  1. Re: ATP Dubai/Las Vegas/Acapulco 27th Feb - 5th Mar I have plumped for Monfilis:

    SportTennis
    EventLas Vegas
    SelectionMonfilis 1/2 , 1,2 (Each-Way)
    Strength2/10
    Date05/03/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceSkybet @ 21.00 (Back)
ReasoningMonfilis looks a value selection in an event where a lot of the top seeds are not in good form. He is in the easier half of the draw which contains the likes of Kiefer is recovering from illness, Blake out of form, Murray is dangerous but may be a little tired after recent exploits. Monfilis was beaten in the final in Doha at the start of the year and is capable of reaching the final again.
  2. Re: Rugby League: Super League - Round 3 Todays pick siding with HUll:

    SportRugby
    EventRugby Superleague: Warrington v Hull
    SelectionHull -4.5 (Asian Handicap)
    Strength6/10
    Date25/02/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 1.90 (Back)
ReasoningHull have played well in their first two matches scoring 40+ points in wins against Castleford & Wakefield, while Warrington have lost their first two matches dissapointingly at home to salford and narrowly away to Huddersfield.
  3. Re: Six Nations I fancy Scotland to cover the h/cap

    SportRugby
    Event6 Nations: Scotland V England
    SelectionScotland +12.5 (Asian Handicap)
    Strength5/10
    Date25/02/2006
    Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 2.02 (Back)
ReasoningRoared on by the home ground I think Scotland will run england very close. Scotland played impressively to beat France and battled bravely against Wales when reduced to 14 men. England played poorly against Scotland and are going to have to improve if they are going to cover the h/cap.
  4. Re: Fantasy Football: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ Am I too far in front to get a mention anymore blue bucko. ;) Slipping down the overall standings as I have been picking the wrong captain and making a few errors in my transfers. Struggling for players this week as have 3 spurs players in my squad + carragher suspended, Gallas out, Warnock probly won't play. :wall Its tough at the top..

  5. Re: Accenture Match Play Golf I thought about Howell & Harrington as they are both playing well and are capable of causing upsets, both priced at around 2.5. Donald if he can make it pass goosen has a good chance of reaching the final. These are my two picks for now for round 3: 5pts Donald to bt Goosen 2.16 @ betfair Donald made 6 birdies and no dropped shots in his 2nd round victory. Goosen made 6 bordies and a couple of dropped shots in his 2nd round over Crane. Donald is in good form with a 7th & 12th in his last two events, so at odds against looks a good bet. 5pts Oglivy to bt Weir 2.16 @ betfair This is Oglivy's first time in the event but he is playing well and made 7 birdies in his 2nd round win against O'Hern. Weir made a slow start in his 2nd round match and didn't pick up any birdies until the back 9 and his 18 hole round only equated to a 71.

  6. Re: Accenture Match Play Golf A couple of value selections for today: 5pts katayma to bt Montgomery 2.25 @ betdirect For their 1st round matches, Katayama went round in about level par, while Monty went around about 5 over for the first 18 holes so was lucky to progress. He also played 5 extra holes so he might be a bit tired for the 2nd round today, so Katayama looks the value selection. 5pts Lehman to bt A Scott 2.46 @ pinnacle This looks a good price seeing as Lehman played solid golf and didn't bogey any holes in his first round match. Scott played inconsistently in his 1st round match making 4 bogeys, with his round equating to a one over score.

  7. Re: Accenture Match Play Golf I have a shortlist drawn up looking up on the monday/tuesday each week looking at current form & past form. I have a quick read of one or two sites such as the Racing post to see if they agree with my thoughts. I was aware of Daly's problems but was a bit hesitant on Bryant being his first time in the event so on the course. In reflection the price especially when shortened from 1.83 was too skinny to take! I was also torn between going for Clarke & Donald who were on my shortlist but were both in the same quarter so was only going for one of them. Sided with Clarke in the end which as it happens was one of the Racing post's picks. Should really have taken Donald looking at current form and more recent form i.e. last years. I didn't see any of the action yesterday so am trying to get a breakdown of the scores each player shot as a guide. the offical site which gives a breakdown is http://www.worldgolfchampionships.com/scoring/r470 though you have to add up each players round. So tiger birdied his 1st 6 holes and the 8th in the 10 holes played and looks like will take some beating. I need to stop dithering and take the prices quicker. For example Nick O'Hern was 80/1 @ stanjames outright but missed out and was cut to best price 50/1 so didn't back him. Think I may end up backing him in each round instead. I have noticed the prices shorten very quickly after the racing post tips them, they must have a lot of followers. A good start to this year but I think they had about a 90 pt loss last year.

