  1. Re: Tuesday 2:05 > Arkle Chase

Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase(Grade 1) (1) 2m This is a race full of quality with former Champion Hurdle winner Rock On Ruby, two-time Festival winner Champagne Fever, three-time course winner Dodging Bullets and Grade 1 winner Trifolium who was 3rd in the Supreme Novice Hurdle two years ago. I have taken a chance on Grandouet to show us what he is made of, I think he can be clumsy at times but when he is on song he is brilliant and he has ideal conditions tomorrow. I am also going to wager a very small each-way bet on Western Warhorse who looks a bit overpriced at 50/1 for the in-form David Pipe yard. He has only had 5 runs to date and won in gutsy fashion last time out, this is tougher but he could run a good race. Grandouet - 1 Point each-way @ 12/1 Paddy Power Western Warhorse - 0.5 Points each-way @ 50/1 Bet Victor Read Full Preview @ http://www.horse-racing.org/the-arkle-chase-preview-grandouet-has-a-lot-of-class-and-looks-each-way-value
    Amazing!! :ok :clap

7.00 Kempton - Alnoomaas 1pt @ 10/1 Bet365 I was interested in Alnoomaas last time out when midfield in a 7f handicap here but think he looks an even better proposition back over 6f tomorrow. His C&D record reads 1-1-1-2 with the most recent 2nd off a mark of 74. Therefore running from a mark of 65 and from a better draw than last time out he looks a very solid bet at around 10/1 in my opinion. He also drops in grade to a class 6 race (albeit a strong one) so considering he has been performing with credit of late in marginally better company I expect a big run. Also worth noting he was very well backed in his penultimate run so I can see him cashing in off this mark before long. He can blow his chances by pulling hard and doesn't look the easiest of rides but if anyone is going to get a decent tune out of him Luke Morris will. Blinkers applied for the first time hopefully that will help him settle better too.
Looks like there may have been a gamble or something on this - fav now, gone down to around 2/1!!
  3. Re: BBOTD > Tuesday March 4th

Sou 4.40 - Sir Geoffrey - ew at 12/1 bog bet365 One of several CD winners in the field who are in decent form.........he won on his last visit here and returns after a couple of runs on polytrack Looks reasonably handicapped, 3 lbs above his last win, a race he won by a length Plum draw in 1 though to be fair most of the fancied ones are drawn low CD winner, low draw, front runner, reasonably handicapped..........that's what you want over 5F here and he's the biggest price of the ones that fit the bill
    Lovely! :ok
  4. Re: BBOTD > Saturday February 15th

Bit shocked to see so much money for him... I thought he would go off shorter than 50's but didn't think he would go off around 12/1. Interesting to see how he runs now :hope
Managed to just about get on 65 with £2 last nite. It was also 12 for a place, now it's 4. Was asking for 14, didn't get it.
  5. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Anyone remember this race in 2005?

In December 2005 at Leopardstown racecourse near Dublin, in the two-mile, one furlong Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase eventually won by Hi Cloy, the Irish jockey Roger Loughran riding 11-4 shot Central House appears to have ridden the perfect race, delighting those who had placed horse racing bets on him. Central House jumps the last fence just in front of four other horses (including double Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Moscow Flyer) all of whom are still in with a shout. But on the run-in, Roger and Central House appear to have timed their run to the line to absolute perfection. Thanks to some very strong riding from Roger, Central House just clings on to ‘win’ by a neck from Hi Cloy, Fota Island and Moscow Flyer – or at least that’s what he thinks he’s done. Sadly, Roger had mistaken an upright bundle of birch for the finishing line 'lollipop' and eased up on his mount around 70 yards from the line, believing he had won. He then compounded his error by standing up in his irons and extravagantly celebrating his close-run victory by punching the air with whip in hand - even though the jockeys either side of him were driving for the finish. Unfortunately Roger, then just 25, had only just turned professional mainly due to the strength of his riding on Central House – with whom he was looking for a third straight win. It was going to be his first big winner as a pro.

Had £25 on Central House, was so annoyed at the time, but it's quite funny looking back now! :lol

Kempton 7:10 The Michael Blake trained Able Dash looks an interesting runner in this contest having his first run for the yard. The breeding line alone is a cause to stand up and look at this horse as he is a half brother to Veiled who won at Royal Ascot. He was an expensive purchase having cost 95,000 Guineas and although he has shown absolutely nothing in three starts to date, I always look out for a horse that has been given three runs and is then put straight into a low grade handicap. A lot of trainers do this to make sure they get a nice low mark so that they can make a nice payday out of it. Blake's horses are in very good shape at the moment, he has been getting winners over the jumps and Kingscote is a good jockey booking. Able Dash WIN @ 10/1 Bet365
    Nice winner! :ok
  7. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Photo finishes in the first 3 Kelso races today.. Am surprised that the first 2 winners were available at higher prices than the two that came second, after the races on Betfair, when i, at least, could clearly see who the winners were.. Had no idea in the third race though...

