  1. Re: Tennis : Nottingham Open/Ordina Open And guess what, another one comes along :lol J Marray to beat A Mackin in straight sets (2.4 on Betfair) Not seen Marray play since last years Grass Court Season but at last years Queen's he had a close match against Hewitt where he had a few set points in the first set but blew his chance away and lost in straight sets. I thought on that performance he was a young brit to follow and he played quite well at Wimbledon where he lost to Karol Beck in five sets and Beck beat Henman two weeks before that at Queens. Today I think Murray will have too much class for Mackin and should win in straight sets.

  3. Re: Royal ascot thoughts

Starts tuesday, the best there is on show, dont think it will be the same at York, but thats out of our hands! Looking at Tuesday, Queen Anne stakes, I will be interested in a stand out each way bet on Soviet Song. It's record in G1 races last year was 2-1-1-1 & the horse is clearly our top miler. Rakti the favourite will be very short & has only ran over the mile twice in its career but won both. Soviet is priced up at 13/2 with Stanleybet at present & had 8 runs last season finishing out of places only once on final re-appearance when 6th. I hope the horse is declared as i think it will give Rakti a massive challenge. I still see Rakti as the best 10f horse in training & maybe SS could just beat it for speed. Whatever happens if it remains that price, it should be a bet for nothing
Bowles, Soviet Song runs on Wednesday in the Group 2 Windsor Forest Stakes for Fillies & Miles over 1m. I disagree with what you say, yes she is the top miler in the FILLIES & MARES Division but Rakti is our best miler overall in my opinion. Norse Dancer 20-1 in the Princes Of Wales is a massive each-way price, likes the course and was 2nd in last years Juddmonte International over Course and Distance and usually runs into a place in these top 10 furlong races. Not a great price for one of the biggest handicaps of the season but Eden Rock around 4-1 is likely to be hard to beat in the Royal Hunt Cup as he won in a canter last time from over a year off and I think he'll make a mockery in the handicap and is properly Group Class. Vinnie Roe, my favourite stayer can go one better in the Gold Cup than in 2002, better than ever last season, won the Irish St Leger very easily and is good price at best 11-2. Dubawi can outclass his stable companion Sharmadal in the St James Palace Stakes, I think the best performance by a miler this season was his win in the Irish 2000 Guiness, he was awesome that day and won easily, forget his run in the English 2000 Guiness as he hated the ground and if the ground is Good he will be very hard to beat and 10-3 is a big price with Bet365.
  4. Re: Fun Placepots Hi Kevin, just a thought but why don't you just do one placepot a day with 64 lines (2 horses in each race) with a 20p stake costing £12.80. This is what I usually do and if both horses are placed in a race, your stake doubles so for example if both your selections are placed in Race 1 your stake doubles to 40p. Recently at Goodwood I did the above method, the placepot to a £1 stake was £88 but I got a brillant return of £260 as a result of both my horses being placed in certain races to a 20p stake.

  7. 2.05: Personally I think trip and ground are negatives for the favourite Rohaani who would properly before slightly better ground and a longer distance and he is one to oppose here. I like CASHIER who shaped well over two furlongs shorter than todays at Newmarket in April where he was 2nd (3rd has won since) he was staying on strongly at the end having been last 2f from home. Since he won a Weak maiden easily and the extra two furlongs should see him to better effect. Frankie's on board. 2.35: A tight race but ROODEYE gets the call having decent two year old form last year and ran promisingly at Newmarket on his 2nd outing this season over a trip shorter than his best and conditions wern't ideal, ran a personal best last time, but had a terrible draw and if not would have won. Step up in trip should help. 3.10: POLAR MAGIC could be a blot in the handicap, he won quite well at Southwell despite the slow pace and he finds it hard to pick up his full accelation off a muddling pace, that day he took time to get going in full swing and came with a late challenge and nailed the leader close home. Last time however, you could say it was slight jockey error as Murtagh had the horse too far back and was ridden quite comfortably and came flying late on just for the post to come too soon and just miss out, however todays stronger pace should suit in this competitive handicap and hopefully will be ridden much closer to the pace. 3.45: PIKE BISHOP looked a very useful sort on his two outings last season, beat the useful Beckermet quite cosily on his last outing. Hasn't been seen on a racecourse for 360 days due to an injury, but the trainer says this is potentially his best sprinter and on the gallops at home he has been beating Avonbridge who is a Group Race Sprinter. 4.15: Don't fancy anything quite strongly in this race as its a very tight contest, but CANADIAN DANEHILL, an improving sort who won last time at Newmarket and with the champion jockey on board, has fair claims. 4.50: TENSTILE, who you can forget his last run due to the soft ground but his outing before that he put in a much improved display from last season, at Kempton last month over this distance when romping home and won quite easily, more improvement should come from this improving sort and 10-1 (Forecast) is a mad price for a horse with a big chance and could easily win with a reproduction of that win. 5.20: Top The Charts is likely to find one or two too good again but I think its a two horse race between likely improvers and two horses who shaped well on their debut runs last time in Haddaaf and Jalwada should fight out the finish and put them in a nice Reverse Forecast.

  8. Re: Tennis : Gerry Webber Open/Stella Artois Championship Well after Henmans defeat, I see it hard why he should be a contender at Wimbledon, if you judge Henman and Murray with Johansson then arguably Murray is our best player now as he took the Swede to a 3rd set yesterday and possibly would have beat him if not for the injury. If both Henman and Murray met today, then I think Murray would have won. I reckon Murray has a big chance of winning Nottingham next week and who knows he could be anything at Wimbledon. Henman is not the force he was on grass as a couple of years ago when he reached the final of Queens a few times and arguably if not for the rain in 2001, he would have won Wimbledon.