  8. Re: Accenture Match Play Golf my selections are: 2 pts e/w Toms 26 @ williamhill Won the tournament with a 6 & 5 win in the final over Di Marco. In the 4 years the event has been held at this course he has finished 1st, 2nd, t5th & t9th. He has also won the sony open this year and finish in top 20 in his other two events. D Clarke 2 pts e/w 34 @ williamhill Won this event in 2000, was 3rd in 2004 and t5th in 2003. He finsished 7th in his last outing in Dubai. Pettersson 1 pt e/w 126 @ tote He is in what looks to be the most open quarter with the likes of Vj, cabrera & perry not having a good record here. He has had two top 10 finishes this year including a 7th last week. In his previous outing here he was only narrowly beaten by tiger woods. 1st round selections: 7pts Bryant to bt Daly 1.74 @ pinnacle Bryant form is decent with a 23rd at Nissan and top 10 at Mercedes. He was twice a winner last year. Daly missed the cut by miles last week and withdrew the week before, his head is probably a mess with his family problems. 8pts O'Hern to bt Funk 1.62 @ pinnacle O'Hern is in good form with 6 top finishes in last 7 events. He has also finished 5th here in both his two appearances. Funk has never made it past the 1st round here in 6 attempts. 5 pts Lehman to bt Appleby 2.25 @ centrebet Appleby's form has been on the slide since the Mercedes and doesn't like the course, with only two 2nd round appearances to show on this course from its 4 outings. Lehman has had two top 10's in his last two outings.

  9. Re: Nissan Open sorry about my last post, was a bit drunk last night, though I seemed to put the mockers on Couples. Sabbatini showed nerve and great determination to retake the lead and clinch the title. Great approach shot at 16th, and left himself with just a couple of feet putt to clinch the title on the 18th. I hardly saw any of Rollins play despite him looking like he could challenge for the title, with the American producers just seemingly wanting show the final group for the last few hours. Great tipping by the PL golf tipping team, we must be combined nearly 500 points up so far this year! :D :D :D

  10. Re: ATP Marseille/Buenos Aires/San Jose & WTA Antwerp 13th-19th Feb Great performance by Murray to beat Roddick. He will be officially the UK no 1 very shortly. Will oppose him in the final but will still be cheering him on. 8 points lay of Murray @ 3.35 on betfair Hewitt looks like he is getting back to his top form after an impressive semi final win against Spadea. I think it will be a big game too far for Murray, who will find it tough to raise his game once more against Hewitt.

  11. Re: Nissan Open cheers Billyhills I am hoping Rollins repeats his round 3 score of 64 which would definetly make things interesting. 1st hole an easy par 5 so most players expect to make birdie and everyone near the top apart from Tim Clark did. I think a score of 69 would be good enough for Sabbatini to win it, as would need one of his main challengers to shoot 65 or better which will be difficult.

  12. Re: Ice Hockey - Uk Elite League 18-19 February last nights results: Basingstoke 4-6 Newcastle - including punch ups during the warming up, as well as a couple of fights in the game itself. Cardiff 4-3 Edinburgh Nottingham 2-2 Coventry odds for todays games from betandwin

8 pts Belfast to bt sheffield: odds are shorter than I would have liked, but Sheffield are struggling and have taken just two points from last 8. H2H's are 4 wins and a draw from 5 meetings to Belfast. Belfast have won their last 5 league games which has included good away wins 3-0 against cardiff and 2-1 against coventry. 5 pts Edinburgh to bt Basingstoke : Edinburgh won 6-2 in the two sides last meeting. Long trek up for Basingstoke so will have to side with edinburgh who narrowly failed to get a point in cardiff last night and have take 9 points from a possible 12 at home in their last 6 games. Newcastle look too short especially as it will be their 3rd game in 3 days, and against an improving cardiff who have had fairly decent results against newcastle this season. Coventry v Nottingham is a reversal of last night where the sides couldn't be split in what was a fair result. Think Coventry will nick it but too close to call.
  13. I hadn't realised that any bookies priced up the UK ice hockey until very recently. I have found out betandwin do, so I will see if I can "bet and win" on it for the final month of the regular season plus the play offs. I follow the Nottingham Panthers and go to a dozen or so matches per season, and I will be there for tonights game. The standard of hockey isn't the best, but it is usually a good atmosphere and I think value for money. The attendence at Nottingham averages over 4,000 which isn't bad for a minority sport. It is hard to get team news for the matches, best place for this is probably the teams forums. Can look back at past match reports and stats with a few links for stats, news & results: http://www.eliteleague.co.uk/ http://www.ih-update.co.uk/ The standings: Elite League 18th Feb 2006

my selections: 10 points on Newcastle to bt Basingstoke: Newcastle are priced too short in my opinion away to the bottom side. Newcastle will want to keep the pressure on leaders Belfast and have had 1 defeeat in last 9, while Basingstoke haven't won for 14 games. H2H's are 4-1 in favour of Newcastle this season:

4 pts Coventry to bt Nottingham, 1pt saver on draw: I feel Coventry will have the edge. They are in better form with 6 wins from last 7, and in their last two games they beat Edinburgh 8-2 & Newcastle 5-2. Nottingham won their last two games but they were against the bottom two, they are also up against it as will be missing 3 or 4 imports including Captain Dion Darling who is doubtful, and indications are he won't ice. Nottingham beat Coventry 4-0 at home in their last meeting between the sides 5 weeks ago, but before then hadn't won in 7 meetings at home to the Blaze. These are two evenly matched sides with just 2 points seperating them, so I am covering with the draw. Edinburgh nearly tempt me away to Cardiff but I know they are a missing a few players at the moment from their trip down to Nottignham on Wednesday.