4.30 Meydan - Variety Club 1pt win @ 5/2 Bet365 I don't know too much about South African racing but I think it's fair to say this fellow is pretty smart. He was thought good enough to make his debut in a grade 1 event where he finished 2nd. Since that race he has won every race he has contested which has included 3 grade 1's. He has been doing his winning mostly over 1m with 1 win coming over 7f. He goes well fresh so the break isn't a worry. By the manner of his wins, I would suggest he should prove very tough to beat in this. The only stumbling block could prove to be the surface, but I will take my chances that he handles it.
16.30 Meydan: Variety Club @ 2/1 Bet365 The champ is back! Had to wait a while but now he finally is due to run after his long break which was down to quarantine regulations. He's my favourite horse in training (and in my little profile picture here^^) and a good run today should bring him right on for World Cup night and then for a campaign in Europe afterwards. Variety Club is the South Africa's reigning horse of the year, a multiple Grade 1 winner and I would think the best miler in training at the moment. He usually likes to go from the front, getting the pole position always thanks to phenomenal gate speed, even if he is drawn widest, and has the ability to find another gear when it matters, which is rather unusual for a front-runner. It's reported that he is extremely well and has trained strongly with one of Mike De Kock's Group 2 winners during the week, so all set and go I suppose. Concern is the tapeta surface today obviously. Absolutely no man's land. On turf you would have to think he would beat this lot by a county mile, on tapeta it's not so clear. But if he is fit enough for his first outing after his long break then he must have every chance to win. Just a close look into the form book shows how good he is, having beaten subsequent Grade 1 winners in his last three starts, in the likes of Martial Eagle (Durban July) or wonder mare Beach Beauty. So fingers crossed he takes well to the surface and can show the world a glimpse of his power today.
    Great shout, great horse!! :ok

3.15 Muss Blue Kascade ew 14/1 betvictor Mania has won last two on board for Sandy Thompson here and 3/6 overall at musselburgh and team up with this who he's ridden few times before. btn 15L lto but dropped 2lbs for that and 3 of those behind have won since so level looks ok and now 6lbs below opening handicap mark , has maybe dropped enough to be competitive. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Clonmel Off! Musselburgh 3:15 Blue Kascade was backed off the boards at Kelso two runs back and could only manage 7th place but the fact he was so heavily punted must mean the yard clearly feel he has plenty of ability. He did not run all that bad at Carlisle last time out when he was 4th to Moufatango and he has dropped two pounds in the weights to a mark of 90 as a result. This is still a very lightly raced former Irish Point winner so you would think he can only improve on what he has shown to date. Ryan Mania is the hottest jockey in the UK at the moment as he has won 3 and placed on 2 of his last 6 rides. Blue Kascade WIN @ 14/1 Boylesports
Nice one guys!! :ok Was waiting for 14s on Betfair when it was 12s earlier. It ended up going down to around 6 before the off, so decided to hold out for the price to go back to 10/12s in-running, but didn't, so no bet..! :\
  10. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 11th Feb

Shocking fall!! :sadHope they are all ok.
    According to Racing Post:
Mark Coumbe has been taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham following his fall from Gebayl, and was conscious when loaded in the ambulance. Gebayl was also reported to be okay, having bled. There will be a delay to racing at Southwell... William Carson also fell from Roxy Lane, though horse and jockey appear unharmed.
    :)
  11. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 11th Feb

Southwell 1:30 I think Roxy Lane looks a big and backable price to land this first at Southwell tomorrow. This horse ran in a good Nottingham maiden on turf on debut last June and followed that up with a good 4th at 66/1 in a good Windsor maiden. The winner of that race Close At Hand of the John Gosden yard has gone on to run well in Listed company since and this is a Class 6 at Southwell tomorrow. This mare had a bit of money for her last time out on all-weather debut at Kempton and although she finished completely tailed off she had a bad draw in 11 and is better drawn tomorrow. They are also dropping her down in trip to 6 furlongs and if she can progress on some of her turf form of last year she could be able to land this. Roxy Lane WIN @ 16/1 Bet365
My main bet of the day, shame what happened with Roxy Lane! :wall Hope everyone's ok though!
  12. Re: BBOTD - Friday 31st January

7.00 Wolverhampton - Green Special win @ 33/1 Bet365 I really think that this horse is worth a punt at this price. It's form on the AW is 32232 and one of those seconds was over course and distance so it could potentially be in with a big chance here. However, it hasn't run on the AW since the start of May 2013. It has been running on the turf both on the flat and over hurdles and it hasn't really run a good race on the turf and that is probably why it is at this price. If it can run back to its old AW form then I really think that this horse could win this.
Shame it didn't win, great tipping though, got 14/1 for a place, cheers! :ok
