Re: Anybody play at Pacific Poker/888? Yes i do longy11 is my user name. Play there alot they gave me 10 free dollars without a deposit that is now 45 free dollars. So I wouldn't say the standard is great. I play alot of tournaments instead of cash games so not really my field. Did start on the ridiculous 5c/10c table where the standard was that of a 3 year old. My advice is don't try anything fancy don't bluff too much and start with good hands and play them aggressively when youn hit. Oh if you really want to make a killing about 5 in tnhe morning on a saturday or sunday is great. The yanks are always drunk then.

Re: Hand analysis from recent live game 1 This what I did I was first to act so I checked. Reasoning behind this was I wanted to know where everyone else was. Weak player bets the pot 1800 chips, I know it hasn't got the straight now he might be poor but not that poor, so I put him on the up and down probably a 9. It is possible he could have the 5 or top pair but i doubt it. Decent player folds obviously got nothing of the flop. I decide I must be be ahead and put myself all in (risky but right i think). At this point I think he should fold I am telling him I have a better hand than him and he has enough chips to live another day. Whereas he would short stacked if he calls and loses. I must admit I would rather he folds but he calls my all in. He flips over jack nine I momentarily congratulate myself for the read and then crap myself. No 5 or 10 pleeeease. Turn is a rag I think 2 from my memory (yes). As you have probably guessed the river is the 10 of diamonds and Im out. Damn. I fake my usual sunny disposition at the poker table (I like to delude myself Im daniel negraneu) and say thanks for the game. I get a few unlucky's from people round the table but none from the fish. Some people don't know their own luck!

Re: Rugby League: Superleague X (round 2) Paul I'm interested and slightly confused by comment about millward being sacked. Despite being a southener i went to uni in sheffield and my housemate of 4 years was a massive saints fan and converted me. I have watched saints regularly ever since and millward is a demi god in st helens. Even the bitter old timers reckon he is the best coach saints have ever had and they are a team with some history. Millward will only go if he wants to go back to oz. Also it is generally accepted that saints will probably be the closest team to leeds this year. Hmmm all in all definitley a sacking situation ( note the sarcasam)

Re: Hand analysis from recent live game 1 Hard to tell as its difficult to tell when playing live. Would imagine I was around halfway in chip stack out of the remaining 25. Blinds move up every 25 mins.

My game has now get to the level where I think i can hold my own at the local casino tournament. The level is quite good with a few notable maniac exceptions. Last night there were 49 entrants in a 30 pound pot limit hold em tournament the final 10 get make the money. For the first 1 90 mins you are allowed to re buy and then one top is allowed before the tournament proper get going. I managed to get up to about 6000 in chips with about 25 left without a buy in (playing solidly imo). Then i get dealt pair of 6's in the bb. No one raises but two people call the 600 required to see the flop. One player the 1st to act behind me is loose and a poor player. The 2nd player is a good solid bloke who I know quite well. The flop come a rainbow 8 7 6. I have trips but there is obviously the straight draw out there what do I do? By the way I checked before the flop hoping to get the set. The max raise is 1800 and the loose player has me covered comfy, the good player has around the same as me. I will let you know what I did after some replies just interested how everyone would play it? First!

Re: Difficulties with Queens (Poker) This used to be my favourite hand mainly cos I seem to see it more often than not and won the majority of the time with it. It does depend the level you play it, but in a qulality game it can be dangerous hand becasue a big raise pre-flop will lead to everyone folding or a call from AK (coin flip) or a re raise from Kings/aces. Mockler is right tho, my game has vastly improved since I made my opponents pay a heavy price to draw against me.Let them chase make the pot odds in favour of you not them.You will win long term which is what it is about!

Small Aces
in Poker
Starting to have a bit of success with the game now, turning a nice profit especially in SnG's. My question is how long do you hold on to an ace with a kicker lower than 10. My current strategy is to only a call small raise pre-flop or fold. The real problem I have is when I actually hit the ace. What do I do? A raise to see if I have position but then how do I react to just a call, I realise a re-raise could spell real trouble and would probably pass to a good opponent. I find myself in this position a lot it seems and I really don't know where I stand in the pot. Should I be chcking my ace on the flop to see if anyone else bets it?

Re: $1000 Freeroll Bet365 @ 4pm out in about 3000th tried to play in that and the laddies one which i was still in. Finished about 70th in ladbrokes one which is next to useless as top 20 pay.Knocked out with aces by ak who hit the straight aaaaaaaaah!

Re: Small Aces Yes cheers people eradicated from my starting hands now and I think it has helped my game. Had to laugh the other day when I was playing live and raised with Ace king suited and then some fish comes over the top of me with what turned out to be ace 4. I just thought you live and learn. Whilst i took the pot.