  14. Re: Nissan Open I can, I am used to seeing my selections bottle it! Course is not easy to play with the weather, and especially won't be on the Sunday with the pin positions at the most difficult. Sabbatini was 2nd out yesterday and had the best of the conditions so am very thankful for that cos if he went out later he may have struggled to break par. Will lay some back as anything can still happen as its only the half way stage, around 2.7 to lay on betfair.

  15. Re: Nissan Open Weir will either be at the top of the leaderboard or miss the cut I feel, so may just be tempted with the PP offer to back him now. My bets: 2 pts e/w Sabbatini 41@ bluesq (popular choice here) Sabbatini finished runner up here in 2002 and had top 15 finishes in 2000 & 2004. He is on an excellent run of form with his last 5 events yielding two 2nd places, a 10th, 16th & 20th. 2pts e/w T Clark 41 @ bluesq Clark finished 10th here two years ago which included a round of 64. The course should suit him with his accurate approach play to the narrow greens. In his last two events he has finished 10th & 12th. 1 pts e/w J Rollins 201 @ expekt Looks a big price considering he has finished t15th & t4th in his last two events. He finished 2nd last year just one shot back in the B.C. open. He finished t15th in this event in 2002, but missed the cut in 2004 & 2005. 2 pts F Funk top 10 finish 12 @ stan james This looks decent value as Fred Funk has had 3 top 10 finishes here in the last 4 years, including a 3rd in 2003. He had 3 top 10 finishes on the U.S. Tour last year. 8 pts Verplank to bt Stenson - (match bet) 2 @ william hill This is Stensons 1st time playing this course, and while he has done well on the European Tour he may well struggle with tougher U.S. courses and fields. Verplank has played here 5 out the last 6 years with a t58th at worst in last years shortened event. He has taken part in two events this year and has finished 2nd in both of them so is in excellent form on the U.S. tour. 7 points Couples to bt Choi (match bet with tie = stake back) 2.03 @ pinnacle Couples had previously had 11 top 10 finishes in this event, including 3 in the last 6 years. Choi finished 5th here in 2003 but apart from that nothing too spectacular. Choi missed the cut in his last U.S. tour event the Buick Open.

  16. Re: Nissan Open Mike Weir anyone? Won here in 2003 and 2004. He was t37th last year in what was a bit of a non event because only two rounds play was possible. Not sure how his Pebble Beach final round will effect his confidence though. Sabbatini and T Clark are two I like the look off. Both in form and Sabbatini was T2nd here in 2002. Couples and Funk are two who tend to go well here. Funk 3 top 10's in last 4 years here looks big for a top 10 place: 10/1 at stan james. Couples has had 11 top 10 finishes here in 24 appearances.

  17. Re: Golf - Malaysian Open T Jaidee has won this tournament the last two years but it is being played on a new course this year. This will probably be my only punt: 2 pts e/w R Fischer 67 @ bluesq He led going into the final round of the China Open a few months back, and more recently was 5 shots clear after 36 holes of the South African Open before falling back. He tied 12th last week, so in will be a weakish field he will fancy his chances of making a good impression here.

  18. Re: Pebble Beach Had a feeling one of the two was going to fall away from the chasing pack, just kicking myself I wasn't on Oberholser from the start as nearly went for him outright but just backed him for a place at betfair. Weir is not going to even manage a place finsih the way he is dropping back. He is a golfer I never like to trust to win a tournie especially from the front.

  19. Re: Pebble Beach Sabbatini I like the look of without the top 2, though both Weir and Oberholser shakey when out in front with just one round to go. Mike Weir is 1/7: 1999 Bell South Classic shot 72 finished 5th 1999 PGA Championship shot 80 finished 10th 1999 Michelob Championship shot 70 finished 3rd 2001 Genuity Championship shot 75 finished 2nd 2002 Honda Classic shot 75 finished 11th 2004 Nissan Open shot 71 WON (just after play off) 2004 Bell Canadian Open shot 72 lost in playoff Oberholser is 0/2 2004 AT&T shot 76 finished 4th 2004 Wachovia Championship shot 72 lost in playoff You never know someone could come in from the chasing pack.
