  1. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

I agree with you there, there are a lot of people that really don't have a clue what they are doing in betting shops. In fact, I know a bunch of lads that used walk into a Hacketts bookmakers a few years back on a Sunday, if there was an early Kick off at 12:45 or so they would walk in at 2:30pm at the end of the game and back the first goalscorer after he had scored, they even pulled off 20 quid on a 33/1 fulham defender one day. :lol It went on for weeks, they made a killing but then head office found out and the girl was sacked. I have a friend (female) who also works in a betting shop, nice girl, but thick as a plank. She was accepting Irish placepots even though the bookies here don't take placepots on Irish meetings. A lot of the staff know zilch about sport, are terrible at math, not good enough in many shops. 8am opening time? Jeez, all our bookmakers open at 10am earliest here
Around 10 years ago, on a Saturday, you could wait nearly half an hour after the German Bundesliga matches started (14.30) to see if any teams were winning by a decent margin & walk into a shop & back them (before 15.00)..! The staff assumed the matches started at the same time as the Premier League!!
  2. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 18th August

Thirsk 4.45: Haajes @ 10/1 bet365 e/w thanks I was going to go for Go Go Green but I could not bring myself to shout Go Go Green in front of the TV so my pick is: Haajes....from Paul Midgley yard the 10yo gets its turn now and then and with Jim Goldie having Go Go Green in race his stable jockey Graham Lee is on Haajes which is a bit of surprise to me and reason to go for Haajes, Haajes has won in high 70 mark on turf and has won off 85 on AW in the past is a distance winner but has tumbled down ratings to 68 today and has won on these conditions
That's very unlucky, getting beat in a photo finish by your usual trainer's horse..! I ended up backing Haajes aswell, only for the win though! You must be reeling a little, but least you got a place!
  3. Re: Nap Of The Day > Saturday August 16th 2.05 - Newbury Carry On Deryck - Win - 12/1 @ Bet365 Mate said this horse was hampared on it's debut race (6f, 2 weeks ago), but finished like a train - slamming a 1/4 fav @ 25/1. Better opposition now.. Step up in trip to 7f should suit though & i reckon it would be rude not to have a bet at that big a price!

suit though it's debut finished like a trainon his debut & slammed 1/4fav @ 25/1

  4. Re: Nap Of The Day - Saturday August 9th 4.45 - Newmarket Dream Spirit - Win - 5/1 @ Bet365 C&D winner on it's debut, beating a 2/11 fav by 3/4l - the 3rd was 14l back! All 4 runners look like they have some kind of claim, but this Haggas 3 year old also has a handy bottom weight of 8-11, as opposed to 9-9 topweight (with a 5lb claimer)..

  5. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 7th Aug 2014

Haydock 4.40 Methaaly (33/1 bet365 bog) 0.50 points e/w Yes he is 4lb out of the handicap and an 11 year old, but he is also a multiple class 4 winner running in a class 5, so I think its worth and each way punt. That said come 4.45 today I will either look very astute or very silly for napping an 11 year old
    Good shout, nearly won! :ok
  6. Re: Nap of the Day - Saturday 2nd Aug 2014 4.25 - Goodwood Heatstroke - E/W - 25/1 @ SkyBet Unraced Galileo colt, has two Group2 entries, so must be highly regarded & thought the price would be alot smaller, so looks like a value e/w bet. Stablemate Dutch Conection who has already shown some promise on the racetrack & also has big race entries, looks the danger..
