  1. Result: Celta Vigo 3 - 1 Las Palmas = Winner!

    ---

    £19.50 Double

    Derby v Fulham - Under 4.5 goals 1/7

    Charlton v MK Dons - Under 4.5 goals 1/10

Combined double = 1.25 (Betfair Sportsbook)

  2. Well that first effort was short and sweet! A 90th minute corner took it to 14 corners and a losing bet.

    Let's try again.

    ----

    £15 - Celta Vigo v Las Palmas |     Celta Vigo +1 @ 1.3 (Betfair)

  3. It's a winning start with 4 bookings.

    Next bet:

    £18 - Swansea vs Middlesbrough - Under 13.5 Corners @ 1.22 (SkyBet)

    ----

Think this would have come in in the last 10 Swansea home games and the last 10 Boro away games. Can't see it being a very open game,

  4. First bet up:

    Liverpool v Everton - Over 30 booking points @ 1.20

    -----

This bet would have come in in each of the last 15 games between these two teams (I think). It's always a feisty one and Anthony Taylor is reffing. He has one of the highest bookings per game records in the league.

With the recent press around the horrific Coleman injury I'm sure he won't be slow in getting his card out.

(In fact the 2.9 available on 30 or more Liverpool booking points looks like good value for anyone who likes that sort of bet).

  5. Hello!

Been off this forum for quite a while now, but with Vegas now booked for August I thought I would try a few glory hunts to try and earn a bit of spending money to then blow on Blackjack in the MGM Casino!

Idea of this is to start with £15 and get it up to £100 using these rules:

    - Team sports only

    - Minimum odds 1.13, Maximum odds 1.30

    - No in-play bets

    - Two attempts a month

Let's see how we go! :)

  6. Re: Cornering the market - 2011/2012 Swansea v Wigan Bet: Swansea -1 Corners odds: 13/10 Bookie: WillHill Stake: 7.5pts A lot of width in the Swansea team with Dyer and Sinclair. They play good football and I'm expecting them to dominate poessesion against Wigan. At home last season they averaged +3.6 on the corner handicap at home. Wigan averaged -1.5 away from home.

  7. Re: Cornering the market - 2011/2012

jk - Do you take account of which side is likely to be chasing the game when working out these bets?
Of course, its one the of the many factors I take into account. Anyway, Arsenal won the corner count 9-5 for a return of +9.75 points. Bank now stands at 97.25pts.
  8. Re: Cornering the market - 2011/2012 Arsenal v Liverpool Bet: Arsenal -1 Corners odds: 13/10 Bookie: WillHill Stake: 7.5pts In the last 3 years at the Emirates Arsenal have an average handicap of about -3. From the looks of it Liverpool are setting up quite defensively and will invite pressure which will help this bet. Two shakey defences playing against two similar 4-3-3 formations. Should offer a lot of width.

  9. Re: Cornering the market - 2011/2012 Hearts 6 - 4 Spurs :puke I knew Spurs would be dominant but I didn't expect it to be that easy! I thought Hearts might hold out a bit longer and Spurs would have a lot of the posession but it turned out to be too easy and although they were 3-1 up on corners at half time, they let Hearts back into it after the break. Another dissapointing result. Bank: 87.5pts

  10. Re: Cornering the market - 2011/2012 Hearts v Spurs Bet: Spurs -1 corner odds: 10/11 Bookie: StanJames Stake: 7.5pts A lot of width in Spurs team and I expect them to be on the front foot for most of the game. Krankjar, Defoe, VDV and Livermore won't be afraid to shoot from distance and could get quite a few corners from that.

  11. Re: Cornering the market - 2011/2012

Man City v Swansea Bet: Over 11 corners Odds: 10/11 Bookie: Bet365 Stake: 5pts
11 corners exactly :\ There were 11 corners with 10 minutes to go as well, and Joe Hart somehow kept one from going out in the dying minutes. An unlucky start but plenty more to come. Bank: 95pts
  12. I had a lot of success in the corner handicap and corner under/overs market last year and I think its one of the few markets where I am in profit over the last year. Going to try and see if I can be as successful this time round. Starting with a 100pt bank. ------------ Man City v Swansea Bet: Over 11 corners Odds: 10/11 Bookie: Bet365 Stake: 5pts Reasoning: Should be quite an open game with both teams playing with plenty of width. Swansea managed quite a few corners away from home last season and although this is a much harder test, I still expect them to play some decent football and try and hit City on the break with Sinclair and Dyer. I'm expecting about 13 or 14 corners so this looks decent value.

