  1. Re: JK's 2011 Diary 4-0 now ;) Southampton v Blackpool Another case of overreaction to Blackpools changes. As others have mentioned theirs still some good talent in this team, especially young Matty Phillips who's absolutely rapid. Blackpools price is far too big. Blackpool @ 7/2 - StanJames - 2.5pts Hull v Wigan Think Wigan look big as well, they've packed out the midfield which will make it difficult for Hull and put the pressure on their back four. It's a risk with McManaman up front but from the short bits I've seen of him he's a decent prospect. Wigan @ 13/5 - StanJames - 3pts Sheff Utd v Villa Lots of quality in this Villa side and a good balance to it, Pires and Banna make up a creative midfield whilst Agbonlahor and Albrighton provide a lot of pace against a slow Sheff Utd back four. Villa @ 21/20

  2. Re: JK's 2011 Diary Forgot to post this in here before kick off, if anyone wants proof I tipped it in the FA Cup thread. Milwall v Birmingham Apologies for the lateness but just seen the line ups in Millwall v Birmingham and Birmingham look a big price considering some of the quality on the pitch. The likes of Hleb, Beausanjor, Zigic, Gardner etc will cause Millwall a lot of problems. A difficult place to go, especially for a cup game, but I think the class will show through. Birmingham @ 23/10 - StanJames - 3pts

  3. Right I found £10 in my poker account that I didn't know I had so I've put it into my sports account to have a go at the horsies. First bet is in the 6:40 on Italian horse Sopran Nad who I feel could improve for his last run against some rather terrible horses. Atzeni takes the seat which is a plus. Sopran Nad @ 8/1 - £2.50 e/w

  4. Re: JK's 2011 Diary Horrible night for me :( Bolton and Arsenal had so many chances to score but things just didn't fall for them whilst I was on for a great result in the Everton v Spurs game before Everton scored a winner late on :( Bolton v Wigan Bolton @ 8/11 - StanJames - 7.5pts :( Bolton -1 @ 21/10 - PaddyPower - 4pts :( Bolton -2 @ 5/1 - Bwin - 1.5pts :( -------------------------------------------------- Everton v Spurs Under 2.5 @ 4/5 - Various - 5pts :( Draw @ 12/5 - StanJames - 2.5pts :( --------------------------------------- Arsenal v Man City Arsenal @ 4/5 - Various - 5pts :( -------------------------------------------------- 25.5pts Staked 0pts Returned :( JK's 2011 Football Diary Bets Placed: 14 Bets Won: 3 Staked: 58.5pts Returned: 44.45pts P/L = -14.05pts

  5. Re: JK's 2011 Diary Bolton v Wigan I agree with Jase here and similarily changed my mind about the price being too short, I really can't see Bolton not winning this tbh. They're missing Holden which is quite a blow but I still thing they have enough strength to see off a weak Wigan side. They've had some quality performances this season at home Bolton and have scored 15 goals in their last 5 home games whilst Wigan have conceded 8 in their last 5 away games. Bolton @ 8/11 - StanJames - 7.5pts Bolton -1 @ 21/10 - PaddyPower - 4pts Bolton -2 @ 5/1 - Bwin - 1.5pts -------------------------------------------------- Everton v Spurs I think both teams might cancel eachother out here. Both are solid in defence, Spurs more so since Dawson has been back, and imo both are not that prolific in front of goal. Everton dealt well with Spurs in the first leg and I feel they may do a similar job today. Neville had Bale sussed whilst Baines had Lennon in his pocket. I expect a five man field will stop the creativity of Modric and Van Der Vaart as well. Expecting a tight cagey game, although to be fair it will probably end up 3-3. Under 2.5 @ 4/5 - Various - 5pts Draw @ 12/5 - StanJames - 2.5pts --------------------------------------- Arsenal v Man City I've said it before, Arsenal are a different beast when they have their first team out. It's the same line up that started against Birmingham and I can't remember the last time Wenger started the same line up two games in a row. Man City won't be easy but I don't think their midfield has the mobility to keep up with our movement. Arsenal @ 4/5 - Various - 5pts

