  1. Re: PL Poker league GAME 3 - Can PAUL ROSS beat his detractors? I have an apology to make to all. I gave Jez the chips to win;) . My SB against his BB i try to bluff once pre flop with QJ get a flat call and then all in on a baby flop which i know had a 7 on it as Jez turned over A7 lol. My fault sorry all. Oh yeah well done jez, what do you do for a living again.

  2. Re: You make the play....AKs on a LAG table! I think you have to push here. You have top pair top kicker on a board which so far does not have any made straight or flushes. In fact there is no open ended str8 draw. My decision would be to raise the pot this will hopefully take down the pot here. Your real worry is that you can't put the lag on a hand and he could well have you beat but that will be a constant worry and the likelihood is you have him beat and you don't want to give him a free card to catch up. The poor player is likely flushing or maybe an ace with weaker kicker. If he wants to call give him the wrong odds. Now if you are re raised i think you have to put it down, your table image must be quite tight and re raise is telling you are beat IMO. The difficulty comes if you are called and who by. There are prob too many possibilites to run through but a club would be the real scare card and this leads to a check and call or check and fold situation.

  3. Re: playing standards on different sites Interesting question as i think standard varies quite alot site to site. I don't play pacific that often now as it is a poor site matched by the standard of its players. As for other sites it varies greatly: 0.25/0.5 NL games i play i would rate in terms of players (easiest first) 1. Sporting Odds (25 dollar avg pot at times) 2. Ladbrokes 3. Bet365 4. BetFred (tight as I was losing when trying to get my bonus thru)

  4. Re: Bet365 $20K Freerolls In July Out in 758th just never got out of being shortstacked. Happy with the money finish as it was a real grind. Good luck plow king. Also cheers Gotafancy for a well run update on here.

  5. Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments The gala in nottingham is on maid marian way. As you correctly point out there are 2 galas in Notts. It would be good to see you down here. I might well give Derby a go at some point unfortunately there nights conflict with Nottinghams.

  6. Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments I think i am probably your man here. I live in Nottingham and play at gala in Nottingham regularly (to the point of addiction). Its great atmosphere at our place (apparantly the noisest cardroom in the country) and gala are now starting to support the poker there new comps and all that. Though i would warn you that it also has reputation as having a high standard of play and has produced in recent years so up and coming pros. The comps in Nottingham are as follows: Monday £30 rebuy pot limit Tuesday £10 rebuy no limit Thursday £20 rebuy pot limit Friday £20 rebuy pot limit Sunday £50 rebuy pot limit ( first Sunday of every month its 100 quid) I would recommend tuesday night as it is beginners night and a less frantic atmosphere and you might even get to see me dealing (that should be a laugh in itself) There are cash games afterwards as well but i avoid them as it tends to be omaha hi lo and lowball etc. Also i believe Stanleys have reopened their cardroom recently in Derby for a couple of comps, not been yet but do plan on venturing across the M1 at some point for a look. So yeah if you fancy a trip over to notts let me know and i will happily show the ropes. That goes for any other pler who fancies a night of poker with some of Nottinghams more interesting characters.

  7. Re: Next Poker League Game? I am afraid boys i caught between the devil and the deep blue sea here. Bloody poker committements hey. I won't be there tomorrow as I will be supporting the intro of a no limit comp at my local casino. We have been restricted to pot limit in the past so i feel as one of the regulars i should support this welcome new venture. So good luck to all that take part.

  8. Re: WSOP Update A bit info on a couple of the UK players. Tiffany Williamson won her way in through a super satellite at the gutshot card club in London her buy in is rumoured to be somewhere between 10 and 40 quid!!! Its her first tournament of any standing. John McGrane is william hill qualifier for about a tenner. Apparantly due to his excellent performance this year he will get an all expenses paid entry from William Hill to WSOP 2006 main event. I think the percentage of european players left given the original proportion at the start is probably quite high. Though its a small sample, to me it proves that european poker is every bit as good as our us counterparts. In fact i would wager your average european is a superior player. It is only at the real top level that the americans have the edge.

  9. Re: WSOP Update As far as i know there are 5 brits left in that field. Tiffany Williamson the only women left is from London. Nick Gibson who is a regular on the live scene at home. Conor Tate, Andrew Black and Michael Kessler are also from the UK

  10. Re: You make the call - POCKET ACES Parts 1 and 2! My opinion is i fold the first hand reluctantly. I think he has at least trips (one of the jack) or he has possibly hit a house with 9's or queens. The only hand i can see him making that move with that you are beating is ace queen. Not the right odds. 2nd hand i call the all in. The only hand that you are behind to is King Queen and alot would slow play it on that board (i would). So i think you have him on two pair or a lower set. Both of which you are in very good shape against.

  11. Re: WSOP Update The lucky comment was meant to be sarcastic. Raymer is alot better than people gave him credit for. He was playing reasonably high stakes for a while before winning the big one. He also played the main event in 2002 and 2003 i believe. Seems like a geniune bloke as well. So best of luck to him. Lets hope he gets heads up with "the mouth" that would be interesting.

  12. Re: WSOP Update An interesting player left is placed 9th overnight. He is called Greg Raymer anyone heard of him!!!!!!! Bet he has just got lucky. Others of interest 6. Lee Watkinson (wpt fame) 14. Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi 63. Layne Flack 83. Sammy Farha 130. John Juanda 152. Joe Beevers 156. Howard Lederer 162. Mike "The Mouth" Matasouw 259. Phil Ivey
