can also be rated as a good away team, while Sportul was a bit lucky because Concordia received an early sending off. Dacia remain the poorest travelling team in the Romanian First Division, and Concordia has what it takes to record a win here. -

They already lost twice at home, 2-1 to CSKA Sofia and 1-0 to Botev Vratsa, but in their last game they won 2-1 at Minyor Pernik so they come with decent morale into this game. Their opponents are last year's champions Litex. They've been having problems in their away games this season, as they've conceded 6 goals in 4 games. 2 of thos games also ended over 3.5 goals, 2-2 at Minyor Pernik and 3-2 loss at Levski Sofia. But they did win 2-0 at Slavia Sofia. They play pretty open football as we could see in their games with Wisla Krakow in the Champions League, but sometimes their defenders make silly mistakes. Last season this game ended 3-1 for Litex, and I believe we could see over 3.5 goals won again with both teams getting on the scoresheet. -

Otherwise they only scored 1 other goal at home, in their latest 4-1 defeat to Dnipro, and the other 4 home games ended in 3 1-0 losses and nil draw. Chernomorets Odessa also has problems scoring in away games. 5 goals scored, but also a good defense, just 7 conceded in 6 road trips. Except for a 3-1 defeat at Vorskla all of those games ended under 2.5. Last season Obolon won both fixtures 1-0, and given the goal drought from both teams I believe under 2 is a good choice. -

They have 5 wins and 1 loss, but most of those wins were rather easy, and easily covered the handicap spread. Univ. de Concepcion is looking like the perfect opponent for Catolica here. They are winless on the road, where they only collected 1 point from 6 games. They also only scored 3 goals. Catolica usually has a strong start to the game, and is able to settle the 3 points till half time, while Concepcion lost their last 4 games played at Catolica, and 3 of those times they lost by more than 1 goal. So I'll try Catolica (-1.5)AH. -

This year, they also visited Club America and it ended in a cracking game, which they lost 5-4. The return leg also ended in a lot of goals, a 2-2 draw in Puebla. Club America is having a dissapointing Apertura by their standards, only 17th in the standings. They've kept their usual goalscoring rate, but their defense has been leaking goals as they've conceded goals in every home game played so far, and this game looks to continue the trend. If this game will have 3 goals in it, it's more likely that it will cover the over 3.5 bet as well, so it's worth to take these better odds. -

They are rather boring in their away games which they often draw, but at home they always score, and if Astra fail to keep focus on the task a handicap win will come rather easy here for the hosts. -

It's true that Sportul are winless at home and are in the relegation zone, but they aren't as poor as odds suggest. They are actually playing nice attacking football, and in a good day they can beat anyone in this league. Pretty much all the pressure here is on Pandurii who are more of a home team actually. They play offensive football on the road as well but that could actually help Sportul, who has more problems breaking an overloaded defense and enjoys counters. It was same situation last season as well when these 2 teams met. Pandurii took the lead, Sportul came back from behind and won it 2-1. Home win. -

For example last season they even won at Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid, while in this start of the season they've had some entertaining road trips. 4-3 loss at Bets, 3-0 loss at Osasuna or a 2-2 draw at Villareal. But Atletico Madrid has been conceding fairly few goals this season when it comes to home games, and when they won they destroyed their opponents, 4-0 wins over Santander and Gijon. Last season Atletico won both fixtures by 1-0, so another home win looks to be on the cards. -

Sport Football (Spain) Event Deportivo La Coruna - Girona Selection Over 3.5 goals Strength 10/10 Date 30/10/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 3.25 Reasoning This 2 teams also met in the cup, and it was a 5-1 win for Deportivo, with Girona taking the lead and missing several other good opportunities before Deportive knocked in 5 goals in the 2nd half, credit going to Valeron who came on as a substitute and Lassad. Right now Depor is in the middle of the Segunda. And if their promotion ambitions need to have some trueth in it, they need to win this game and climb up a bit. They certainly have the offensive potential, altough I don't always like the tactics their coach uses. Sometimes they are simply too defensive when they could wrap up the game easier. And their defense is not exactly the best either as we could see Gimnastic almost winning on El Riazor in a game which ended 2-2. Girona plays pretty open football, and the Cup game shows we can expect plenty of goals. -