  7. Re: JK's 2011 Diary Appreciate the support Jase, doesn't seem like I'll be winning it though, there's other great candidates as well. -------------------------------------- Fulham v West Brom I quite fancy West Brom to put in a good performance tonight. The trouble with Fulham is they lack pace and mobility in the middle, Murphy and Etuhu arn't the quickest and it means that teams who play decent football get a lot of time on the ball as was shown when Man City beat them 4-1. West Brom are another team with a quicker, more talented midfield imo and I think they may cause Fulham some problems tonight. Odemwingie should be coming back to full match fitness and I was impressed with him against United despite his penalty miss. Fulham don't really pose much threat up front without Zamora, Johnson has lost his yard of pace and I doubt Dembele will be match fit. Dempsey is always a threat however. Anyway, what I'm saying is I think West Brom are slightly overpriced tonight. West Brom +0 (AH) @ 6/4 - StanJames - 5pts

  9. Re: JK's 2011 Diary Cheers Hooloovoo and Artem :ok Just the one for me in the Championship today. --------------------------------------- Portsmouth v Hull An attacking line up out for Portsmouth with Lawrence, Utaka, Kanu, Nugent and Kiston all starting. They suffered defeat at the hands of Watford, but they're a team in form and Pompey had several players missing. Hull were uninspiring against Leicester at the weekend so I quite fancy Pompey today at what should be a bouncing Fratton Park. 10. Re: JK's 2011 Diary

Cheers Scotty. -------------------------------------------------- Chelsea v Aston Villa Just seen the line ups and I think Villa are overpriced here. Houllier has his best places back available and seems to have reverted to the team that have proved to be more succesful in previous seasons. Dunne returns to defence which is big news and he's going with a more solid 4-4-2 with Heskey and Agbonlahor leading the line. Chelsea have gone with Bruma in defence and Mikel is also missing. Thats two key defensive players missing for Chelsea, and with the home crowd expectant I think this is going to be a tough game for them. Aston Villa are a good counter attacking side, and we've already seen with Sunderland that counter attacking teams can do well at Stamford Bridge. Aston Villa +1.5 / +2.0 (AH) @ 10/11 - VictorChandler - 10pts Aston Villa @ 14/1 - VictorChandler - 1pt
Happy with that although it's a shame that Villa got so close to winning. Still though, Chelsea look past it and definately need a few signings in the transfer window. Villa looked a lot better today with a full strength line up and if they can keep players fit they may go on a decent run. 11pts Staked 18.75pts Returned ---------------------------------------------------- JK's 2011 Football Diary Bets Placed: 5 Bets Won: 3 Staked: 31pts Returned: 44.45pts P/L = +13.45pts

  13. I always start a new diary at the beginning of the season but end up losing interest. This time I WILL keep it updated! :lol Already had the one bet today which I'll post below, a teeny weeny profit on the Stoke - Everton game. Got another bet to come on Arsenal who I fancy to win. Stoke v Everton I've mentioned before how I think Everton are really struggling up front. They had to play Cahill on his own up front against West Ham and that just didnt work, he doesnt have the strength to hold up the ball. I would suggest that either Saha or Yakubu will start against Stoke but even those two don't look like the players of old. Saying all that though, Everton are still very difficult to beat. They have a decent defence, especially Distin who would probably be in my team of the year so far. They pack the midfield as do Stoke and I would suggest this would be a very tight, scrappy affair. Under 2.5 goals @ 8/11 - StanJames - 7.5pts Everton +0 @ Evens - StanJames - 5pts -------------------------------------------------------------- Birmingham v Arsenal I know its always risky betting against Birmingham at St.Andrews but I quite fancy us tommorow. We were awful against Wigan but with so many changes it was always going to be difficult. The trip to St.Andrews see's us welcome back Song, Nasri and Fabregas - probably the three most important players in the side at the moment. Van Persie also returns to the side and although his finishing was poor against United I was very impressed with his movement. Djourou will also come back into defence and he is a big improvement on Squillaci. Birmingham, although grinding out draws, havn't actually impressed me that much this season. They lack that cutting edge up front, Jerome is struggling to find the form of last season whilst Zigic isn't getting many chances. I also feel that Birmingham may struggle with the amount of fixtures they've had lately. Their squad is fairly old with the likes of Carr and Bowyer, so it will be interesting to see how they last against Arsenal, especially off the back of the United game. With a near enough full team I think we'll prove to be too strong for Birmingham for the reasons mentioned above. Arsenal @ 7/10 - StanJames - 7.5pts

  14. Re: The perfect martingale system

At this time the odds for the Correct Score market should be around 1.01. So we will place a bet for £358 to cover all of our loses. Our liability will be £3.57
I very much doubt the odds for correct score at 87th minute will be 1.01, you're looking closer to 1.15 imo.
  15. Re: The perfect martingale system