  13. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Oop, I might be getting a bit carried away but a couple more I fancy. Tsonga most aces vs Federer @ 1.83 (Betfair) - 5pts Tsonga has been serving really well and averaging around 6 aces a set. If he has any chance of beating RF then that serve needs to be in full swing. Tomic most aces vs Djokovic @ 2.36 (Betfair) - 5pts Tomic has done really well so far this tournament and that has a lot down to his impressive first serve. He's been serving around the 70% mark most matches and has an average of 2.7 aces a set compared to Djokovic's 2.6. I would make Tomic slight favourite for this one so the price looks good value to me. Lopez most aces v Murray @ 1.86 (Betfair) - 5pts Lopez is another one who's serve has helped them get this far into the competition. He has a massive 6.6 aces a set compared to Murrays 3.4. I know Murray is a great returner and will get his racket on serves that others wouldn't but that gap in aces/p serve is too much for me to ignore.

  14. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon I know my first bet in this championships were awful, but second time lucky eh! Nadal v Fish Nadal to win first set 7-6 @ 6/1 Ladbrokes - 2pts Fish to win first set 7-6 @ 9/1 Ladbrokes - 1pt Fish has been serving incredibly well this tournament. I watched his game against Berdych where he served at 62% first serve and won a massive 91% of his first serve against Berdych who is a decent returner. Nadal has been struggling to break down players serves this tournament and has already had to play 4 tie breaks. This could be another tense match where Nadal will have to be in sharp form and make the most of those rare second serves in a tie break. Backing both players to win the first set 7-6 gives you odds of around 11/4 which is great value imo.

  15. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Just a word on the weather at Wimbledon today. It's going to be around 30 degrees and possibly higher on court. Very, very hot in other words. Might be something to consider when looking at games, which players handle the heat and have the stamina etc.

  16. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon In regards to the Fish v Istomin game, I also like the look of over 37.5 games at 4/6 and Istomin +4.5 at 11/10. I'm going to stick with my original bets for now but those two are also tempting. This could be a long match if both players find their serves.

  17. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Great info JK. I'm following you on this one' date=' albeit at shorter odds, with intentions of laying in-play. Was Istomin really 4/1?[/quote'] Apologies that was meant to be 3/1. (I read the odds as decimals when they wern't).
  18. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Wawrinka v Bolelli Wawrinka to win 3-0 @ 21/20 (Boylesports) - 2.5pts Wawrinka is not exactly the greatest grass court player but should be too good for Bolelli who was a lucky qualifier. The Swiss is seeded 14th and came through in his first match in straight sets. The two players have met twice before and Wawrinka has won in straight sets on both occasions.

  19. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Fish v Istomin Istomin to win 1st set @ 9/4 (Skybet) - 2.5pts Istomin to beat Fish @ 4/1 (Skybet) - 1pt I quite fancy Istomins chances of causing an upset tommorow against the 10th seed Fish. Istomin had a good Wimbledon last year, beating both Wawrinka and Scheuttler before losing in the 3rd round 3-2 to Berdych after being 2-1 up. He also had a good Queens last year where he took a set off Nadal in the last 16. He looked set to reach the second round back in 2009 when 2 sets up against 66th seed ranked Fognini untill he was struck with an injury. He went out in the first round at Eastbourne and Queens this year but was up against Tsonga and Del Potro. The preperation will have done him good. He comes into this match off the back of an impressive 3-1 win over Halle champion Kolschreiber. Fish on the other hand had no preperation for the grass court and had a tough match up against Granoellers. He came through in 3 sets, taking the first two sets in tie breaks. I think Istomin may prove to be a tougher challenge and this should be an interesting match where it may just be useful to back Istomin with a look at laying him later on.

  20. Re: UEFA Champions League > Wednesday 16 February

But the point I was making is Arsenal bottle things year on year. United have made a living out of playing poorly and winning for years. Chelsea were probably due a dip in form given the huge changes that are required within their playing squad. It's really irrelevant whether United and Chelsea have bottled anything this season too because it's Arsenal that matters here.
We have indeed 'bottled' games previously, there's no denying that, but I just think this team is mature enough now to stop that happening. There's no weak points in the side other than perhaps Eboue at RB and that's what gives me confidence.
And' date=' I don't really see Fabregas as a strong inspirational leader. I mean, United have Rooney. Chelsea have John Terry. Liverpool have Gerrard. I don't prersonally believe Arsenal really have that inspirational figure. No doubt Fabregas is an extremely talented footballer, but I seem to remember the only reason he was made captain was to keep him from moving to Barca.[/quote'] Who would you say Barcelona have? The reasons for making Cesc captain are irrelevant, he is still in my opinion an inspirational captain - he may show it in a different way to those you have mentioned but I don't think that matters. BTW, Rooney, inspirational? :rollin