They are unbeaten for 3 games, and have one of the best defenses in the league having conceded just 5 goals in the first 8 rounds, from which just 1 came at home, in the 1-0 loss over Juventus. For this game they are missing defender Terzi who is suspended. Chievo is in poor shape, having failed to score in their last 4 league games. In contrast to Siena who have only played 3 home games, Chievo played 5 and earned 2 wins over Genoa and Napoli. However on the road they showed very little as they lost 2-1 at Parma, 1-0 at Inter and drew 0-0 with bottom of the table Cesena. This game doesn't really promises to be very entertaining with both teams being pretty inefficient in defense lately, while neither is very offensive minded. Sport Football (Italy) Event Lecce - Novara Selection Lecce Strength 10/10 Date 30/10/2011 Bookmaker/Price Betsafe @ 2.25 Reasoning Lecce badly needs all 3 points here to climb up the table. So far they are winless at home this season, despite playing some good football at times. Cagliari, Udinese, Atalanta and Milan all punished Lecce, but new promoted Novara still have a lot to learn as they've shown fairly little in their away games so far this season, only earning 1 points in 4 outtings, and it came after being 2-0 down at Chievo. Otherwise they posed fairly little problems to Cagliari, Atalanta or Udinese. Novara seem to make too many mistakes in defense lately, and if Lecce can get it going early on and turn their superiority into goals they should be able to keep the lead till the end as Novara is no Milan. On the road they've managed to win at Parma 2-1, and Lecce 2-1. Drew 2-2 at Genoa and lost 3-1 at Roma. But one thing all those teams have in common is a rather shakey defense. Bologna also has a disastruos record at home as they've lost all 3 games played and conceding 7 goals in the process. But wins at Novara and Chievo recently certainly boosted their morale, as well as a draw at Juventus. Lecce, Inter and Lazio all took the scalp of Bologna, but Atalanta has shown more weakness in terms of defending, and if Bologna are able to defend at their best they can emerge with all 3 points here. At the same time Fiorentina also showed that they open up more at home, and are more likely to concede. They also look to increase their lead more often than they do on the road. Having left a 1-0 lead slip twice already this season, and Genoa being prolific lately, it's unlikely if Fiorentina open the score the game will end 1-0. So a more high scoring Fiorentina at home, against a high scoring Genoa team in general should make for an entertaining game. -

Sport Football (England - Prem) Event Tottenham - QPR Selection Tottenham(-2) (Asian-handicap) Strength 10/10 Date 30/10/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 2.85 Reasoning QPR managed a couple of shock results since earning promotion. The latest being a 1-0 win at home over Chelsea, as well as wins on the road, 1-0 at Everton and 3-0 at Wolves. But they are also the type of team which on a bad day can get a hammering, 0-4 loss at home with Bolton, 6-0 at Fulham, 2-0 at Wigan(conceding 2 goals from Wigan is a hammering itself). Tottenham is getting into top form. Back to back wins over Arsenal 2-1 and Liverpool 4-0 at home certainly improved morale as the team is unbeaten now for the last 6 rounds, also winning 5 of those games. Just got a feeling this could well be another hammering day for QPR.

Re: Romania Liga 1 2011/12 Gaz Metan - Ceahlaul Gaz Metan is a top team which will be focussed on winning this game after a bad run. Their cup game definetly gave them a boost in terms of morale, and truth is they do not belong in the relegation fight, and we will see them climb higher up the table soon enough. Ceahlaul is really nothing special, will come to park the bus and strike on counters. They usually defend in numbers and try scoring on counters. Gaz Metan is the type of team though which can break any defense, and if they can get the lead at home they rarely let it go, and go on increasing it. Odds of 1.95 on home win have value in them, I personally would have considered 1.60 fair. Same goes for handicap, like I said, when Gaz Metan wins at home its often by more than a 1 goal margin.