Hey aldric, it should work out like this: Lay Under 1.5 for odds 3.85. Stake - £10. Liability - £28.50. Potential P/L - £9.55 Goal Scored. Goal Scored.
If you are laying under 1.5 goals, and two goals are scored, then your bet is a winner :unsure
  16. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 16th December

Juventus v Man City Going to carry on with my corner system here whereby games that are meaningless in terms of result, usually have less corners. Juventus average around 9 corners (between both teams) at home anyway and Man City average around 10 away from home. Under 10.5 Corners @ 10/11 - 5pts - StanJames Under 9.5 Corners @ 11/10 - 4pts - StanJames
11 Corners already :( On reflection, with both teams playing out and out wingers was a bit of a silly bet. Ah well. :(

  18. Re: UEFA Europa League > Wednesday 15th December

Couple of bets for me. Liverpool v Uterecht Hodgson has said he's going to put out quite a strong side here with Kuyt, Torres and Johnson all likely to start. Liverpool at home are a completely different team, 8 goals scored and 0 conceded in last 3 games is proof of that. I fancy Liverpool to win this comfortably, the pressure is off, the players can go enjoy their football and sometimes thats when teams can be at their most dangerous. Liverpool -1 @ 5/4 Zagreb vs PAOK PAOK only need a point to progress here and one of their main strenghts is defending, whilst Zagreb don't score many goals, infact they've only scored 5 goals in their last 5 home games, conceding 1. 6 of PAOKs last 7 away games in this competition have gone under 2.5, wiht 4 of those finishing under 1.5. With the way the game is set up I can see PAOK just sitting back and playing with a 5 man midfield and I think Zagreb will struggle to find a way through. Under 1.5 Goals @ 2/1 - 4pts - VCbet Correct score 0-0 @ 9/1 - 1pt - Totesport

  20. Re: X-Factor

Youtube videos are often a good way to see popularity. At the moment, from the latest weeks performances, the official Xfactor Youtube views are (rounded to the nearest thousand); Matt Cardle - 260k (11/4) Cher Lloyd - 226k (9/1) One Direction - 142k (7/2) Rebecca Ferguson - 88k (5/1) Mary Byrne - 84k (6/1) Katy Wassel - 63k (25/1) Treyc Cohen - 57k (11/1) John Adelele - 54k (40/1) Belle Amie - 53k (50/1) Aiden Grimshaw - 52k (8/1) Paije Richardson - 50k (40/1) Wagner - 33k (100/1) Diva Fever - 55k Storm Lee - 44k In the first week, Cher got nearly double anyone else with over a million views, compared to One Direction, Mary and Matt who just reached over 500k. I can't see One Direction winning it as groups always struggle, especially later on in the competition when it becomes a bit more 'personal'. I think their novelty factor will wear off. Cher looks value at 9/1 considering her Youtube popularity, but again, her novelty factor wear off, and will she be about to whack out that all important x-factor ballard? Having Cheryl on her side is a big bonus though. I think it's between Matt, Cher and Rebecca, with the value being in the last two.
Well there you go then, not a bad analysis if I do say so myself.
  21. Re: UEFA Champions League > Wednesday 8th December

Arsenal v Partizan There's obviously no value in backing Arsenal at 1/9, especially with our dodgey home form, so I'm going to stay away from handicaps which are equally valueless. Instead I'm going to head over back to the corners market where I fancy Partizan on the handicaps. Arsenal don't score that many corners in general, in fact in both home games this season, Shakthar 5-1 and Braga 6-0, we only got 2 corners. Braga had 0 whilst Shakthar had 3. Partizan have scored around the same amount of corners as both opponents in their away games. Our defense is still vulnerable at the best of times so I wouldn't be suprised if we give away the odd cheap corner. The line is currently set at Partizan +5 which looks big to me considering the stats and the way I expect the game to pan out. Partizan +5 Corners @ Evs - 5pts - StanJames I was also tempted by the under 9.5 corners at 7/4 but I think I'll just stick with the one bet for now.
Bah, ended in a tie with Arsenal winning it 5-0, bit gutted really as Partizan had one or two chances to win a corner. Saying that they were very poor going forward. As mentioned above the Under 9.5 came through easily, unfortunately I only had 2pts on it so ended the night on a loss. Ah well.
